FYI... you should always connect a battery charger to your battery while doing a flash to your ECU. Even if you have a new battery there is a chance you could experience a critical drop in voltage and you could potentially brick your ECU.
Davide Cippitelli i has to flash my s3 back to stock to bring back to dealer, when i flashed it back stage1.5 i went to turn the car on and the battery was dead. Had to get s new battery the next day
According to Audi here in sweden they are using counters in their cars now so they can see how many times the ECU has been flashed. Kinda like Samsung has in their phones. So if I map my car all all warrany is blown out the window.
I've always used the Giac software on my vw/Audi cars and been happy. The strange thing is though when you first tune. Like the first 200 miles. It just doesn't seem to be quite right until the ECU adapts. Like it's very close to being right. But I noticed more throttle response and everything being smoother after about a week of driving.
Man, I love your face when all the error codes popped up! Same exact thing happened to me when I flashed my S7 for the first time. My tuner neglected to tell me that would happen. Try a pedal booster for your throttle issues. Heard they actually work quite well.
@fonzie you aren't going to believe this but I just purchased your rs3 in Seattle. I know this because I just transferred the unitronic license over to me and it has all of your old contact info on it! 😄 I have big plans for mods and will definitely share it with you if you are interested! PS I have dipped my car for years using your products and techniques. Definitely a small world!!
Btw looks like the ECU stage 1+ was only ever done. Should definitely of had the TCU (transmission) done as well to avoid potential clutch hazards. Having that completed now!
Thanks for a real review with pros and cons so we can see if it's what we are personally looking for...I will be watching your further videos...thanks again
Just so you know some guys who flashed unitronic went back to stock to be able to flash custom code...but I unitronic left a bunch of stuff on the ECU...
I just got a tuner too! I'm tuning it tomorrow to go with my mods.i got the wireless sct Bama tunes with phone app. I can dyno my mustang too. Best thing to do to your car
Thanks for these vids. Question: do you know what the stock wheel size is on the Dynamic package for the 2018 RS3? I know they are a staggered tire setup, but I can't find actual dimensions for the wheels that package comes with.
Did you end up getting the TCU tune? Did it fix the issue you described? I know what you're talking about, picked up my 19' RS3 this past weekend coming from a 17 S3 with Uni 1+ ECU/TCU..
Late to the party, does the Unitronic give you access to the tuning tables? If so, you can do a lot with the drive by wire mapping to make lower inputs command more throttle %, and as long as you make small changes at a time its really tough to break anything.
The Dyno graph shown in the DAP sales page shows that it should make the same power as stock below 2600rpm, then just keep building power from that point on. So under standard driving you'll feel no difference. Shift manually and let it rev up above 2600 and it should be a huge increase in power.
Kenny Yeats wait wait did you just say that your rs3 with ONLY a tune ran an 11.1 ? How much did it cost and how much are you making on the wheels or crank ?
Hey Fonzie, are you happy with this tune or prefer APR? Do you get more over runs after the tune? Compared to the previous RS3 it lacks the pops and bangs when down shifting which i found very disappointing.
Fonzie, really interested to know how the tune is after a month, has it made a big difference while gunning it, I'm nearly placing my order for the stage 1+ but very interested in your feedback before I commit.
Is it worth voiding the warranty, though? Thinking about buying an RS3, and it'll be my most expensive purchase ever. I would love to tune and modify, but it'll also be my daily driver and I'm not sure if I want to risk voiding the warranty.
Nice vid Fonzie. Do you plan to do the secondary cat delete, for the price it really does help open things up buddy if you don't want to do DP's yet. Running 4 stock cat's its just to much restriction. As much as I to get Unitronics tune I'm still waiting on Iroz's/CC tune since they have been tuning it for their cat-less dp setup and I'm running their DP and inter-cooler already too. For some reason these car take awhile to adapt to changes assuming its the same with the tune.
Hey Fonzie, as you know, there are not a ton of reviews for the 2018 rs3. I was looking to see if there are any good reviews and turns out... The car i'm looking at, has the exact mods and looks exactly like yours lol so my question to you good sir, why are you selling it? i'm never big into buying cars that have been modified by the previous owner, because you never know if that owner knew exactly what they were doing when modifying and finding out what the car can handle without any side effects. did something go wrong? cause from the looks of it, you love this car? just curious cause i'd rather buy stock if there is something wrong with the car, especially not driving down to south Florida to find out on a test drive. appreciate the help, cheers!
