I think I made a personal record of working through the night. I think I went to bed at 9:00am...and I complain about my kids. I hope you enjoy this wrap up of the last 560 days.
WoW, Stitch Sister!! Hugs and Blessings to you❣️ So glad to hear the good news about your son - youre all still in my prayers 🙏 As for you, Sweets, I'm concerned... I used to get sidetracked the same way (sometimes still do when my anxiety and stress level is high)... I heard it in your sighing, another sign. I, too, would find comfort and satisfaction in pulling all-nighters quilting, cleaning my sewing room, ripping things apart (quilts/closets) to re-do or re-organize.... Sometimes this can be good - sometimes it is destructive. I learned what I needed was a few things: 1. Sleep is of the essence! I needed to get back into a healthy routine. With more daily stress in my life I actually needed more - I need now 9-10 hours. I realized I was doing my body: muscles, brain & heart more damage than the stress!! Once the stress levels go down, you may need less. Your body will let you know - look for the signs. 2. Vitamin supplements do help. Stress literally wipes you out. B Comp's are what is needed daily to help with mood. When this is not getting replaced we do not make the right decisions, cry a lot and get even more stressed. It is a bad cycle because your body is running on empty. 3. Water is the life blood. Too often we neglect this simple need. We actually need to "drink half our body weight in ounces of water"... Ex: You weight 200lbs, then drink 100 ounces of just plain water... Hint: Start with water (not caffeine) and Drink throughout the day ending 1 hour before bedtime. You go less as time goes on and your body regulates the water intake, flushing out all the nasty stuff and organs function properly. Yeah! 4. Caffeine is good in moderation. (Tea is a diuretic-makes you go) Limit the caffeine to 1-2 cups in the morning only. You'll see sleep comes easier at night. For that afternoon pick me up, try a handful of protein, like healthy nuts and a short fresh air walk to keep you going. Take the 🐕 5. Time-Talk-Touch. These are the major three things we need Every Day. Take time to pay attention, talk with and touch other family members and you'll receive your dose as well 😊 Sometimes we get so busy, distracted or even lost in our own depressed state we don't realize we are not only hurting ourselves, but the ones we love ❤️ 6. Change it up a bit. Purposely get out of doing things by rote. EX: Have breakfast for dinner, Sit in a different chair, or maybe move furniture around a bit, visit new surroundings, wear something bright and colorful, play like a kid again - better yet... Play with kids, You'll both love it! 7. Find a Sounding Board. Someone outside of the family hub is always best - either professional, a BFF you trust your life with, or even pastorial. Just talking about your stress, troubles, fears, frustrations and aspirations is a positive thing for all of us. Use this as often as needed. 8. Watch what goes in... I realized too many otc meds, another glass of wine, another cookie or bag of chips ??? Aaahh NO! No one else is going to monitor what goes in your body every day, hour, etc. I realized I had to watch what I was doing and keep it all in moderation. If I couldn't do that, I'd stop completely. 9. Do something unexpected and nice for someone else. Doesn't have to be big, expensive or time consuming... Just thoughtful and from the ❤️ If you did it right... you'll realize you were given a gift as well. 10. Pray, meditate or look to your higher power. I would start and end my day this way, and then I realized I found it even more comforting to go about my day thanking Him and Praising my God for all he has provided for me, how much he loves me (and i Him) and asking what more can I do to please Him. Realizing any relationship grows deeper and stronger when you put all of your heart into it. These were things I did to get out of unhealthy habits (and into new good ones) that I found I had been destroying myself with. I wish you well, my Stitch Sister, and for you and all your family to be healthy and happy. Blessings 😘
Ugh I just so value your honesty in your videos! Glad to hear your son is doing better and that you have a self-care plan. Keep speaking out about mental health. You're helping more people than you'll ever know!
Karen,... I know you've seen it a thousand times but ,... THANK YOU,!!!!! I wonder if you ever sit and realize what gift you bring to other quilters. so ,.. take a moment and realize the Love that comes your way via the Air waves. i have been a quilter for over 10 years and I am so glad to have found your channel. Sit for a moment or two and appreciate the day,... what you have achieved and what is yet to come.
