For the past few phones I have bought it wasn't because the old phone was slow, but because software support ended. The a54 will get 4 years of software support whereas the older phones you recommended are on their last year or two
Software support means more to me than ability to game. I don't play video games. But with the A54, I'm good on support till 2027. Plus, SD expansion for pics and video.
Don’t forget you only get updates on the OS for 3 years from the introduction date of the phone, and security updates for one year after that. That is why you may not want to get a older flagship phone.
Battery life combined with a micro SD card slot is what you're getting with this phone. Of course it's not as good as flagships performance wise, but the other phones that you mentioned aside from the s20 FE don't have it. My problem with the S20 FE is that the battery life was simply average and if you're getting a used or a refurb it's probably even worse than it was new.
A series was really cool in the begining, in 2016-2017. It was almost like flagships. My first acquaintance with Samsung phones start with A3 2017. It was small fast computer with good photos. A50 and a52 and A33 and A22 which I saw at my brother's and sisters are really midranges and haven't such a pleasant experience and design like A3 2017 has. There are such a great phones like S10e or S10 Lite with real flagship experience and design which cost less than recent year midrangers.
talk about 2017 A3 i actually bought that phone back in 2017 for my grandpa since he wants small phone and he still rocking it today and yeh i agree that thing has the best design like its literally a s7 but smaller
Probably a big reason is that a new midrange phone will be less troublesome in terms of battery life, software support and general use. So unless youre the odd gamer or enthusiasist who also doesnt just buy new top end phones by default you probably wont care about the performance differences.
Very biased, no mention of Google 6a being buggy with a small battery, less bright screen and old refresh rate. We don't all buy phones for high level gaming, some of us work for a living and a mobile is a productivity toool, 128GB mobiles are hopeless for me 256GB still a compromise. An A54 offers SD card expansion so I would have to look at an S22 Ultra which very desireable but a whole new price level. The A54 offers a new 5000 mah battery, it uses the full version of OneUI and comes with 4 years worth of upgrades, Samsung warranty etc. Bixby is better than native Google routines. I rarely take photos in the dark, why would I? I currently have an S10+ as my backup phone, it's great but software support is maxed out, the battery in getting old and I need something with SD card support and it must be waterproof. The A54 looks a good buy.
Even the S20 FE Exynos version can deal with the A54 and put it on a ditch. The mere fact that the S20 FE has the Dex mode while the A54 no makes a LOT of difference.
A52s 5g was the last best from the A series I must say. Now I upgraded to S23 Ultra and I would say its worth the price and probably the longevity it will give me. Good gift for me since its 2023 and I was born the 23rd lol xx
@@leophoenix1452 It's still better than the Pixel 7 Pro. All comparisons I've seen is with Pixel 7 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max or equivalent flagship. There's no comparison unless you really just want a Pixel.
@@SamSard its not even in the close price range and P7P is last year's phone. Be that as it may the overall experience on the Pixel beats out the S23U hands down
@@Cs-jw9jr LMAO. Just say you don't like One UI, which is fine. I've been using Samsung S series since at least 2021 and One UI has been pretty great. I occasionally customise some elements but I'm pretty much back to stock look and feel. Not a great fan of most UIs, including Google
You said nothing but straight facts. People think new phones are always better than old phones which is absolutely wrong. I could keep my s20 fe for 2 to 3 more years and it would still be great.
I know I've seen the S21 fe on sale alot at a similar price as the 54 too, the snapdragon version as well, might be a bit iffy on battery life but it's just over a year old so it still has 3 android and 4 years of security updates left
@@steveguy3nfortunately Samsungs with Snapdragon are a little difficult to see even in the new S23 here in Brazil, despite the S20 and 21 FE being successful, along with the A54.
