Hey Tony, this was good stuff. Enjoyed the breakdown. I’ve written several books for Hero Games 6th Edition, including my latest Victorian Hero. I’m currently updating Justice Inc. Thanks for the support.
I remember players trying to make Champions versions of Changeling from the New Teen Titans back in the early 1980s. Such a hassle I think everyone just gave up on the concept
10 points Overall Skill level is a key to a Batman. These cost, but a character with 20 points in this have a floating +2. Our base game is 8-12d6 and 20-30 PD/ED. Active Points + Dice thrown is indeed key. GMs having to be involved in so so key. What I don't like about modern games is rules to restrict players. The GM needs to do that.n
The 5th ed rules for Multiform are both better in points and more dangerous for getting out of hand. I used them to build an Iron Man like character with several suits of armor. Not a metamorph but use of the power. In a Fantasy Hero game, my wife played a witch who could transform into various animals. Again Multiform. The 5th Ed Multiform rules work great, but with the Multiplication effect, it can quickly get out of hand. Needs serious GM overview.n
To be fair, you're talking about modern Batman who is a genius at everything and a billionaire with omnigadgets. Building a 1980s or earlier Batman is considerably cheaper as he was more fallible and didn't have all these ridiculous areas of expertise back then. When he was just a peak normal human being...unlike now.
Slight correction to your interpretation of the title... meta does not mean multi... right? Meta (greek) means "with, across, after, beyond" Multi (latin) means "more than one" Morph (greek) means "form" but as a verb can mean "change"
Hey anthony, Champions was such a weird game. I can't pick a gun up off the ground and use it because I didn't pay points for it but I can throw a boulder or a car.
It's actually lot of fun if the GM lets you pick up the gun (or flashlight of ATM card) as a one off with no cost. Now if you keep the gun you've got to pay for it.
@pccleric that's factually false. You CAN indeed pick up that gun and use it. You just can't keep it personally as part of your character unless you spend points for it. Rule #1 of Champions is you only get what you pay for. Otherwise you need up with 1 character spending 250 points on powers and another spending 250 points and having every single skill and billions of dollars and buying anything he needs every session or even just giving the bad guys money to stop.
I enjoy all of Page121 Tabletop Roleplaying Games videos 🎉😊
Love the Champions content. Classic game seldom seen these days outside dedicated longtime fans.
6E has a Golden Age supplement for WWII to 60s superheroes. Pretty cool.
Change to diamonds you're thinking of the White Queen from the hellfire club
Yep.

Excellent. I've always loved Champions.

One of my players had a character similar to Beast Boy called Animal Master. Boy, was he expensive. A challenging build.

Hi Tony, do you have plans to review the other books in the Ultimate series?
I'd love to if there is enough interest. Champions has never proven popular but maybe that will change.
I'd like to see them. I never owned any but now they look useful after all