I am dissapoint. The reaction I usually get when I tune a turbo car is HOLY CRAP. I've always tuned with APR but a few more tuners are getting into the scene, Unitronic being one of the old school ones.
The tune should make it feel like a different machine if the tuner is good. If it's off the shelf maps, well, prepare to be disappointed. You should look for a tuner who has a good rep, and will do some live or e-tuning for you. That throttle response you're looking for should be something a tune can net you especially with newer cars. Hell, my RS for example with just a tune went night and day. You pop it into sport mode from normal and that throttle map is way better.
You should definitely feel a change in drivability from idle all the way upto redline. Including initial throttle tip in CD-ROM a stop. If not, your tune did not/does not, fully work.
I'm not a big fan of canned tunes. Is custom tuning hard to find for the RS3? Btw, the days of flashing back to stock to fly under the radar are long gone. If you ever have a major failure, they're going to peel back the onion enough and know. All depends on the issue...and you're on youtube too lol.
Fonzie mentioned the site from where he get that unitronic , and i have go to that site and choose stage 1+ , here is the link : www.shopdap.com/catalog/product/view/id/603787/category/40076/
Maybe you need a pedal box so the throttle is more linear... that is a common complaint with S3's and R's. Probably not much different with this car. 😕
No, Different fuel rating in different countries. Research Octane Number (RON) is used in Europe and many other areas but Canada, USA, Brazil and others use Anti-Knock Index (AKI) or (R+M)/2. 95 RON is the same as 91 oct in the US. 98/99 RON is the same as 93 octane in the US.
Man that thing sounds great. I would say tho considering its a 2.5l 5cy and its making 400hp stock and a tune making it 500hp if you were to compare it to say a 4cy turbo 2.5l subaru thats also 500hp you will run into some turbo lag. Just something to consider when thinking about that 0-50% throttle. You got quite an awesome audi collection, rs3, rs6 and rs7 so cool!
2.5liters of displacement and only 5cy. if you were to compare a 400hp sti with a 2.5l and 4cy it will def have some turbo lag under 3k atleast for the turbo to spool. I would think this is the same reason for the rs3 to feel a bit laggy / less torque down low due to a larger turbocharger to beable to make 400hp.
You just void the warranty. Very smart. In Europe we have this thing called stage 0.5 which is basically proper tune on static dyno, not some vin based BS. Increase is significant and its done the way Audi has no way of telling whether there was something done to the car. My mate done it on his s3. 370bhp from stock 300. He will go stage2 after the warranty period.
Not as reliable or safe as Unitronic. Unitronic tests software in a variety of situations including at altitude. Here in Denver APR stage 1 tunes were notorious for issues at altitude. I had no problem with my Golf R stage 1 Unitronic driving up the highest mountain roads.
C'mo man saying that a tune is not suppose to change a car so much , I'll start slow for you just take a OEM mk7 GTI and put a good tune on it not even DP just a tune, you will def feel that is totally a different car. I understand every tune has its purpose , the truth is unitronic always has been on the conservative side of the tunes, still great product ,but def not a power king!
Bruh, you have zero concept of how a turbo engine works...... 🤡 Load makes the turbo spool it’s not going to do a whole lot 1-50% throttle because it doesn’t have enough LOAD throttle input needs to overcome the turbo lag and get it to start spinning 100k rpm more fuel=hotter exhaust gases=more exhaust gas volume=MORE TURBO SPOOL. Do some research.
Seriously! You don't know that Deutsche is the German word for German and you own a German car? You need to read a little bit more about the rest of the world.
LOL, flashing to stock won tsa e you at the dealer. Aftermarket tunes leave traces the sophisticated computers the techs use, and believe me, he techs are looking for evidence of tunes, more than anything these day's . They will know that you've flashed your car.
Fonzie, your not very intelligent. Your concerned about the error warnings, you did not see that in the instructions, then say "I trust the tune", lol. You need help. Do yourself a favor and leave your car stock. Your going to regret it later if you don't.
Thank you for your feedback and keep following for future announcements about additional Performance Software and Hardware for your RS3!
+Unitronic let me know if you need more BETA testers for the TCU tune
Unitronic Hello there, I’m about to install the stage 1+ to my Audi rs3, but my first concern is: does the affect the warranty? Do you recommended?
Does going back to stock avoid audi to see the upgrade/downgrade?
no
always possible for Audi to see it
Audi can basically tell you to fuck off after you do it. Doesn't matter whether you'll flash it back to stock. There is flash counter in the ECU.
WHen I did a stage 1 tune on my s3 it felt a little more sluggish on partial throttle but then on full throttle it was noticeable
yeah you really gotta put your foot down for the tunes to show their potential
FYI... you should always connect a battery charger to your battery while doing a flash to your ECU.