@@insist1754 snapdragon 865, battery I not amazing just enough, on average I get minimum of 5 hours but when I really want to save battery I can get up to 7 or 8 hours
Im probably biased but as someone who sold an s22 to move to the a54 due to how bad the standard s22 battery is i cant fault this device at all. Being an eu model with 8gb ram apart from wireless charging which i personally never used the a54 does everything my s22 could do. Older flagships with less upgrades, no warranty, smaller battery unless getting the ultra series of devices i dont understand why anyone would even look at buying the older flagships. The average consumer (me realising i am one) who realised i only use my phone's for the basics and media consumption wont ever need the best of the best. The a54 has the processing power and Ram to handle multiple tasks at once. Expandable storage. In all honesty if people are still buying flagship phones for tasks such as gamings they should just look at having a poco of Xiaomi phone with quick charge and better battery charging. The damage gaming does to the high discharge of the battery with regular charging is like burning money. And yes i do own a poco f4gt gaming phone with the battery technology to cope with high discharge and charge. I do highly recommend buying the a54 8gb ram model. Most tasks i do sit at the ram used at about 5gb and i do badics
I'm not saying the a54 is an upgrade just saying that for 90 percent of the people they don't need any Snapdragon 8 generation handset. Most people just need good battery life. And no stuttering. The s22 series in general was riddled with awful battery life. I am slightly biased as I game on a.poco f4gt Snapdragon 8 gen 1 and 12gb ram@@oussama4629
From the old phones mentioned here, I would only consider the S21 Ultra this was a 1099$ phone 3 years ago. But would not pay more than 350$ for it. A54 has the advantage is a phone from last year and if you buy it used like me it means you buying a few moths old phone instead of a 2-3 years used phone which will have a more abused battery.
I got the A54 new for $360 8/256 now compare that. Things about Pixel 6a is that it has smaller battery, smaller screen and 60 fps. S20 FE it's hard to find a new one and maybe one more system update for the life cycle.
One BIG reason you can buy A54 over S20 FE, A54 will get android updates for next 4 updates till Android 17 also security patches. S20 FE will not be updated after this Android & you will be stuck with same Android version for as long as Phone lasts or you want to phone to have.
I'd be curious what a good upgrade from an s10e would be nowadays. Even though I also find the phone to be amazing, I'm still shocked at how highly praised it is, and that people would consider upgrading to it NOW, so finding what would actually be a decent step up from it is hard! The phone is still really, really solid, but in combo with my lack of battery care knowledge and maybe just age, the battery definitely isn't working for me anymore, if I'm traveling, just having my train schedule up and occasionally looking at google maps, it will die in a few hours even on max power saving mode. I really just want a good camera upgrade mainly, and again, the ability to keep it for years and years. And maybe not a monster-sized phone either...
@@combativesquire4234 yeah I have heard good things about the s23s, but definitely out of my price range at the moment 😂 still looking in the 3-500 ballpark
@@combativesquire4234 you know, totally forgot second hand would be a thing for the S23s already, always in my mind that it'd be a while. I'll have to keep an eye out, thanks!
Yeah my personal experience is that the midrange and budget galaxy’s are so incremental in their updates your better off buying a older flagship! The only thing newer phones are better at is usually battery
I have the Samsung A 14 5G as a second mobile for an international trip. And I love it! My idea is to jump later to a flagship one, certainly to the next S24 ultra. It is just a matter of time. But the mobile is awesome, when you don´t compare it to any other. Surely, there is always a better one for everything. But, when you have something you get used to it and you don´t compare it to anything. I am in peace and satisfied with my decision of getting the A14 5G for now. It is a worth deal, specially for the price range and the awesome and unexpected great features for a budget mobile.
I've got the S 21 Ultra and I bought it brand new. It's an awesome phone so if you can get your hands on one go for it. It even has S Pen support...any S Pen which you can get for like 20 dollars (some pens come with the cases) will work. We just got the astrophotography mode and it's a stunning looking phone....not that boxy design they're going with right now.
Just bought a S10 a few days ago and love it! Played Pubg today and it was butter smooth on ultra HD, ultra graphics. No lag at all and didn't really get that hot. Love the curved 1440p display.
My last midranger was A71.....never again, I buy S series since then. They're choppy, camera is way worse than S10 at the time, battery is nothing to talk about, multitasking is not good, even sound is a big compromise. But the highlight for me is the choppiness, doesn't feel good at all...
I agree 100%. I have a S21 5G with 256GB of storage that I bought last year for $327 on Amazon. Sure, it has a slightly smaller screen than the A54, but it slaughters the A54 in performance. I had a Note 10 before getting the S21, and the Note 10 would also slaughter the A54. The only legitimate reason I could recommend anyone getting the A54 is if it was free or heavily subsidized on a carrier/service provider.
