    20 years since I bowled league looking to start fresh with a brand new bag, I love my one and only modernish Brunswick ball, this ball looks like a perfect spear and light oil ball. That just made the top of my want list for bag 2021.

    I'm a beginner who's only been bowling for a few months, and this is a great ball for me to use. It's ideal while you're learning proper hand position and throwing motion. Couldn't be happier with it.

    I've had my Rhino for a little over 7 months and am really liking it. I've upped my average from 150 to about 170, and just today, bowled a 247 with it. Definitely a very good entry level ball for those looking to learn how to hook the ball properly. Only downside is when the lane is heavily oiled, since it works better on dryer lanes, but that only happened a couple times.

    I bought this ball a week ago. Went from a conventional grip Ebonite Maxim last bowling season, to the Brunswick Rhino fingertip grip. I bowl a little straighter, but up the right hand side and bending into the pocket or Brooklyn. Last season with the Ebonite, I finished with an average of 135. Highest game was 165. Just this week, I bowled a 204 in practice, and league tonight I bowled my best series ever: 169, 219 (new personal best, only open frame was my final ball), 145 for a 533 series and 177 avg game. This has been a great ball for a newer bowler like myself to take the next step from plastic to reactive, and I highly recommend it for someone trying to improve their game and take it to the next step.

    Just ordered & got measured for my Brunswick Rhino yesterday, looking forward to checking it out. I'm always been a straight bowler with about a 150 average, but have always wanted to learn how throw a hook correctly, and believe this ball with help with that, at least on an "entry" level. The finger tip grips & inserts will take some getting used to, I'm sure, but here's hoping I don't get too frustrated in learning how to throw a proper hook.

      Hey brother, how did it work out for you? I'm in the same situation as you were in last year. Just started bowling and I'm now looking to move up from the house balls and just learning how to hook. Would you recommend the Brunswick Rhino?

    • @dummydingus8291
      @dummydingus8291 4 роки тому +1

      @@KingRockets I would. I'm a second year high school bowler with a 180 average. The Rhino is a great ball to learn how to properly hook a ball with. It doesn't do anything fancy but it will tell you when you screw up. It has a very readable and predictable motion. It's a great ball to start with because it works on most house shots but as you improve and get more serious, you can still keep it in your bag for when the lanes get dry. As I get more serious and improve, the rhino still has a place in my bag for the end of tournaments. Good luck!

    Problem! The center 1 mi. from my house has old, REAL wood lanes. Oiled only one time weekly (before league Tuesday and not again until the next Tuesday!). I work late so don't get in league but bowl on weekend afternoons. After Fri-Sat. nights 5 Hrs. packed house glow bowling each night the lanes are scorched beyond! Heads are gone. Backends are anyone's guess from carry down. Ball will snap left by the arrows and direct to the 7 pin. Would you think the Rhino could be something I should consider? I am ok on the synth lanes in the next town but need a ball to use on the dry REAL wood closer to home. For what it's worth I am more in style like Wayne Porter. 64 male, 13-14-15 mph. Not sure of revs. Actually taught by dad in '68 with his rubber ball. Sort of missed the Urethane-Reactive. A Rip Van WInkle of bowling. Trying to catch up. Thanks. Enjoy your videos.

      exactly same w/me, I went to lighter ball> just getting back into the game after 26 years a cpl years ago , they were astonished to see me using old Ebonite Earl Anthony Magnum 9, a 16lb urethane ball, i used to avg 191, was mostly a spare bowler, bought a Rotogrip Critical 15lb , used it for a year and ball takes much maint to keep it having hook and pin action! I just went down to 14lb DV8 Pitfall Bark, drilled very aggressive the ball is amazing if it hits anywhere 1,2,3 pins its like a broom and sweeps the floor! trouble now reaching even the 6 pinto pick simple 6-10 spare because she hooks so hard! So I pull out Earl and hammer them but big difference in release once you get used to a 14 and then try to place the 16 where I need to! Anyway,,, wearing my glasses changed my game too .... LOL I would say drop then weight of your ball, w/this newer technology 13 mph is plenty to roll over the pins, have someone figure out your Rev Rate and other criteria they mention on video, I wished I would of had the older Hammer back in the day, the pins run from them! This ball hooks late and very hard on med dry wood lanes. It's useless in my home house for me. Its does work on some well oiled synthetic lanes however. I can throw it like my BTU'S (in my home house) and get the same reaction. This ball is NOTHING like a teal rhino. I had one and hated it. It reacted WAY early if you have revs without enough ball speed. I left it at a bowling alley in grand rapids to be adopted 20 years ago.

    @biga1257 8 років тому +1

    What's the difference between the rhino and the fanatic btu?

    • @LaneSideReviews
      @LaneSideReviews  8 років тому +3

      There are huge differences. The BTU has a HIGH RG core with a medium-high differential. The Rhino has a light bulb core that is slightly less high-rg (more medium), and the same differential. This means the hook potential for these two balls are in different places (the BTU is farther down lane).
      The potential is only that without cover. This is the second big difference. The cover on the BTU is MUCH slower response to friction, so it will retain energy longer and not over-read the dry parts of the lane. While the rhino is amazing for dry lanes as well, it reads friction faster, so when they become very spotty or wet / dry it can have some consistency issues.

    • @juwuu
      @juwuu 7 років тому +2

    I don't throw a hook and prefer normal drilling (vs. fingertip). I have an old Eclipse ball and am looking for a new ball. I'm just a casual bowler and the Zones I bowl at are considered medium-heavy oil. I know almost any ball I buy now-a-days will be better than my Eclipse, but do you recommend the Rhino? Or are there any others to consider?

      +silly0981 LOL. I guess you've never varied your release, rev rate, launch angle or hand position. Its a skill set that every bowler should have to create shape on the lanes.

    REALLY overselling this ball. I mean they do it every time, but not every ball has ALLL THE POWAAAAA, like they always seem to say it does.

    • @LaneSideReviews
      @LaneSideReviews  8 років тому +1

      anything that retains energy (ie medium to high rg or slow response covers) WILL have all the POWAAA down lane, especially at the pins. it is what it is designed to do. when you don't need energy down lane then go with a low rg ball or use tons of surface. that will create a less flippy pin action, and tends to keep pins low, creating a different kind of carry.
      good call on it though! it's good to know where people want the ball to react or have energy! thanks for watching!
