It's old and I didn't get to cover the 3DS remake in detail, but I'm glad that it still resonates with people so. And thank you for the very generous Super Thanks, I really appreciate it.
I was planning on opening it this month, but at this rate it'll probably be in May instead. The gist of the situation is that I got some good feedback on my previous channel update video, so I'll be changing the Patreon structure to instead be two tiers. One is a 1€ tier with some simple goodies (video scripts and two music tracks I've used in videos), and a 4€ tier where Patrons get an extra video every month. This extra video will be a sort of Vlog or behind-the-scenes look at stuff, kind of like the channel update videos but more focused on specific subjects regarding life, UA-cam and the process of making videos. However, a lot of real life stuff happened in March and the videos I've been planning got delayed, including one I was supposed to release on April Fools but that I'm currently trying to get out as soon as possible. This is because I also got some really nice opportunities that suddenly came up this month, involving 2 games I was granted review copies for, and an interesting ROM Hack that's highly topical to my channel. April is going to be busy.
I remember as a small child being brought by my parents with them to some big adult get together. I was bored because there was nothing to do for an 8 year old, but I found another kid my age playing with his Gameboy. And he was playing this. He let me watch and I did for what felt like a long time. It was great. And that's how I learned about Dragon Warrior Monsters. A few years later, I found the sequel at a Walmart and begged my mom for it. And she did. I wouldn't play the original game until my mid-teens, through an emulator, but I still enjoyed it even though my main love was for the sequel. Those two games were big parts of my early life. I hope that you cover it sometime.
This happened to me but with golden sun and the lost age. I'd sit inside stores blast motoi sakurabas awesome music from the gba speakers and kids would come stare and watch. It was great.
Spent enless hundreds of hours grinding this game, still do ocasionally from time to time on emulator and my physical gb sp. Glad it's getting the love it oh so deserves!
While this game is cool and all, I wish we got the 3DS remake of this and its sequel because after looking at them they look awesome plus with quality of life changes, it makes these versions obsolete in comparison because the Joker engine was used which works perfectly for these modern installments. I liked this game but it will kick you in the nuts if you don't constantly breed which I learned the hard way.
There's a fan translation, which is a bit of a pain on the ass too get working at first, but Im playing it on my 3ds now and absolutely love it- fairly true to the original with a lot of improvements
good indepth look, I really wanted terry's wonderland, The fact Na never got a port is beyond me. Its like a monster game on the 3ds of a monster game from the gbc. With a franchise like dragon quest which is really popular. It was a bonehead move in my opinion. Also DQM 1 is harder than DQM 2 as well in my opinion. DQM2 feels like a enjoyable game, while DQM1 feel very grind heavy. Good video.
Thank you. You're not wrong, it does get more grindy as you get further into the game, although personally I find the mechanics fun enough for it to not feel like a chore.
@@MerryBytes Same here. I played it after 20 years of absence and I finally managed to breed one hell of a darkdrium. It was a hard grind but never got boring. Pumping up the Numbers was fun.
Ah yes, the common communist is one of the weakest monsters in the game, but they often appear in larger numbers... so they can redistribute your belongings... among themselves.
On the point of the maps in Terry's Wonderland 3D, I actually really like it, since it's easier to navigate and find what you're looking for. I learned about and tried the game I believe the year of this video and only now came back and figured out the super-secret 1.1 patch that makes cheats work (for real-time, event-only monsters), and noticed that items and monsters only appear in specific "rooms." Just a couple of days ago I was thinking about how easy it would be to actually make a guide for the game (at this time, there are still no useful English resources). For example, the first monster I encountered on B2 on Departure Gate was a Woebregine. I didn't try to Scout it yet; this was a mistake. I then spent about three months occasionally coming back trying to find a Woebregine. It turns out, it's a rare spawn that only appears in specific locations on specific room types on B2 of Departure Gate. The game will always list rare spawns as appearing in "??????????" and the English PDF online only lists _most_ of the monsters that appear _in the first few_ Gates.
I had no idea about that. Sadly, it's hard to find really detailed English resources for Japan exclusives, even if the game in question has an unofficial translation.
The first one of these games I played was tars journey, honestly it was an amazing ride, 8 bit graphics could somehow convey Soo much when accompanied bye cool environments and a great story. The monster breeding and wandering from place to place to fight and recruit more monsters. I seriously believe this game would've gotten bigger if Americans gave it a chance. I was Soo pissed when I discovered afew 3ds games, only to then find out there aren't any American translations. I tried to hunt down the patches but. Every site just redirects me, and the one I could find wouldn't work.
I used to play the shit out of this game back in the days. Square Enix why you no release the remakes outside Japan!?? Btw spoiler alert: The king is the medal collector guy.
Could you make videos on Dragon Quest monster joker 2??? Fans have made a server that let's DS's connect online again, and Joker 2 is one of the games supported. If you can. Maybe you and I could battle online in joker 2.
bro wdh, they pushed back the new joker installment so why cant we have this game on android. Been looking in square enix and i cant find it anywhere. Japan only? We've been waiting for this fucking game and the last joker for ps didn't even get translated.
My favorite game, I find myself rewatching this video every once and a while for nostalgias sake.