Main issue with A series is they degrade tremendously over time. They slow down and stutter less than a year in. The 5000mah battery performance is usually decent at the start and can get you through more than a day but 6 months after, you'll realised the battery can barely get you through a entire day of light use (no gaming or photography). It is also worth noting that OneUI on A & S series will have some slight variation. You're much better off buying an older generation S series that comes with better performance chipset and more premium haptics.
me too have use A52 5G 1.6year, battery life VS my S21FE battery life, A52 battery life will good , S21FE battery life not good, this S21FE from cheap price buy, 1900hkd, me one choice A52 not bad but A52 old year buy price so high,A52 have use 3000hkd, now long time use A52 it 3year to 4year now price so cheap, now A52 no new buy 1700hkd to 1800 hkd so very cheap price😂🤣🤪🤡
Advantages of Samsung a54: 1. Newer phone which means more software support. 2. Better battery life than all of these devices you mentioned. 3. Expandable storage. 4.A new design that looks like s24 plus.
The pixel 6a only has 128gb, no SD card slot, this is way too small. My phone is nearly full already (redmin note 7 64gb + 64gb sd card). If the issue is only with game, fine, who plays PUBG on mobile anyway when you can do it from home on a real computer ? I am sure that for the average joe like me who wants a reliable phone with security patchs, take good photos and once in a while play a little game (not a 3d game) the a54 is actually very good... I hope so because I receive it in two days lol.
Wow I mean, I’ve got a note 20 ultra that I bought for 350, and its so much better than the a54. As a reviewer of 1 almost 2 phones so far, I recommend the s21 ultra or pixel 7. I’ve reviewed Z Fold 4 and soon S23 Ultra.
Problem with older flagships is you can't guarantee the screen hasn't been replaced with a crappy one. Got an 11 pro max from Amazon refurbished and the screen was awful. Luckily they refunded me. Also the issue of support length..
im still happy with my a52s snapdragon 778, 8 hrs used not bad for 4500 mah ❤ 4hrs games others fb ,yt etc. Straight game with 5g on is 4 hrs to 6 hours nonstop depends on the environment. If cold or heat, sometimes it lasts 6 hours if cold 😊
Use old phones people. There is so much e-waste. My Pixel4 is out of this world compared to the latest phones, still can't make the switch. Phone makers need to release phones every 2-3 years, not yearly.
I considered the a54 but I ended up deciding to just spend a bit more and get the original phone I'd wanted, the s22 ultra refurbished, and god damn I am so happy I did, I'm in love. Slightly older flagships>>>>
It does still have an exynos chip but it's still pretty quick (im not a gamer, if im playing games its mario kart on my wii or switch) and everything else about it is so incredible
@SupremeCody not bad at all! I'm not sure how it is on the brand new s22 ultra, but I can easily get most of the day out of a single charge (I use my phone A LOT during the day) and then just top it up for about an hour and a half if needs be
@@michaelhettrick8510 have you ever heard anyone's bank app being hacked for the lack of a security update? Me neither. Phishing, human error. That is all. Even banking on PC browser is more dangerous. There is also too many examples of updates screwing things that worked before.
Bro i see you opening socmed and other apps and you said it's fine, then you dismissed the a54 when you opened subway surfer? and pubg? Really? Just because of subway surfer? Then you gonna give up 1yr to 2yr of os update and battery life just to be able to open subway surfer faster? That's lame
The only good A serie I can remember is the a52s but unfortunately, you can't find it new nowadays unless you're lucky. The sd778 chip is still good for today. It was also the last A serie with a HEADPHONE JACK which was sad to see they leave out with new models. You can still get refurbished but when it comes to that, there are many other better in the price range. You can even get old flagships.
