I often thought back in the Victorian period if the youngster's carved out Tombstones aswell ? They were certainly very young working in the mines and the mills.
I so enjoyed seeing the artistic carvings on the stones....especially the faces...such detail on many of them. Thanks Dan. I hope you had a good day. 🌹
Edinburgh is a beautiful place. I haven been there and also in the rest of Scotland a beautiful country. It is inconceivable that people relieve themselves on a grave. Not respectful. A beautiful cemetery, a pity that the stones are so black. Thank you for the tour Martha
At 1:54, the spirit said "I would have threw that in his face". The guy who did it was lucky that a spirit with an ability to move objects was not there.
It’s deffo a case of being worried of the living when visiting this churchyard, such a pity how they get away with being so disrespectful . An enjoyable visit apart from nearly stepping in it..
I was in Edinburgh in November 2022 and was staying in a hotel on Queensferry Road, just a few yards away from St Cuthbert's, and visited St John's Scottish Episcopal Church which is next door to St Cuthbert's and walked around both graveyards - very interesting. I also went into St John's and wow, what an interior, and also the memorials / tablets on the walls to parishioners who had died - mostly military men from the 1800's and from some famous battles and landmarks, like Sevastopol. Also some famous names like Sir John Robison. There is also a tablet to Captain William Bunter who "died instantaneously within this house of God" in 1841 - cardiac arrest maybe?
Loads of skulls in this graveyard!, must have been a trend of the time there. But you don’t see many 1600 graves, I wonder why. Who needs meditation when you can walk with you around these wonderful graveyards. So relaxing. Love your videos👍
Sorry about the Poo smell! You got through the rest of this beautiful cemetery though. Seemed quite peaceful during the day. Thanks for making me laugh Dan!
A Fewer/Fewar is apparently the tenant of a Feu, a 'perpetual' property and/or land granted to the tenant (vassal) by a (feudal) superior (Laird? Abbot?) on condition of an annual payment. This is somewhat different to a simple tenant presumably in that as long as the payments are kept up, the property is effectively theirs. 'Baillie' = Bailliff/Magistrate
Beautiful resting place, I can’t believe people ( if we are allowed to call them that ) could vandalise and disrespect such a space. I’m sure the devil himself couldn’t do it. Thank you, Steve from 🇦🇺🤝.
I love Agatha Christie. 😻& robins! 🥰 The skulls were cool, one had moss in the eye socket. ☠ If you pour water over the faded script on the stones, it should make the letters clearer to see.
not uncommon to see in some churchyards to have the grave size on the stone, also you see stones along paths referring to the position of the burial plot "buried 28feet north east of this monument"
Baillies are civic officials in some towns and cities of Scotland. Fewer may be related to one who holds land on payment of a feu (think 'feudal') or may be a variant spelling based on old French (Le)Fevre - a smith, although combined brewer/blacksmith is probably more likely to be found out in the country rather than in a great city.
They could stop the damage by making sure the walls and gates work and buying a big security dog to just turn loose in the night hours. Be easier cleaning up after that than the junkies.
The 'homeless themselves are not the problem; it is HOMELESSNESS that is the problem. Anyone who has ever struggled to find enough money to obtain shelter--and the compassionate--will understand the difference.
The disrespectful behavior permitted there is unbelievable. That’s also why I don’t believe in ghosts. No self-respecting ghost would allow these people to ruin their mausoleums.
How disrespectful that a (person)? or someone would let their 🐕 poo in/on a gravesite! At timestamp 2:15, or 2:16, theres a VERY eerie sounding Woman's voice saying something ( cant make out whar she said), but it was definitely not background voices!👻
Scotland is on my bucket list of places to visit…. I have distant relatives from there. My paternal grandmother’s maiden name was Bacon. Researched it all the way back to some royalty in the UK and Scotland. Sir Walter “Butts” Bacon and others….
I guess we can assume it's connected with brewing, whatever it was we can also assume it was extremely profitable, the people in this graveyard weren't short of a bob or two.
Ive just noticed Dan UA-cam took me off 'all' subscribed videos ! I wondered why i hadn't saw any videos ! I thought you might be having a break or packing it in. Bloody UA-cam 🤬 catching up on all your dead good walks 😊
Interesting that you make so many videos in Scotland, when you have so little positive to say about it? Perhaps best left to others to appreciate the graveyards 🥰
I love touring these cemeteries with you. Thank you for taking your viewers from all over the world on your journeys!
What a beautiful, but creepy, graveyard! How ironic that people are using deadly drugs in a cemetery. They'll wind up in one soon.
I was born and raised in San Diego! What a pleasant surprise that dog statue was.
I'm amazed at how these large tombstones survive hundreds of years. Thanks for this great walk, so peaceful
Absolutely amazing history and age captured here, just stunning ❤️.
I often thought back in the Victorian period if the youngster's carved out Tombstones aswell ? They were certainly very young working in the mines and the mills.
Some of those headstones were the most interesting I’ve seen yet. The grounds were so well-kept. It’s a shame. The vandals ruined some of the Cripts.
thanks for this from someone who will never be able to go to Scotland in person sure would love to
I so enjoyed seeing the artistic carvings on the stones....especially the faces...such detail on many of them. Thanks Dan. I hope you had a good day. 🌹
Thank you for another great walk. Cemeteries don't look eerie in the daytime as they do at night.
1:27 Wow didn't realize Edinburgh was in San Francisco. Cool stones in that graveyard, especially the skeleton stone.
Lmao! I see what you did there and I agree 😂

