  • Dodolica boga moli,
Oj dodole, mili bozhe, daj bozhe daj, sitna rosa.
Da zarosi sitna rosa, da potopi celo polje,
Oj dodole, mili bozhe, daj bozhe daj, sitna rosa.
    Celo polje i nasheto,
Oj dodole, mili bozhe, daj bozhe daj, sitna rosa.
Da se rodi berikjeti, berikjeti po poljeto,
Oj dodole, mili bozhe, daj bozhe daj, sitna rosa.
Od dva klasa shinik zhito, od dva grozda vedro vino,
Oj dodole, mili bozhe, daj bozhe daj, sitna rosa.
Dodolica boga moli, boga moli preko polje,
Oj dodole, mili bozhe, daj bozhe daj, sitna rosa.
    Dodolica bliznakulja, bliznakulja sirotica,
Oj dodole, mili bozhe, daj bozhe daj, sitna rosa.

The ritual of Paparuda is traditional in Romania also.
In fact is an South Eastern rain ritual coming from ancient times, common to Bulgarians, Serbians, Romanians, Macedonians, Croatians, Slovenians.

Romanians used to speak a proto-Slavic language. Their neighbors still called them Vlachs (Vlasi), they used to worship Veles, the son of Svarog.

    Translation from Macedonian to English:
    Dodolica is praying to God:
Hey Dodola, dear God, give us God give us - fine dewdrops,
Fine dewdrops to rain, to flood the whole field.
Hey Dodola, dear God, give us God give us - fine dewdrops,
to the whole field, ours as well.
Hey Dodola, dear God, give us God give us - fine dewdrops,
abundance to be born, abundance in the field.
Hey Dodola, dear God, give us God give us - fine dewdrops,
from two wheat stalks - a bushel of wheat, from two grapes - a pail of wine.
Hey Dodola, dear God, give us God give us - fine dewdrops.
Dodolica prays to God, she begs God across the field:
Hey Dodola, dear God, give us God give us - fine dewdrops.
Dodolica - the twin, poor twin,
Hey Dodola, dear God, give us God give us - fine dewdrops.
Dodola is a pagan goddess of rain, interpreted by some as the wife of the supreme deity Perun (Slavic god of thunder). It was celebrated in Macedonia in the past and it is part of the rich cultural history of not only Macedonia but the whole Balkan. The ritual for the goddess consisted of a dance and songs sung by young girls. In Macedonia, one girl would be the Dodolica or Dodola, usually a poor girl that would have her clothes decorated with leaves, flowers and plants. All of the young girls would go around their village with wreaths of flowers on their heads sprinkling water with bouquets and singing songs for the rain while the main Dodolica/Dodola is dancing.

@ggnt Berikjeti in this case is used as plural form, meaning abundance of products by vegetable origin.