I had the A53 and the wife had the A52s. The A52s went in for warranty work. They changed the battery, charging port and screen. Got it back and she preferred the A53. The Only thing I find better on my A53 compared to the A52s is battery. Even the 10x zoom is better on the A52s
what about the battery life and software support? how are these phones going to perform in 3-4 years? you are straight up comparing specs but do not look at the actual user experience
So I was staying aways from the A54 because of last year's phone. It sucks and I went to that from the A52s to the A53 then quickly returned it, the Pixel 6a is just a boring phone to me. Speakers suck, and 60hrz is a deal breaker also don't like that there's not real adjustment for the screen and no EQ. I did go with a used "renewed" Samsung s21 plus not only was the battery horrible but it got a little splash beer on it and that was it for that $460 down the toilet. Seen the A54 on sale for $375 and picked it up. So far its performing like my A52s maybe even better just because it's new I think and can do anything I toss at it. There are some students NOT LAG that could definitely be worked out with a software update in the future..I wouldn't be so quiet to right this phone of. The screen is good speakers are amazing same haptics as the s21 plus I had, looks modern and the camera is not bad at all, and I got 7 hours of screen on time..🤷 but it's looking good so far
I have been using a S10 (exynos) for the past 3 years and I don't see any reason (yet) to get a new phone. The camera is still good & the phone is still relatively fast.
I bought a Galaxy S21 Ultra a few weeks ago and I absolutely love it. I also have an S10 Lite which again, I wouldn't trade it for a midrange phone. Yeah, I also have a Galaxy A72 and I love it, it's a good phone, but laggy... good for photos and videos, live streaming on tiktok, but there's no comparison to my S10 Lite or S21 Ultra. A friend of mine just bought himself a Galaxy A54 and I tested the cameras next to my S21 Ultra.... the difference is night and day! I don't play mobile games, so I don't care about that. the only area where a midrange can be better than a flagship is battery, even if it's a new or older one. Anyway, you are totally right, it's a much better deal to buy an older flagship, especially Samsung, than a new midranger! in fact I love my S10 Lite so much, that if I'd find a new one, I would buy it - battery, cameras, screen, signal, doesn't overheat. So yeah, go buy an older flagship, I definitely recommend that!!!!
@@frankreynolds9930 don't get me wrong, A54's camera is great. Definitely better than almost any other midranger out there! This applies also to other A5x, A3x and A7x, they are great phones! But compared to a flagship ... it's there where you see the difference, if you are a perfectionist, if you are into photography, videos, tiktok, travels and so on! So if you want a new phone, with good camera, great battery, gorgeous screen, beautiful design overall (in my opinion), then go for A54, you won't regret it!
Get an S23+ on sale and trade in your S10 Lite. A54 SoC is DoA-no improvement at all compared to S10 Lite, not to mention Sammy has already abandoned Exynos on their S series. The 45W quick charging on your old phone is also axed to 25. As for the cameras, sure the IMX766 is big, but Samsung will optimise the sensor so horribly that it can't compete against S23/+. Besides, it's already in phones like OnePlus 10R and Nothing (1), both of which have more efficient SoCs than A54. Don't buy cameras of last year (or two when you consider that Find X3 and Pro from early 2021 have this sensor already) with a chip like a Snapdragon 810.
A54 is good but I personally liked the A52s as it is more powerful compared to A54 albeit the age. I got the Pixel 6 instead. Although the phone was plagued with bugs. The recent updates made it a more perfect choice for me to replace my S9+ that is suffering from yellow screen/black screen when toggling the brightness from mid to high. Thank you for your review. May I ask if you can also share the Itachi live wallpaper that was shown? Thanks again, and I look forward to more videos you share in the future. 💯
Given the FACT! that a S21 Ultra has louder (if not better) speakers and a prettier looking screen IRL than an S22 Ultra, duo to Samsung turn down saturation so much, the S22U looks washed out, there is NO WAY a newer budget/midranger can beat an older flagship.
Had the S10 plus for years and absolutely loved it. Unfortunately the screen cracked and was told it would cost $300+ to fix. Went with the A54 and don't regret it.