Take a 💩 on someone’s grave. How disrespectful can you get.

It was nice to see people had left sticks for the doggo 😀 thanks for making such nice videos!
Loads of skulls in this graveyard!, must have been a trend of the time there. But you don’t see many 1600 graves, I wonder why. Who needs meditation when you can walk with you around these wonderful graveyards. So relaxing. Love your videos👍
7:56 Those are some rather well-endowed cherubs. What a beautiful and serene cemetery, thanks for sharing.
"I think someone has done a poo guys" 😂 I was not expecting that!
Sorry about the Poo smell! You got through the rest of this beautiful cemetery though. Seemed quite peaceful during the day.
Thanks for making me laugh Dan!
Heh heh...Don't confess to something you didn't do..!
Thank you, Dan for another great tour, and I always enjoyed them every time you show them.
New subscriber here!! From someone who thinks cemeteries are beautiful and peaceful! 🥰
I can’t believe how disrespectful people can be.
Thanks for the video, nice seeing you again bless you and be safe 💕💕
The council should be ashamed to leave these crypts in this condition. Disgraceful.
Except that it's owned and maintained by St Cuthberts church, and ultimately the Church of Scotland. Not the Council at all!
Hi Dan! Love your videos! Bailey as noun means courtyard or area surrounding a castle. Fascinating walk!😊
Sad that someone would disrespect a mausoleum that way - although glad you didn't edit out your original start to the walk.

Awesome cemetery, thanks for takin us.

I’m sure the devil himself couldn’t do it.
Thank you, Steve from 🇦🇺🤝.
I didn't realise you had a episode tonight, I had no notification. I've switched it back on again. But yet again another excellent episode Dan.
I love Agatha Christie. 😻& robins! 🥰 The skulls were cool, one had moss in the eye socket. ☠ If you pour water over the faded script on the stones, it should make the letters clearer to see.
I recently walked this Kirk yard , I have ancestors here was also the family Kirk . Great cemetery right 🐨🥰
8 feet square. I have never seen anything like that. Thank you for this walk today. Lovely old stones.
not uncommon to see in some churchyards to have the grave size on the stone, also you see stones along paths referring to the position of the burial plot "buried 28feet north east of this monument"
I’m finding your videos quite fascinating! My ancestors are Scots-Irish! Hoping you come across a McCorkle or McWhorter sometime! ❤🪦
Bedankt
Wow👍🏻
Incredible support once again thank you so much x
Was there someone near you in the first bit as I could hear voices
Wish today’s memorials were as interesting as those back in history so much more interesting, the way you said someone’s taken a 💩 in here made me 🤣.

My goodness! What a crude & unpleasant surprise .....? Nevertheless ,I just absolutely love watching your videos!
They could stop the damage by making sure the walls and gates work and buying a big security dog to just turn loose in the night hours. Be easier cleaning up after that than the junkies.
Can’t believe someone took a dump in a mausoleum 🤦♂️🤢
Momento Mori is the title of the latest Depeche Mode album.
Loved the video and Love Edinburgh. Would love to visit on day.
The 'homeless themselves are not the problem; it is HOMELESSNESS that is the problem.

