Would be cool to see you make a split-pin crankshaft and accompanying camshafts to turn it into a proper boxer engine, so it won't shake itself to death from the crazy rocking couple caused by the shared crankpins
Flat engines are designed like that tho, thats what makes it a flat engine and not a boxer
@@gundamned4879 Flat plane crank, like the Corvette Z06, which sounds awesome.
nop not the same thing@@allenl9031
Well, the engine is tiny it could be a 1 can thumper and still rev to 30,000
@@allenl9031 Yeah not quite the same there, 'flat' is referring to crankshaft setup for horizontally opposed engines, flat engines use shared crank pins for opposed pairs like a V engine, Boxer refers to those being 180 degrees apart so the pistons move opposite to each other and cancel out more of the vibrations making it smoother, both setups are still flat plane.
love the load testing as well demonstrates its really weight carrying capacity
Can we expect a set of UEL headers to get that signature rumble sound ?
Still wouldn't sound quite right unfortunately, Subaru and VW are specifically boxer 4's. Boxers are flat, but not all flat are boxers.
Boxers have the opposing pistons synchronised to reach TDC/BDC at same time as each other whereas you can see on this crankshaft the piston on the left reaches TDC at the same time as the piston on the right reaching BDC
You mean that vomit inducing sound that makes me that accepts that people have different tastes in car culture than me and respects that fucking hates with a passion
It won‘t rumble, it‘s a flat 4, not a boxer.
Flat 4 is basically a 180 degree V, two pistons share a crankshaft pin. Boxers have a pin for each piston, which means the movement is different.
@@Phrew It will. even an inline 4 will rumble with UEL headers.
@@Phrewthat literally has nothing to do with the rumble sound caused by the unequal length of the exhaust header. The Shelby gt350 is a flat plane v8, but it doesn't sound like a flat plane v8 because they use unequal length headers.
That cooling fan looks so cool. Reminds me of an air cooled 911 engine.
9:58 I think it's because that belt is stretching out and the slack is getting pulled into the fan. You can see it stretching the first time it runs during revs.
but you don't really see it getting pulled into the fan, I suppose its just because of the high rpm. the pulley ratio is rather big so that fan is spinning like twice the speed of the engine
This has to be one of my favorite toyan models! I own the first FS-S100A and it still runs amazing after almost 3 years.
I believe the reason the fan broke is bc if you look @6:18 you can see that as you rev the engine the fan belt starts expanding quite a lot, I'm sure the belt came off the pulley and got sucked into the fan and caught between the fan blade & shroud.
I miss this kind of content, while I like seeing these different engines being run its nice to see them do some work rather than just a static run test. Hoping for more videos like this in the future! 👍👍
i was just thinking about setting up a somewhat bright nightlight in the bedroom, h7 seems like a good idea but i didnt know how to power it without some awful power adapter.
this seems to be the perfect solution, the wife's going to love it!
This is what i missed, doing something with these engine builds! I love watching your modifying and/or use of these engines in something other than a static display. Looking forward to "something larger is coming!"
Ikr theyre so cute especially the overhead camshaft was so small!!
That is one of the best sounding engines out of the box !
So hype for the coming dyna !
Thanks for the vid.
Rather than metal rings, probably would've made this work with teflon ones. It rides better, seals better, doesn't wear as much and there's never enough heat in such an engine to touch the teflon. Back in the day, it was my favorite method to make a very long term flying (endurance race) RC. Also, they keep using flat pistons, but just like the real deal, shaped heads have better ignition, heat distribution and compression.
Imagine a miniature VW Beetle with this engine, so cool
My first thoughts exactly !
Dune Buggy with visible engine.
it would be awesome if you could also get the "tweet" note out of the exhaust!
It will never be a Beetle because this is not a Boxer engine.
@@albinklein7680 The boxer engine is a flat engine, belonging to the type of internal combustion engine. The engine pistons are arranged horizontally and symmetrically on each side of a central rotating crankshaft. When operating, they move continuously and in opposite directions, transfer force to the crankshaft, helping the crankshaft to move. It’s called “boxer” because the way the pistons move is like a boxer throwing punches. You have just learned something today.
I love these vids so much. Been watchin forever. Thanks for all the awesome content 🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻
Absolutely beautiful piece of engineering.
