I loved this!! I would love to find some of these titles myself, but I can imagine how rare they are. Some of my favorites on my shelf are, "Mrs. Beeton's Book of Household Management", "Thrift" by Samuel Smiles, and the "American Frugal Housewife" by Lydia Marie Childs. I agree with you on how those old magazines really had wonderful lengthy articles. There are some interesting books that examine domestic history and advertising, and you are completely correct that fear was a primary sales tactic. You might like "Just a Housewife: the Rise and Fall of Domesticity" by Glenna Matthews and "Biting the Dust" by Margaret Horsfield.
Some of the old titles are on Gutenberg or Google Books for free viewing because they are outside of copyright law. Mostly I found a lot of good things at christianbook.com and amazon.
Here are the videos that explains why punishment does more harm than good to kids, especially when they are under the age of 6 and what you should do instead. ua-cam.com/video/7IFg1RJZcKw/v-deo.html ua-cam.com/play/PLKGJWskRA9jF6of1lnubVDNjCESSG7nQp.html
Punishing children DOESN'T TEACH THEM ANYTHING!!!! by being an authoritarian parent and giving children punishment the only thing you're teaching them is that might makes right and pain=love Its been proven by the most professional child therapists if you don't believe me