I've been watching your videos for about a month now, and I just love you! I found this video especially inspirational. It blows me away how many things you are interested in and all the activities you do. You're my favorite person on UA-cam. Thank you for all your hard work and drive to mentor all of us sewing enthusiasts! Many hugs, and prayers for you and your family! Ps. your quilts are BEAUTIFUL!
So happy to hear your son is better, and will continue prayers for your family. Your finished quilt is beautiful. May you be blessed in all you do! Thank you for all the teaching, and for sharing so much. God Bless you and your family
Thank you for being so real. Life is hard, these times are challenging and its nice to know we aren't alone in our struggle to maintain mental health. And its ok to say so. Thank you for the inspiration. Stay well!
Thanks for taking the time to catch up! You may not think you've gotten much lately, but I'm exhausted from watching you keep with it all. Don't count out the sorting. It's probably just as beneficial as the deep breathing. Glad you all are safe and well, especially your son. I love the you share your mistakes and how we can learn from them. Your mille fiore is amazing!!! Be well.
Besides your wonderful videos of tips & tricks and stories, what I appreciate most is your honesty. Thank you, Karen, for sharing with us! We All Love You!
Awesome news on about your son. Your doing way better than me... I decided to reorganise everything.. Bad move.. 12 weeks on & I'm still sorting and finding UFOs I'd conviently forgotten ooops.. 15 quilts in progress it is then. Just about to start putting everything back into the sewing room then it's quilting catch up I guess lol
Glad your son is doing well and moving forward. I want you to do one thing a day that makes you happy Karen. You need to care for yourself little Missy. You have so much to be thankful for.
Thank you for sharing I will keep you and your son in my prayers. I started quilting because I wanted to remember my grandma. I hope you’re having a blessed day God bless you and your family
I just found this episode. The question about beginning quilting is very special to me. I was one of my eight granddaughters. My grandmother was a quilter. I was the only granddaughter who knew how to sew at the age of eight. I went to spend a week with her and helped her make a quilt. I was hooked. I am still quilting at the age of 75. I have lost count of the quilts I have made, ranging in size from doll bed size to oversized king quilts. My quilts reside in cousins, nieces, nephews, children’s, siblings, former students (three received 😮them as wedding gifts or gifts when receiving their Ph.D.)
Holy Cow you are a busy woman! It is so fun to join you on your adventures in sewing. Your tips and tricks, and struggles are fun to hear and learn from. Prayers that your son continues to heal. Thank you so much for sharing your life with us!!!!
Karen, thank you for being "you". As quilters, we are ALL your friends and pray, smile, giggle & struggle together. I am blessed to have you thru social media, in my life ! Your videos have always been a delight. I can tell, however, that you have become a Pro at it ! I am TRULY happy to hear that your son has completed his chemo! He has been thru so much. Your sewing studio is Amazing & am so happy that you have this space for yourself. Thank you again for sharing your teaching, honesty, and love with all of us out in the world.
Thank you for this "catch up" video. It is so good to know that you have detours getting started on sewing. Very often I get sidetracked when I want to sew. I am very happy to hear that your son's health is improving. Thank you for being real.
Thanks Karen, lovely video. Great quilt you finished. Just remember they are only quilts and they will wait you are the most important factor here. So remember to breath. See you soon. ❤️❤️
I look forward to your videos. You are a breath of fresh air during these Covid days. Thanks for the update on your son and I hope he continues to recover.
Thank you for your inspiration - having a quilter like you sharing your knowledge and heart helps when we have difficult periods in our life and I know that I can lighten the dark times by stitching, How we learn to deal with adversity gets us through!
Hugs from Melbourne, Australia. A million thanks for the motivation to tackle my old quilt tops and projects that have been in storage for...years! I certainly have the time...and skills...just needed the push to get them done! Stitching down the binding on my first finished quilt in 10yrs. Feels awesome!