Where have u gone??
I would suggest that you try a pedalbox to fix the throttle response. I don't know if there is one out for the RS3 yet.
Sounds like u need a pedal commander. It will allow u to control throttle response.
is there a big difference, I want to change my 8v rs3 for the new rs3 saloon and stage 1 is definitely on the cards with 505hp
Man, I love your face when all the error codes popped up! Same exact thing happened to me when I flashed my S7 for the first time. My tuner neglected to tell me that would happen. Try a pedal booster for your throttle issues. Heard they actually work quite well.

How many miles on it when u bought it? Add how much did u pay?
the linear throttle is a good thing, especially on a track where you want uber linear throttle modulation.
Thanks for a real review with pros and cons so we can see if it's what we are personally looking for...I will be watching your further videos...thanks again
Just so you know some guys who flashed unitronic went back to stock to be able to flash custom code...but I unitronic left a bunch of stuff on the ECU...
Sounds like you need a pedalbox to fix that throttle response. It's the same on any VAG hot hatch.
No, it's called a turbo
I just got a tuner too! I'm tuning it tomorrow to go with my mods.i got the wireless sct Bama tunes with phone app. I can dyno my mustang too. Best thing to do to your car

This dude the kinda guy to take a selfie for leavin his dads house. 🤣
So what are you going to do now that the APR is available?
Late to the party, does the Unitronic give you access to the tuning tables? If so, you can do a lot with the drive by wire mapping to make lower inputs command more throttle %, and as long as you make small changes at a time its really tough to break anything.

Hello there, I’m about to install the stage 1+ to my Audi rs3, but my first concern is: does the affect the warranty? Do you recommended?
U did not smile. When u pushed it. That says it all
Fabian Nova well I just loaded in my stage1+ and it made me grin from ear to ear, 11.1@125 with just a tune right off my Dragy unit👍
Fabian Nova I cringe when people smile and laugh when they floor it. Very unnecessary.
Cause Unitronic its kinda shit honestly. JB4 better
Kenny Yeats wait wait did you just say that your rs3 with ONLY a tune ran an 11.1 ? How much did it cost and how much are you making on the wheels or crank ?
@@yeatser1 i get 11.9 stock.....i would get 11.1 on stock tires with just a tune ? hard to believe @
Curios why you didnt go with the Iroz tune instead?
I personally would only use GIAC for a tune which I have on my 07 GTI which has 281,000 km on the odometer.
Try a pedal box for throttle response
You ever get your wheels?
at the time of this tune, did you have any bolt ons?
Hey, thanks for the video. Can you do a dyno test on this car to see what the actual HP is? Also can you 0-60?
Hey Fonzie, are you happy with this tune or prefer APR? Do you get more over runs after the tune? Compared to the previous RS3 it lacks the pops and bangs when down shifting which i found very disappointing.

Did u need a boot pin flash for the ecu/tcu?
Is it worth voiding the warranty, though?
Thinking about buying an RS3, and it'll be my most expensive purchase ever. I would love to tune and modify, but it'll also be my daily driver and I'm not sure if I want to risk voiding the warranty.
Apr is out now
Quentin Chew no it's not only beta
Do you recommend this? I bought the same car, and I don’t know if I should
Nice vid Fonzie. Do you plan to do the secondary cat delete, for the price it really does help open things up buddy if you don't want to do DP's yet. +MOD-IT yeah buddy getting secondary cat deletes installed tomorrow :)
That a boy ;-) Its the perfect over all sound and keeps it sane and smelling good for a DD. Cat-less = hello everybody! lol. TTYS
I wouldn't bother even trying APR but going with Iroz, just check out their crazy 8V builds.
Hey Fonzie, as you know, there are not a ton of reviews for the 2018 rs3. I was looking to see if there are any good reviews and turns out... The car i'm looking at, has the exact mods and looks exactly like yours lol so my question to you good sir, why are you selling it?