Looks like the air cooled 911 look. Would be sweet to see a flat 6
Thank you man for this awesome history about out sports. Will be waiting for for. Thanks once more
I wasn't expecting this a flat 4 miniature engine. This is interesting.
This thing is just the ultimate cuteness! I'd love to see you hook it up to a car or rc truck and see how competitive it is.
Flat 4 and 6 engines are such runners...
Alright! You are making a dyno!! I love your videos!
OMG ITS PERFECT... for a Impreza build.
Thanks Johnny 👍🏻👍🏻👌🏻
The mini motor master back at it
soo much torque
This Chanel is amazing
C'est juste magnifique
Круто !!!
Мне нравятся оппозитные моторы !!!
Есть в них что-то такое....
Думал опять какая-нибудь пневматическая игрушка, но оказалось что нет. Нормальный мотор !
You have a great life Mr Q
This guy is going to aquire all possible knowledge of cars and build us the ultimate RC vehicle no DIY person has done before
Nice Boxxer Engine.🤩
This little jewel would be perfect driving, for example, a Porsche 550 Spyder, the one owned by James Dean. Congratulations, it's beautiful!
😮😮😮 I know what I want for Christmas
4:37 could probably make a quick and dirty C shaped cradle that goes in that gap and hugs the crank case, affixed in place with the existing leg bolt(s). From it, simple flat legs could come out that later could be engine mounts (for example).
You could use the rubber isolators used for radios, test equipment (you can find them online with "vibration isolator electronics").
Good call on trying to find out power output, you can always improve it in the future, with big resistor for exemple and trying to find out the efficiency of the system
On the Toyan FS-L400, same number of cylinder, fuel and displacement, they give the power output of 3.05hp, so 2200 watts... yeah, right...
Relly has good footage and an excellent "dyno setup" Well I sort of talked about that idea 9 months ago, in a coment I made, a bit tricky but very nice. I'm an electrician and we use dry resistant or a dry generator coupled like that set up for engine-generator tests and it's good to test temperature and horsepower/ consumption. Just need to make a conversion on the load/ Jules/power output/ time. You have charts conversions online. Very nice 👌
Nice kit
It's really the brand that best manufactures its production, offering excellent value for money.
Hey if you didnt see it, on the Adam Savage Tested channel, they recently went to a makers fair and were showing some pretty amazing little engines.
What were the engine temps like with the fan cooled engine?
You have videos like therapy
Love the generator idea. Make it so it can be used to charge a car battery then run an inverter off it so you can run stuff in an emergency
that thing is awesome, I love how the fan is directed to blow right on the block
Sound so siiick
This is very cool video and engine.
Would be GREAT to install in an Vintage Vw Buggy RC Car!!!
gotta put that in a 1980 aircooled porsche 911 rc model. nice build.
Hey, I have been wondering all these videos, what torque screwdriver are you using?
Great videos. Would you post a link to the tools you use please? Thanks! Most interested in the cordless screwdriver and torque screwdriver.
Those torque click shots are what i’m really here to see.
It's like Christmas, Birthday, Easter, Thanksgiving, Halloween together.. Can't wait until you upload a new video 🤪🤪🤪 Greetings from the Swiss Alps 🤪🤣🤘
Cool hook-up to the wattage meter!!! Love ALL your videos!!! : >)
i rely miss seeing you mod RC cars
I was just thinking about your audience. Probably us who actually enjoy building things, engines. Cool so see such a tiny thing work.
Today's a better day now, JohnnyQ90 fix, time to build a Subaru WRX Monster with that flat four.
Yeah I noticed when you put the timing belt on after tightening it the crank mark was out by one tooth. 3:57 it moves after tightening it
Yep. Watching in .25 speed @ 4:00-:03, the cams both move with "left" cam moving the most. The timing marks should be more precisely located and indicated so all builders can get valve timing right the first time.
That’s awesome! But the single rotor rotary engine spins at over 30,000 rpm.. imagine a miniature 4 rotor!
Love the primitive dyno
I wanna see upgrades and retesting!!
Hmmmmmmmm a nice Porche build with this engine would be stunning O.O
Κάθε ένας κινητήρας και πιο όμορφος....!
What brand of torque wrenches do you use ? thanks
Would you be capable of making a mini turbo to test if the reaction is the same as full scale ? and test it on other engine not only this one.
Too bad it's not a boxer
How is it not?