So glad to hear you son is doing well. Thanks for all you do for us - hang in there, things will get better. I know that sounds a bit trite but I'm sure it's true. 💗
Dear Karen, We haven't met, but I feel like you're an old friend. I deeply appreciate your candor and choice to be vulnerable. It's hard to slog thru difficult times. You and your son continue to be in my prayers. Thank you for imparting such helpful quilting ideas (even if we struggle to lift off with them). Since "discovering" you 3 months ago, I look forward to each new post you make! I started quilting in earnest in February when I inherited my aunt's unfinished sampler blocks. When I realized covid was going to isolate us all, I stocked up on supplies. Slowly, but surely, I am learning...now on my 4th quilt...which has been a goal for years! Thank you & God bless you 💖
You are absolutely wonderful! Thank you for all these videos, they are so informative. Glad to hear that you took time off for yourself, self care is so important. Wishing you and your family the best.
Hi Karen. I started quilting because my grandmother made me 3 quilts and I still love them. They were made out of scraps of clothing and other fabrics that she cut up and made crazy quilts. My children enjoyed them on their beds in the winter when they were growing up. So I started out doing that kind of quilting and have done some other easy quilts as well. My favorite is scrappy quilts made with scraps. String quilts, crazy quilts and simple blocks. Love your videos. Be encouraged. We are all missing our normal lives. You are not alone. I look forward to seeing you in the videos! So happy to hear that your son is getting well. I am praying that he will be completely restored and will never deal with this again. Love and hugs to you!
OH MY GOODNESS, KAREN! YOU ARE AMAZING!!! I cannot fathom the amount of work you have accomplished in four months. Just the computer work alone.. wowed me, and then everything else, like wow! Your videos are my very favorite. I have watched them over and over in the wee hours of the night (that’s my spare time) and I have followed Your techniques and have improved my quilt making! Yay. Thank you for sharing and being so Inspiring 💗👍💖, Chris-Raleigh NC
Karen, I really enjoy all of your videos, the way you share your knowledge, wisdom and your self with all of us. I have binge watch so many of your videos and tried so many of your techniques with great success! Thank you for sharing your talent and transparency with all of us!
So pleased your son had finished treatment. I am from the UK and love your videos. I have to look after my mental health and things can get too much I totally resonate with your words thank you 😊❤️
Thank you for another great video, Karen. Yes, we are a community of quilters who love well--our families, our neighbors, each other, and QUILTING. Life is constantly throwing things at us, but as an old saying goes, "When life throws you scraps, make a quilt." We are a resilient bunch, but it's helpful to know that others face some of the same challenges we do. My son was diagnosed with a rare and serious cancer in 1999, and we went through a lot. But he is doing very well now. I'm glad to hear your son is doing better. Hang in there, girlfriend. You are doing an amazing job! Love your videos and YOU!
Glad your son is feeling better. You have people all over the world praying for him. I have been watching your videos for some time. I have to say your work was good before but now it is really something. Keep up the great work. We all appreciate watching and enjoy your enthusiasm.
No need to push thru your projects...some of us are happy enough to share 'fiddling about' time ..all of which is never wasted! All the best to you and your son.
Your videos are always inspirational and honest. I appreciate your open humanness as we all go through these uncomfortable times. When you reach out and give of yourself to this community I hope you have a good sense of so many of us reaching back to you with all good thoughts and wishes.
I started my morning sipping a cup of coffee & watching your video. Your opening scene when you are leaving your home made me smile. You have accomplished a lot during quarantine. Continued prayers for you & your son.
I'm so happy for you and your son! Take good care of each other. My heart and prayers are with you. Thanks for letting us share in a bit of your life. Quilters are awesome!
I'm so glad to hear that your son is going better ma'am. You look really tired...lol. I can't thank you enough for all of your videos & tutorials, they've helped & improved my overall sewing and quilting tremendously! I really love the quilt that you have displayed in this video. I look forward to watching your next video! 💜 Take care of yourself and know that you're not aline when it comes to be over exhausted from taking care of everything & everyone. I'm a Stay-At-Home-Mom of 6 young kiddos, and will be Homeschooling 4 of then this coming School year. So lots & lots of love, patients, ☕...and more of all of the above. 💜☕💜 Take care...💙
Enjoy your you tube! I get so discouraged at times, and you help me realize all quilters feel the same, but once the quilt is finished I am pleased with it! So happy your son is doing better, may God continue to bless him! 🤗
Hang in there Karen. We are all still living in the upside down and some days nothing works out. When I sew/clean the machine/organize scraps/make new scraps or just pet my BabyLock like a little puppy I instantly feel better. Big hugs.