This Galaxy A54 remains a real enigma for me, I can't understand how some people buy it full pot 🤔 This smartphone is worth a maximum of $250 in view of the current market, whether in North America or elsewhere🤧 Seriously, the bezels, the chin, and Above all that silver circle around the A54's selfie 🤢 Not to mention the difference in quality in photo-video (What's the point of having optical stabilization and being able to shoot in 4k, when only the FHD/30 is stabilized 🤷🏽♂️) and especially the difference in brightness and real quality of the screens of the S compared to the A. Frankly, if you necessarily want Samsung, buy a refurbished S21 Plus Snapdragon or even Exynos 2100 or a OnePlus 10 or a Pixel 7, or, if there's no rush, wait for the Pixel 7a instead of this A54
@@AmberbubblesX That's why I don't buy one. It's cheaper but it's because something wasn't quite right. Are you really saving money by buying that phone? I don't trust anything on a discount.
I get it. Thank you. agreed with you, until 1 1/2 months ago, but not now. Because my flagship had no more security updates and the hack completely destroyed it and I lost everything. Now, I will buy a flagship that will receive those updates. And the A54 and S24 get excessively long update. S24 for 7 years! and the A54 for I think 5 years. S21 runs out of security before the phone will die naturally.
If you want gaming perf,,, your reasoning is like me buying a gaming graphics card. Get better deal on a flagship from last gen... but for the normie i think it's still a good buy for under 400$. Because you will have the updates for years. And high refresh, good battery life. I dnt use my phone at all for gaming
in my country iran the price of a54 and s20fe(s hand) are almost same and the interesting thing is s21ultra (s hand) it almos cost 600 700 per$! the prices are really diffrent...
I do not care that people say about micro sd card slots. I am going to get phone with one over not with one, because I already have the card, and plus better on the budget even newer is better than older anyways. I would not want to go around people showing off a 2 or 3 year old flagship and told to buy something new. That is just criticism for no reason at all.
Yeah they are stronger Better but some with Big issues too First if you buy used battery and some other issues would come to you Software updates would were off too Personally it comes to how often would you buy new phones if evry 3-4 years you should go for New ones but if evry 1-2 years go for old Flagships
#1 you didn't say your view was based around mobile gaming #2 not once did you mention the long software support this phone will get over all the other old phones you mentioned Your view is too particular and doesn't take into account many important factors of owning a phone.
Even with the software support, the phone will slow down a considerable amount over the years. An update on my galaxy a32 5g caused the display to show 60 hz most of the time instead of 90. Cameras are also worse than an iPhone 8 which is almost an 8 year old phone.
Gaming on phones is stupidest feature ever. With consoles and PC powerhouses, why on earth anyone is seriously gaming on small screens without ergonomic controllers, neck bended downwards 😅
Plus a flagship that has a little more features, and more powerful, and missing two main features, and costs humdreds more, then it is obvious why I would take a A54 over a flagship. Oh, and no I will not just buy older, and not used either or refurbished. Been there and done that and screwed on the purchases.
I know the A54 has no headphones jack, that is why I got bluetooth headphones, plus an adapter for usb c to 3.5mm jack cable. Just in case I am out and battery dies on headphones.
I actually prefer older phones over newer ones. Ive got an S10 + and it works REALLY WELL. Plus it has features the newer ones don't have. I have an older iPhone as well, (10R)...and it's better because it still has a sim-card slot, has a great camera and works really well. The older phones also have more "personality" (if you know what I mean). Love your vids BTW. I don't comment on all of them, but I watch all of them!!!❤❤
In europe (Czech Republic) u can buy s22 ultra or iphone 13 pro/pro max for price of a54 and it's legit unblocked mby it would need replace baterry after year but still
I love the galaxy notes the best phones I've ever had. Although my note broke 2 years ago and I have been using an S9 until today I just got an S20 my S9 would run out of battery in 2 hours and would take like an hour to full charge and it was slowww I hope the S20 does me good
Hi Matthew. Great video but what about security patches and updates. How long can you keep an old flagship for? I have mixed feelings. I'm not sure if s21 or a54. If a21, it looks like I can keep an other 4 or 5 years max.