@@DavidGragg82cylinders are not opposed. It's a flat 4, not a boxer 4
@@dantevito1193 yep telltale sign is that a boxer doesn’t share crank pins
the opposing pistons always move to another or away from another. the crankshaft would look a lot different.
this here is the same as a V engine, only not at 60° or so, but at 180°@@DavidGragg82
Naw man why would you wanna have to deal with a blown head gasket on your model engine 😂
Wish it was a TRUE Flat 4 = Boxer engine. It is 'just' a 180° V4, sounds like it too. Thanks for sharing!
I'm currently rebuilding my Lancia Gamma engine... this looks oddly familiar ^^
how do you transfering the power from engine to the bulb? Could anyone please explain me where do you put the cables or full tutorial? Thank youuu
9:58
Something “hit the fan” whilst showing off 😂
Hola donde podría comprar ese tipo de carro a control remoto se ve genial
I was trying to figure out whether this was a VW style boxer, or the "modern" Subaru boxer style. After seeing the overhead cams, I'm thinking the model designers decided to take a bit of both and build a Frankenstein engine of the two. It's "technically" an air-cooled Subaru, but I could be wrong.
That crank makes it a 180° v4
What if we give electric current to glow plugs only on one side ? Will it work ? Or it may sound different?
That is so crazy... those piston rings tho... does the gap close up? they seamed to have an awefully big gap in them... So amazing how it is a REAL ICE and has a lot of the exact same componants, just shrunk down!!! I get so amazing watching these and would love to own a bunch of these myelf, but this would be a hobby that got out of control and my wife would kill me for spending that kind of money on a small engine, LOL.
Good video
Assembly time? Looks so cool!!
What torque wrench do you use and do you like it?
The level of detail on these components is staggering ..
Where do you buy the aluminum extrusions?
Now, combine 3 of them and build a Ferrari 312T2 around it!
We need some cam adjustment so its firing a tad bit more early so it rumbles on idle
Are there any upcoming videos for the 1/5 car?
i had it hard all the time please explain : why don't you put some cream on them head pad first before mounting every head?
Mini subaru RC car possibly???? Subarus are my favorite and I'd love to see tiny little UEL headers.
I just ran mine through a 3rd tank. This engine is amazing when the carbs are set right! Beautiful engine too! Though yer two cam dots faced down and it still ran. Mine were faced straight up. And it ran. This is weird.
It will almost always run because it needs no spark timing due to the glow plugs.
@@albinklein7680 yeah I know. Not my only nitro engine I've had. Mainly focused on valve timing. As those do need to open at a set time
What kind of RC model would you run a motor like this?
What brand of transmitter are you using??
looks more like a boxer engine, very very cool!
Rc plane build with this engine? Might need to machine off some material to save weight but if anyone could do it you could!
It woild make for a nice scale rotax 912
Do you have turbo Diesel engine
Can you use the fans as a supercharger?
What is that little torque wrench you use?
those head cover gaskets are made outa the same paper subaru uses
Can you just use diesel fuel with 2cycle oil as I runs off of glow plugs the same as a diesel
When I saw the title, I was thinking that it would be a subaru type boxer engine, but no, because the crankshaft is different.
Can you make a 1/5th scale vw bug?
Ypu should build a Race car of your own choice, with one of your engines.. maybe a v12 👍 And to top it off, make a Hybrid system to the car.. would be so amazing 💪 keep up the good work man 💪👍
i wonder the way to make sure all the plugs were working in a multiple system
I have suggestion/request. I think that building a ship with a real miniature engine would be a very interesting idea. It might not be possible due to some reasons. It might be out of your area of expertise, not the right parts available, project would take too long or wouldn’t be an interesting build but I thought it might be worth sharing.
need an 1/4 80s porsche and a light platform to make it a rocket
As an STI owner, I approve.
Sadly it’s a flat four (like a flat V essentially) not a boxer 4 like a subaru due to the shared crank connection. You would have noticed that opposing pistons reach TDC/BDC at the same time respectively so you’d get pistons 1&3, 2&4 firing in sync rather than in an order like a subaru
180˚ V4... I’m still waiting for the miniature NR engine 😊
@@currymejesus4206 oohh i didnt know that!! thanks for pointing it out!!
@@TumzDK ahhh ok thx, you'd think I'd know the difference lol.
Es para un pequeño Bocho?