1:43 Snickers bar, or something similar, by the looks of it. Corn on the cob would have told this particular tale! XD
3:33 to 3:38 Unusual
How disrespectful!!
The Campbell grave tell you where each are buried xxxx
I'm glad to see I'm not the only one who likes cemeteries.
Amazing thank you for your time
And...yet you still went in there and read the names of the deceased...you're a braver person than I?!! 😂
Such a shame they are not looked after, even for tourism 🤔
The mausoleums have a lived-in look.
😂😂😂😂😂
Holy sh*t....
How disrespectful do you have to be to drop a duece in a cemetery!?! That's ridiculous
Thank you from fla.
Love the video from Australian
Lovely meaty log. Oh and the tour was magical

"Graffiti....what a sham.."
I guess when you have to go, you have to go. But, damn, that is so disrespectful and I’d be afraid a ghost would surely haunt me.
It’s creepy how they had sculpted skulls on the gravestones. Any significance back then?
Scotland is on my bucket list of places to visit…. I have distant relatives from there. My paternal grandmother’s maiden name was Bacon. Researched it all the way back to some royalty in the UK and Scotland. Sir Walter “Butts” Bacon and others….
Shameful that the dead are disrespected like at 8:34....trash, needles, etc.
Just a thought -- Maybe all of the skulls were put there to denote that they died of the plague.
I came expecting coffins and bones and got poo and needles.
Fewer and brewered. A crafted beers.. lol!😅 nice walking with you. 😊
Hello, people were buried in this cemetery in the ground, cremated where the bodies were placed because I see there is no space im from brasil
A Baillie was a sort of officer of the local government.
Perhaps a group of people, especially drug addicts, could clean the mausoleums up.
Love Scotland, my home land ❤
(8:06) Does anyone know, what is a "fewer" (profession)?
I Googled it and the only thing I got was repetitive fewer-vs-lesser BS. 😒
I tried to look it up but can't find anything.
A fewer was a distiller of spirits.
I guess we can assume it's connected with brewing, whatever it was we can also assume it was extremely profitable, the people in this graveyard weren't short of a bob or two.
Could it be 'Distilling' an important and profitable profession in Scotland then and now?
No respect for dead
No respect for the homeless.
Ick.💩🤢Some people have no shame.
Looks just like San Francisco only its all over
I enjoy your videos, but that’s disgusting, disrespectful to a person grave.
Homelessness is a problem EVERYWHERE! so are the drugs killing these poor people.
That’s human… and fresh… what in the world
What is the hour glass a symbol of
Time
It came from Uranus.....
Couldn’t find fewer as an occupation only fewster- maker of wooden saddle trees, so nothing to do with brewing
Drug use how low can u go when there dead body buired here
Nothing like starting off your tour with a big stinker lol. But seriously- who ever did that is very disrespectful on many levels
That was gross
Ive just noticed Dan UA-cam took me off 'all' subscribed videos ! I wondered why i hadn't saw any videos ! I thought you might be having a break or packing it in. Bloody UA-cam 🤬 catching up on all your dead good walks 😊
I’ve noticed a couple of channels that I know I was subscribed to, that I’ve been unsubscribed. Strange and annoying that this happens
Another good walk
Eight foot square - means he was very tall and very boring!
Thank goodness it wasn't you censoring. Thank s
Hey at least you didn't step in it yea?
Maybe it was the ghost of that large dog that pooped in this mausoleum ? Why is a dog from SanDiego doing there?
And which ghost wiped it's ar5e for him?
OMG, someone has done a poo in here…..ahaaaaaaa. Ya gotta laugh…. Sorry just my sense of humour.
tried google with not success to the measurements
Hi Dan 💜 🚶🏻🪦
Interesting that you make so many videos in Scotland, when you have so little positive to say about it? Perhaps best left to others to appreciate the graveyards 🥰
that dookie does not look real 🤣
You will find plenty of Poosoleums used by homeless as toilets
I hope not Ian lol
Foiled (?or fouled) by a jobby! 🫣
