great video. I have this filter .i replaced it with a EHEIM 600 (2217) classic. The EHEIM turned out to much louder ,and held far less media than the SUNSUN . More than twice the price than the SUNSUN with no ceramic media either. Have to say it.....the EHEIM is back in the box ,its now the back up filter to the SUNSUN ,DONT FIGURE ,lol. no issues at all with SUNSUN. No leaks , I just lubricate and look after the o rings ,no need to use the UV. Moral of the story ,all that glitters is not gold .if looked after, SUNSUN 704B is a great filter, and can be as good as ,if not better, than so called top brands. I Could have bought 2 , 704b filters for the price of the EHIEM. So i would say go for it ,its a great filter. Enjoying all your videos. CHEERS from IRELAND.👍
I to also have a FX6 and a 704b running on my S.American Cichlid 125 gal tank and have to say how pleased I am with how they keep the tank clear even though I have 2 -10"Oscars, 2 -8"Green Terrors, 2 -6"Electric Blue Acaras and a Platinum Polar Cichlid and 1 Pictus Cat, I to use the 704b as a biological filter with pretty much the same set up but with 2 baskets of lava rock instead of Marine pure Biomax, I've seen a ton of reviews saying the FX6 is more than enough to filter the tank but this is one instance were you can't have too much filtration when you have messy fish like Oscars. For the price and amount of media it holds and the flow ya can't go wrong with picking up a 704b.
Thanks for the video, we have one of these have been using it for a few months already. But it's always been a hassle to prime. Just went to prime it again and it will not work. Racking my brain as to why it won't work 🤔
it was extermely frustrating trying to get mine going when i first got it because i couldnt find out how to get the lid to close with the uv bulb attached. I think I may have spent over an hour trying to figure it out.
Quick question. I brought a sunsun AQ-HW303 and the up light is broken as water got into it. Just wondering is it safe to use the filter without it all will it kill my fish. P.s it’s rusty where the light goes. Any help will be great. Just hopefully I didn’t waste my money
I had a 704B and ran it for 14 months. Major issue I had was water leaking into the UV build area. It’s a poor design. I tried to seal it by rubbing silicone grease on it but it still leaked eventually. It got to the point the electrical connection started to degrade to the point the bulb would not work. I was worried the fish might get shocked so I replaced it with a marineland c-360. The filter itself works good. If they would offer this filter without the UV light I would buy it again. The light is to small to do any good anyway on my 75 g tank.
@@RoflJoker1994 you can but the plug in is still there and you have to install the glass cover where the bulb goes. Water will leak into it regardless of if you use the bulb or not.
I'm trying to deal with the insanity of 10x filtration for my 40g breeder w/ranchu. Is this filter complete overkill for that tank. Supposed to have at least 400g i suppose.
Usually depends on a variety of factors, but keeping nitrates low is the main reason for water changes. I’d recommend doing enough to keep them below 40ppm
@@yasirh2004 You get a test kit. They sell it at aquariums. But make sure the nitrate level is not too low either.. if it’s too low another type of chemical called hydrogen sulfide (I think) will build up and that’s worse than nitrates
Great video. This is a top value filter for what we pay for. I’ve had one running for 8 months no dramas. I hate those plastic bio balls. I filled my 3 monster trays up with matrix
Not to hijack your comment section. Stick your hoses in a tub of hot water makes installing and connecting your hose much easier. Cll_pet supplies on eb@y has almost every single part, especially all the O-rings for the Sun Sun filters. Use a light coat of 100% petroleum jelly on all the seals including the UV light glass cover making sure to turn the glass until it stop
@@CichlidBros 2 more suggestions if I might. In the bottom of the canister will be a sticker, line the intake holes of your trays with that sticker, now every time you do maintenance, your baskets and top are always configured in the canister the same way. Also make sure to wipe clean where the top and canister Orings meet.
That’s not NEARLY enough for the pleckos. I’d recommend a double Fx6 filtration system, AND a over and below sump. Make sure to add around 5 power heads to keep the water moving.

2.5 gallon? You definitely need a fx6! Lol

whats the difference betwwen this and 304b?
The only difference that I can find is that the 304b is 55 watt whereas this is only 45 watt.. so I’m guessing the 304b is stronger?