Glad your son is getting along better. Love all your videos! I appreciate the time you take to make them. I have learned a lot and am in the process of sorting my scraps - which desperately needs to be done! Blessings to you and your family!
So happy to hear your son is doing well. I can relate to flitting from one thing to another. But at least little bits and pieces of this and that are progress. Hugs and many thanks to you Karen. You are that light in the darkness❣️
Just so you know, I would love to live by you and get together for coffee or just visit. You make me feel very WELCOME, and I am inspired. Not to do anything, in particular..... [thaaaaat's actually why I need you as my neighbor! A kick in the pants.... 😉] Glad your son is doing well, glad you're trying to take care of yourself. Be safe ❤
Glad your son is doing well. Last year I rushed to make a blue and white quilt for my precious son. His cancer was sudden, rare, untreatable, and in 3 1/2 months he was at peace with Jesus. He lived 41 years and 41 days. I love watching quilting videos but have not had time to sew much. Keep praying and I am sure you treasure every day.
Praise the Lord your son is better!! What a tremendous blessing!! You are a rock star. I think maybe you don't even realize it. The quilts you take on are amazing and you do such a beautiful job with them. The one you are half done on is stunning!! Have a wonderful week!!
Hang in there. We are all in this together and you are not alone in the feelings you have been having, trust me. I'm so glad that your son is doing ok.
Your warmth and sincerity is very much needed during this awful time. Have you heard the saying "A mother can be only as happy as her unhappiest child."? Your concentration and ability to focus will improve as the health of your son improves. Just natural. Bless you both.
We all need to give ourselves Grace in these stressful times. We are doing the best we can! We don't have to be perfect. Take care of yourself, I very much appreciate your videos, I always learn something (like batting that doesn't need pinning - wow that's a game changer!)
I started quilting because I was fired from my job. I had never sewn in my life. My mother sews though but this was not enough for me to do it. But needless to say it saved my life and I am grateful for it.
Your choice of colors are perfect for the quilts designs. These projects are truly AWESOME! As an aside, I really like your new segue method of editing . Much more enjoyable to follow your great videos. Thank you!
I don't follow many people, but I find I look forward to your videos. You have a natural way about you that I find both soothing and inspiring. You touched my heart with your comments about the "puttering " you did, instead of quilting. I think a lot of us are finding ourselves somehat fractured, and we don't have the additional concern about a loved one. Your getting yourself back to quilting was a good reminder to be strong and get back to being busy. Thanks
You are so wonderful! My thoughts and prayers are with you and your son. Your latest quilts are beautiful. I hope to get there someday just learning one step at a time. Your videos and teaching style is fantastic. Thank you and I look forward to you next video.
I absolutely love watching your channel. Your designs are beautiful and your voice is so soothing. When I'm stressed from doing schoolwork/studying for tests I always find myself searching for one of your videos to relax. Thank you so much! I'm glad your son is doing better!
I think I made a personal record of working through the night. I think I went to bed at 9:00am...and I complain about my kids. I hope you enjoy this wrap up of the last 560 days.
Loved it.
LOL And you always tell your watchers to "get enough rest!"
WoW, Stitch Sister!! Hugs and Blessings to you❣️ So glad to hear the good news about your son - youre all still in my prayers 🙏
As for you, Sweets, I'm concerned... I used to get sidetracked the same way (sometimes still do when my anxiety and stress level is high)... I heard it in your sighing, another sign. Your videos are my very favorite. I have watched them over and over in the wee hours of the night (that’s my spare time) and I have followed Your techniques and have improved my quilt making! Yay.
Thank you for sharing and being so Inspiring 💗👍💖, Chris-Raleigh NC
Thank you so much!