A new DQ Monsters game was just announced!🎉🎉🎉
@@AceCluck I saw! I am so excited!
I wish the new games kepted the mystery dungeon style of this game.
Still a great game TO THIS DAY! Changed my life.
Much better than pokemon to me as a kid.
As a DQM professional the 3DS remake is so worth it. Can't wait for The Dark Prince to release

4:41 "You will finds all kinds of monsters such as dragons, golems, and communists." ROFL You legend!
Thank you for bringing back good memories. This was one of my favorites back in the day.
Dragon quest monsters was one of my favourites as a kid.
Thank you very much for this detailed retropective review!
ITS THE GRAND DADDY OF MONSTER JOKER!!!
In Japan monster joker is DQM 4 joker.
loved playing this game growing up
Endgame party in terry’s wonderland 3D was a dark slime knight, a cureslime, a Tigergram, and a firebird.
Yo, this video was awesome! Sold me with your sense of humor immediately.
Not sure how I ended up at this video but man did I love it
Good review with some funny writing. Playing this on am emulator on my phone.

Great video as always :) keep it up
ah good o childhood game. The funny thing about slimes is that they can actually learn megamagic
But they'll always have shit stats.

You have to breed wither way. Doesnt matter if it’s 3DS or GBC my dear friend
the 3ds remakes sucked imo
A remake is coming to switch :D

All I can say is that save states make monster catching much more manageable
Interesting video. Thanks for the info!

as a child I did especially with that end game "Plot" twist. I cried at that one fight. It was so hard for me at the time.

LOL! HAHA! This review is as hilarious as ever.
I loved this game as a kid
"Dragons, Golems, and Communists" LMAO
Ah yes, the common communist is one of the weakest monsters in the game, but they often appear in larger numbers... so they can redistribute your belongings... among themselves.
I played the fuck out of this as a kid.
I'm still playing this on my old Gameboy lmao
nice video
Such a great game.
Legitimately loved this video.

Great review I love this series
Swordsman kills the boss alone and you don't get to fight him..
Well dragon quest monsters 1 and 2 even got 3ds remakes in 2012 and 2014
Where can I find a rom of the 3DS game for citra? I searched for weeks and couldn't find one

The game got a fan translation some years ago.

Oh my!
pokemon medieval
Man, you're so hilarious!
The humor is too much

nice
I'm still hoping they can remake it on switch...
Came 1 year after pokemon, but better that Gen 3.
Actually bigger monsters have more skill slots.
Dragons, Golems and Communists too funny!

Ironically make a wish was very charitable to Terry. Because his adult version that went looking never found her.
