  • This song was completely improvised, the first song that I played in a concert in Bali. The first time I sung this melody, this arrangement of words and chords.
I love to improvise, to work with the energy of the environment, mother earth and the people to create a collective prayer and response to that energy.
People ask me all the time, how can you play for hours and hours and just write new music
(I literally write so so much music, I could bring out many albums by now)
I can improvise for 9 hours straight without stopping, playing continuously new music, melodies and prayers. I love doing it, and it's a continuous prayer and love for mother earth.
The way I'm able to do this is that I've liberated my sense of ownership over the music.
It is something that comes through me, though it is not mine.
We are programmed so much in society, this is my music, my land, my woman, my etc
    .
There is a way to take care of things, protect them, Be a guardian of them, and at the same time to not control, and to not have to own them.
Many indigenous cultures have lived like this for thousands of years, and they lived in harmony with nature, because we were one with nature. We breathed as one organism.
    This is pure love
You don't have to own and control.
Take care of it with love, so she can trust you, so the land can trust you, so the ancestors can trust you, so music can trust you.
    What you take care of,
    will take care of you
Your control and sense of ownership is full of ego and separating you from its love.
there are always agreements and trust, but that's why we take care of each other and always act from integrity.
Become one with the music, one with her love, one with the land.
    Breathe as one
Watch how much beauty you can co create with this pure love