I completely agree with this because I literally bought an S10e over that a54, my S10e holds up super well, the only thing the a54 beats it in is really battery life
Yeah A54 is not worth to buying. Buy old flagship with telephoto lens instead if you want to become photographer. Now i'm staying with my A73 with Snapdragon 778G but no tele lens, so i use it with 36x Apexel zoom 😂
• fingerprint sensor slow and doesn't detect my fingerprint • Slow scrolling on Telegram messages • gets very hot on long usage • doesn't detect being in pocket well causing accidental touches
I took the realme 9 pro plus 256gb for 314 Euro with a headphone jack which better than the one sony used no more cable noises while Phone calls and yes it's the same headset 😮 have now 2 years to decide If I take the pixel 8 or If someone other brings a phone in size like the 6a most are just too big for small hands.
Poco f 5 is a good choice actually, samsung has slightly better camera, but poco has flagship level screen with almost no "chin", and 1 million antututu...and battery to be honest not bad. As alternative to a54, a52s is not bad and must be quite cheap, s20 fe is solid option in case you would find discount s21 fe is intresting option as well.
the only reason i use my phone is for snap, insta, tiktok and coc. i was leaning towards getting an a54, mainly due to the promise of extended support (which my current phone the galaxy a8 never got), the 120hz display and the size of the phone. would you still recommend me get something like the s21 ultra or an older flagship?
Im not big on the newest and fastest, but i do go for best bang for buck and speed. S21+ was the best purchase ever. For $200, man, i would buy this phone over and over.
The problem is that all of those phones are known already for having a shit battery, which is only getting worse because they are refurbs. Maybe its nice for the US where you can get original replacememt batteries, but for the rest of the world... What use is a better camera and bigger screen if you can't use and you'll live with minimum brightness to make it to the end of the day. Not worth it.
Also, if you want everything on it even including micro sd card and flagship, if I was loaded, then Sony Experia phones would be the phones to get. Maybe not best brand but they got it all on their phones. Only brand to keep headphones jack and micro sd card slot still. I just can't afford one.
I tried the Samsung A54 for 2 weeks as a back up phone and was not impressed. Physically it felt cheap, and the performance below average. In my opinion there are just way to many used flagship phones at the same price as mediocre low budget phones. I returned to the apple ecosystem due to it's current longevity of updates. I currently have a xsmax bought refurbished and as of 2023 will last me at least another 4 or 5 years. Most of my colleagues still have the iphone 6, 7, and 8. My advice stick with a nice refurbished flagship phone whether it be android or iOS.
You need to include Hotspot in your comparisons... i am on extended hotspot usage and my s22 ultra is trash compared to my nord 200 in both those regards. Turn on time and reboot from empty battery back to Hotspot and reconnection is also better on a 150$ phone compared to a $1299 full priced flagship.
The Ultra has a heavier software. 15 seconds bootup is the very least on a priority list. If your phone has no major issue reconnection issue, it's really not something that takes any significant time enough to pick a midrange phone over it. Mind you, I use an S22.
I don't agree with him at all. I've tested more phones and built more mobile processors as a integrated circuits designer then inside his entire UA-cam career...also dealt with them as a photonics engineer etc..well technically He needs to understand all he doing is comparing to actual flagships. I have every galaxy dating back to the s7 edge every pixel all the way back to the Nexus phones, foreign phones xiaomi, oneplus, motos, Huawei phones you name it I have over 42k+ worth of phones just in a room on an phone entertainment set Some are the same devices just different colors My point is he is wrong very much so yes in comparison to other high-end professors Samsung /helped Google chip exynos chip is slower but NOT TRASH No where close to trash My advice is to get the phone not a older flagship You need to understand the more miles you put on a car the older and worn it gets Same with a phone you get a older flagship that battery will be trash the software will fuck the hardware and the updates will possibly slow it down depending on how far you go back Hey buddy study your information before doing videos one thing i dont like is a preacher who preach without the experience 1 thing he didn't mention is pixel insanity of slow charging and fast dying battery but yet the a54 blows that battery out the window and every other phone in that price range Including the fe and others I mean yall trusting a dude who dont even do research enough to know how to pronounce the Samsung processor in the first place My advice get it because I got it on release day to test it coming from 1 of my S23 ultras and fold 4 I use for work just to test this chipset and its good Pretty damn good. Honestly i had low expectations because the a53 but my god they did it for the price
For the past few phones I have bought it wasn't because the old phone was slow, but because software support ended. The a54 will get 4 years of software support whereas the older phones you recommended are on their last year or two
Now that's a solid reason to buy it I can't deny.
