  • The AGM battery on my Ranger has depleted over lockdown because of various items left plugged in, namely my dash cam. This CTEK maintenance charger makes it super simple to keep the battery at the best state of charge.

Good Evening The MXS 5.0 does do AGM batteries 👍🏻

CTEK is the only charger to buy.
I bought one about 8 years ago, and it’s been brilliant.
It even works with the stop/start cars we now have.

Just had a message to say that the MXS will do AGM batteries too!
The main difference we can see is the "time to go" feature which advises roughly how long the charger has left to run.

Hi within your resurch did you consider the ctek 5.0 ? Reason I ask is I was going to purchase the 5.0 but seeing as you bought the CT5 just wondered what the differences were ( if you know ). Another good video. Maybe you could do with a mic attached to you for better audio at times. Just a thought. 👍

Considering a lapel mic, I currently just use a Rode shotgun videomic attached to the tripod but that's not ideal when moving around.
The MXS5.0 vs CT5 is just the time to go function, which is just a series of lights with number of hours listed. I was informed that the MXS will do AGM batteries and also has a specific AGM mode just like the CT5. Both are 5 Amp out, and both fit all the accessories.

Nice one Dave! On my to do list for awhile now - did you look at the Noco product line? Ctek are a great brand but having experience with Noco as well, it's worth comparing - you can also have longer extension leads for comfort connection

I didn't see those mate no. I'm more than happy with my CTEK smart charger for the leisure battery so looked no further!

Really enjoyed the video David and didn't realise they made a bumper case so we purchased one. As for the wall mount option it's a neat idea but don't like the idea of drilling a hole in the wall so need to give that a think.
We have the MXS 5.0 and it's been running every day for last 5 years. Never missed a beat and wouldn't hesitate to buy another.

5 years! That's a testament and a half! Very good to hear.
I installed mine on the wall mount because it keeps it there and ready to go at a moments notice. But let's be honest it isnt really that difficult to plug it in and have it around the car in that rubber case. I'd stick to that option if you dont want to drill holes 👍👍

Great review mate. What if the battery is located in the boot under the spare, does the ctek charger have to be connected to the actual battery posts or can it be connected to the jumper posts under the bonnet?

    • @DetailingandtheBeast
      @DetailingandtheBeast  3 роки тому +1

Yeah jumper posts are fine! Theres even a cigarette plug adapter that you can use for those cars with difficult to access batteries 👍

Hi #Detailingandthebeast and congrats for the review and the job you do!!!
I need some help! I want to buy a ct5 charger. I am between Ct5 Time to go and Ct5 start-stop. My car (Ford Focus 2020 ST-Line mk4) has Start-Stop. I read that the time to go charger has also the ability to inform you when the car will be ready to go. But is this charger ideal for cars like mine (start-stop) as the CT5 Start stop is??? The price is the same...so i want to buy the best option! So if you can, answer to me the next 3 questions:
1rst) Do i have to buy the "Ct5 start-stop" or the "Ct5Time to go" is better? What you suggest to me?
2nd) Is the "ctek comfort indicator eyelet m8" suitable for the ct5 start-stop charger?
3rd) Is it safe to let permanetely the comfort indicator cable in the battery connected?
    Thanks and greetings from Greece!

      Thank you!
So the easy answer is that they're the same except for some LEDs on the front telling you roughly when the car will be ready.
      1. Either is as good
      2. Yes all good
      3. Absolutely fine!
      👍

@@DetailingandtheBeast Thank u so much! So, the start stop Ct5 is the same with ct5 Time to go. You mean that "time to go" is better!?

@@DetailingandtheBeast is the CT5 time to go latest version than Ct5 Start Stop?
Because if they are the same, then it's not a good choice to buy the CT5 start-stop . Am i right???

Would be fantastic if you provided some type of facts backing up these claims. Did you try programming a BMW or something?