Would have been better if u had figures before tune and after to show us the difference
Uni is THE way to go with VW Group cars.... ! Well done my friend!
This guy, the power is upper rpms cause it is set up as more of a racing vehicle then these city driving torque set ups...
Price?
That TCU map is available now.
ShopDAP & Paul are awesome!
Im stage 2 unitronic! Ayyyyy
I am dissapoint. The reaction I usually get when I tune a turbo car is HOLY CRAP. I've always tuned with APR but a few more tuners are getting into the scene, Unitronic being one of the old school ones.
lol thats exactly what i said. tune needs more time to adapt. he's spoiled by his RS7 so of course this not gonna feel fast. lol
I'd be spoiled too!
Is his rs7 modded? Because these things with this tune should be running the 1/4 as quick as an rs7.
Motor Playground I'm pretty sure it was if he nodded his rs3 so quick lol
Ok, I retract my statement. I just watched a video of a stg1 RS3 (APR) running mid-10s. HOLY CRAP!
Doesn’t seem like you’re impressed at all lol.
+Fonzie Hmmmmm Stage 2 will add +105HP to my 17' S3.... $750.00. worth it?
You should try Sprintbooster
Sounds like you need a pedal box
Hows the RS3 been?
An RS3 with 500 hp should have no problem equaling an RS7.
You should definitely feel a change in drivability from idle all the way upto redline. Including initial throttle tip in CD-ROM a stop. If not, your tune did not/does not, fully work.
“Yeah... yuuup” 😂😂😂 says it all
low end torque is shit in rs3 with or without a tune, thats what i hate about them.
I'm not a big fan of canned tunes. Is custom tuning hard to find for the RS3? Btw, the days of flashing back to stock to fly under the radar are long gone. how much $?

Hey fonzie are we still doing the fitness challenge?
+Alex SVT absolutely!
Are you a member of the Facebook group?!?
Maybe you need a pedal box so the throttle is more linear... that is a common complaint with S3's and R's. Probably not much different with this car. 😕
It is pronounced with an E at the end and it literally means German car parts
0:10
DeutscheAutoParts, like the first one you pronounced it. The second one is wrong "dutch".
Translated: GermanAutoParts
cool vid. Fonzie, do you believe or think the 100hp over stock hp claim is accurate?
I'd be shook. Over 100hp with just a ecu flash would be ridiculous
Try removing just the resignators for right now
Only costs 100$
(on the exhaust btw)
LOL, 93 Oct? in Europe 95 is considered not good enouth, you can buy 98 on Every gas station and some have even 100!!!

If no turbo in that engine then you hardly can feel more power in less then 50%.. for s3 i know it got turbo in it but not sure for rs3..
Well that was quick
Yeah don't switch from Unitronic.....
Why not APR??? Those guys have been #1 for Audi for a while man
Not as reliable or safe as Unitronic. Unitronic tests software in a variety of situations including at altitude. Here in Denver APR stage 1 tunes were notorious for issues at altitude. I had no problem with my Golf R stage 1 Unitronic driving up the highest mountain roads.

You want to have everything off and no opening of doors or anything during the tuning process.
Make a review of the tune! Let's see some driving.
Anything over an extra 50 hp and tq, should make you smile.
Also owns an rs7? Damn I wish I could just afford the rs3, sigh.
I was thinking the same lol
It's gonna be hard not to throw that tune on my car when I take delivery in about a week
wait for APR. They're getting close to finishing their Stage 1 tune. They haven't released numbers yet but it ran a 10:55 on the 1/4 mile
10,55 on stage 1 alone is impossible! they probably stripped the car + slicks +tcu
Tune it and your powertrain warranty is good bye.
Besid s, I'd not trust anyone else other than the APR experts.
If they don't have a tune out, there's reason for it.
dealership always knows when you flash
'DOI'-CHA' That's how we pronounce 'Deutsche' in the UK
It's pronounced DOY-CHA, it's german for 'German'
Nice
How do you not know how to pronounce Deutsch?
Bruh, you have zero concept of how a turbo engine works...... 🤡

For better low end throttle response, you just need to plug in a sprintbooster. cost 100dollars
Fuck no.
Curious about this
Seriously! You don't know that Deutsche is the German word for German and you own a German car? You need to read a little bit more about the rest of the world.
He owned an S3/RS3 and RS7 and hasn’t a clue how a turbo engine works, he’s complaining about lack of partial throttle power 🤣🤡🤡🤡💀
you are so cuteeeee
Can u send me a dyc shirt because I'm your best fan
Sure send an email to Adam@dipyourcar.com
DipYourCar sent you it my dude
DipYourCar wait if I get a
DipYourCar short from you I'll be part of the team dream come true
DipYourCar Ayyye that's dope! Can I get one too lmao cause I have a dipped car!
GET A PRO TUNE........