6a is just a year old so it still has 3+4 left in it. And since the a series tend to slow down youll probably end up switching after a year or two
I don't mind getting only security patches and still being very powerful
You know the One ui in the A series is actually the stripped down version right?
Pixel 6a will get software support until 2025, and security updates until 2027, that's enough for me, I will probably change a phone by 2026 anyway
Software support means more to me than ability to game. I don't play video games. But with the A54, I'm good on support till 2027. Plus, SD expansion for pics and video.
A mid range processor won’t hold up till 2027. Unless you want your phone to be really jittery/laggy before you upgrade

Of course it's not as good as flagships performance wise, but the other phones that you mentioned aside from the s20 FE don't have it. My problem with the S20 FE is that the battery life was simply average and if you're getting a used or a refurb it's probably even worse than it was new.
Yea I love mine still but the battery life kinda sucks.

A series was really cool in the begining, in 2016-2017. It was almost like flagships. My first

There are such a great phones like S10e or S10 Lite with real flagship experience and design which cost less than recent year midrangers.

Probably a big reason is that a new midrange phone will be less troublesome in terms of battery life, software support and general use. So unless youre the odd gamer or enthusiasist who also doesnt just buy new top end phones by default you probably wont care about the performance differences.
A54 only play fortnite and pubg 30fps. S22 is same price now and plays 90fps
The midrange phones have bad processors. After 3 years they’ll be lagging a lot even in general use.
😂😂😂😂 nonsense. You are full of it.
Great comparison, I’d even throw in the S21 FE that would run circles around the A54 and It can be found for under $300.
Even the S20 FE Exynos version can deal with the A54 and put it on a ditch.

One BIG reason you can buy A54 over S20 FE, A54 will get android updates for next 4 updates till Android 17 also security patches. S20 FE will not be updated after this Android & you will be stuck with same Android version for as long as Phone lasts or you want to phone to have.
I don't care about software updates
And maybe not a monster-sized phone either...

which is pretty important
I have the Samsung A 14 5G as a second mobile for an international trip. And I love it! My idea is to jump later to a flagship one, certainly to the next S24 ultra. It is just a matter of time. But the mobile is awesome, when you don´t compare it to any other. Surely, there is always a better one for everything. But, when you have something you get used to it and you don´t compare it to anything. I am in peace and satisfied with my decision of getting the A14 5G for now. It is a worth deal, specially for the price range and the awesome and unexpected great features for a budget mobile.

One of the biggest reasons i don't get old flagships is because it doesn't get much updates

So yeah, go buy an older flagship, I definitely recommend that!!!!
a54 should be worse at everything except taking photos. It's camera sensor is bigger than s21 ultra, s10 lite, a72.
@@frankreynolds9930 don't get me wrong, A54's camera is great. Definitely better than almost any other midranger out there! This applies also to other A5x, A3x and A7x, they are great phones!

#1 you didn't say your view was based around mobile gaming
#2 not once did you mention the long software support this phone will get over all the other old phones you mentioned
Your view is too particular and doesn't take into account many important factors of owning a phone.
I used A54 5G for 2 days and regret it. I bought it CA$120 off at CA$469.99.
I don't comment on all of them, but I watch all of them!!!❤❤
Yeah and the support is shorter. Your buying a outdated, unsupported phone within a year or two. Pixel is a boring Guinea pig for Android.
But ... buying older phones ... isn't that a problem when it comes to battery life? Batteries only have limited life span, right?
In europe (Czech Republic) u can buy s22 ultra or iphone 13 pro/pro max for price of a54 and it's legit unblocked mby it would need replace baterry after year but still
No SD card is a deal breaker for me
Same for me and will not have anyone persuade me to get a flagship with not with one.
I love the galaxy notes the best phones I've ever had. Although my note broke 2 years ago and I have been using an S9 until today I just got an S20 my S9 would run out of battery in 2 hours and would take like an hour to full charge and it was slowww I hope the S20 does me good
Agreed even the S20 fe beats it hands down, even the xiaomi 12T beats it hands down and it's the same price in my country (Singapore)
If u are not into gaming..this is a54 is good for daily using...but make sure u got the 8gb ram version..