And by the way, YOUR QUILTS ARE GORGEOUS!!! 💖👍🥰
So good to see you, Karen.!
Karen, I really enjoy all of your videos, the way you share your knowledge, wisdom and your self with all of us. I have binge watch so many of your videos and tried so many of your techniques with great success! Thank you for sharing your talent and transparency with all of us!
Congratulations to your son on his final chemo treatment! And yes, the isolation from friends starts to take a toll. Thanks for sharing!
Thank you
So pleased your son had finished treatment. I am from the UK and love your videos. I have to look after my mental health and things can get too much I totally resonate with your words thank you 😊❤️
❤️
❤️
Am happy that your son is so much better. Cancer is a terrible thing.
I am sorry to hear about your sons illness. Being a cancer survivor, I will keep you in my prayers. One day at a time and breathe ❤️
🤗
Your videos are always inspirational and honest. I appreciate your open humanness as we all go through these uncomfortable times. When you reach out and give of yourself to this community I hope you have a good sense of so many of us reaching back to you with all good thoughts and wishes.
Thank you so much!
I started my morning sipping a cup of coffee & watching your video. Your opening scene when you are leaving your home made me smile. You have accomplished a lot during quarantine. Continued prayers for you & your son.
Thank you
Happy to hear your son is doing better. By the way I love your hair😊 thank you for sharing with us.
Super, better sound! Yay!!! Love your vlogs and You Tubes! 💕🦋
OOH! OOH! I Love this. Looks hard !!! Beautiful!
Glad your son is doing well, glad you're trying to take care of yourself.
I so sorry for your loss 🤗🤗🤗
Praise the Lord your son is better!! What a tremendous blessing!!
You are a rock star. I think maybe you don't even realize it. The quilts you take on are amazing and you do such a beautiful job with them. The one you are half done on is stunning!! Have a wonderful week!!
Hang in there. We are all in this together and you are not alone in the feelings you have been having, trust me. I'm so glad that your son is doing ok.
Wonderful news on your son 🙂🇬🇧
Thank you Karen I love watching you🤗 hope you feel better soon ! All the best to you and your family ❤️
Your warmth and sincerity is very much needed during this awful time. Have you heard the saying "A mother can be only as happy as her unhappiest child."? Your concentration and ability to focus will improve as the health of your son improves. Just natural. Bless you both.
Always love seeing a new video from you...you are good for my mental health 😁
😊
We all need to give ourselves Grace in these stressful times. We are doing the best we can! We don't have to be perfect. Take care of yourself, I very much appreciate your videos, I always learn something (like batting that doesn't need pinning - wow that's a game changer!)
So happy for the wonderful news about your son, I understand the stress. prays that things keep going forward.
Glad to hear your son is doing better.
I started quilting because I was fired from my job. I had never sewn in my life. My mother sews though but this was not enough for me to do it. But needless to say it saved my life and I am grateful for it.
Thanks for the life update and joy to your son and your family. The first thing I noticed was the improved sound. Great job.
Thank you for sharing this video. Everytime I see one of your videos. I feel so inspired and excited. God bless you and your family.
I get it. It’s so hard being separated from our friends. It’s wonderful about your sons progress. Prayers are being answered
Love your lessons and everything you do about quilting! Thank you from Maine
Absolutely love your honesty. You are so real. Thank you. 😍
Thanks
❤️
You are so wonderful! My thoughts and prayers are with you and your son. Your latest quilts are beautiful. I hope to get there someday just learning one step at a time. Your videos and teaching style is fantastic. Thank you and I look forward to you next video.
I absolutely love watching your channel. Your designs are beautiful and your voice is so soothing. When I'm stressed from doing schoolwork/studying for tests I always find myself searching for one of your videos to relax. Thank you so much! I'm glad your son is doing better!
Thank you
Great news about your son. Amazing amount of work that you have done! Beautiful quilts - and the cushion is very swish!
An Ikea bag. Perfect in every way!
Peace and good mental health for you!! Thank you for energizing me!!
Glad to hear you son is better
Thank you