Hi Matthew. Great video but what about security patches and updates. How long can you keep an old flagship for? I have mixed feelings. I'm not sure if s21 or a54. If a21, it looks like I can keep an other 4 or 5 years max.
i have a s10e how long has it been since a security update and the only reason im replacing is cuzz the wear and tare i work construction
Serious I have Samsung a54 5G great phone that why
But the problem of S21 Ultra and S22 Ultra is they are using Snpdrgn 888 and 8 gen 1. Chipset with heating issue😢
• fingerprint sensor slow and doesn't detect my fingerprint
• Slow scrolling on Telegram messages
• gets very hot on long usage
• doesn't detect being in pocket well causing accidental touches
I took the realme 9 pro plus 256gb for 314 Euro with a headphone jack which better than the one sony used no more cable noises while Phone calls and yes it's the same headset 😮 have now 2 years to decide If I take the pixel 8 or If someone other brings a phone in size like the 6a most are just too big for small hands.
is it worth fixing a A33 screen? or is it better to buy an a54 or s20fe? s21fe and pixel 6a are considerable more expensivein my city :/
Pls should i buy s20 ultra or a54???
Poco f 5 is a good choice actually, samsung has slightly better camera, but poco has flagship level screen with almost no "chin", and 1 million antututu...and battery to be honest not bad. As alternative to a54, a52s is not bad and must be quite cheap, s20 fe is solid option in case you would find discount s21 fe is intresting option as well.
In europe market a54 is 321€ and the 21 fe is 450 and the ultra is 585....so I just bought a 54 ...
How's your phone. Did you prefer me?
the only reason i use my phone is for snap, insta, tiktok and coc. i was leaning towards getting an a54, mainly due to the promise of extended support (which my current phone the galaxy a8 never got), the 120hz display and the size of the phone. would you still recommend me get something like the s21 ultra or an older flagship?
It is 310 dollars in my country, is it worth to buy?
Is an iPhone 11 pro still good for like 3 years?
Video is right on time! I'm looking to buy a budget phone and was looking at the A54. Think I'm going to wait and see the price of the Pixel 7a
Im not big on the newest and fastest, but i do go for best bang for buck and speed. S21+ was the best purchase ever. For $200, man, i would buy this phone over and over.
It's unfortunate the s20 fe 5g isn't going to get android os updates anymore. That's the only reason to move off it at this point.
Also, you are taking about games but regular people been honest dont play any game.
Mind you, I use an S22.
wich phone do you think i should get a54 or a34 for every day use and gaming
I don't agree with him at all. I've tested more phones and built more mobile processors as a integrated circuits designer then inside his entire UA-cam career...also dealt with them as a photonics engineer etc..well technically
He needs to understand all he doing is comparing to actual flagships.
I have every galaxy dating back to the s7 edge every pixel all the way back to the Nexus phones, foreign phones xiaomi, oneplus, motos, Huawei phones you name it I have over 42k+ worth of phones just in a room on an phone entertainment set
Some are the same devices just different colors
My point is he is wrong very much so yes in comparison to other high-end professors Samsung /helped Google chip exynos chip is slower but NOT TRASH
No where close to trash
My advice is to get the phone not a older flagship
You need to understand the more miles you put on a car the older and worn it gets
Same with a phone you get a older flagship that battery will be trash the software will fuck the hardware and the updates will possibly slow it down depending on how far you go back
Hey buddy study your information before doing videos one thing i dont like is a preacher who preach without the experience
1 thing he didn't mention is pixel insanity of slow charging and fast dying battery but yet the a54 blows that battery out the window and every other phone in that price range
Including the fe and others
I mean yall trusting a dude who dont even do research enough to know how to pronounce the Samsung processor in the first place
My advice get it because I got it on release day to test it coming from 1 of my S23 ultras and fold 4 I use for work just to test this chipset and its good
Pretty damn good.
Honestly i had low expectations because the a53 but my god they did it for the price
Sir this is Wendy's, not scholarship in yapping
Would definitely buy an s21 ultra over a crappy samsung mid-range with exynos
Yo Matthew would you still recommend the S21 5g in 2023? I upgraded from my old s7
