    I used to work for DISH. You seem to know what your doing but I noticed something with your receiver process. A way to save time is when you get the dish up and hook up to the node or hubby, find the hopper line first. Hook it up, start downloading the hopper then come back to toning the rest of the lines, hook them up, then start unpacking all of the them. By the time your ready for Joeys, the hopper is done

    • @dishtech4533
      @dishtech4533  2 роки тому +10

      That's good advise man. I used to do this but now we have these USB sticks with the software already on them so I just plug it in the hopper to power, then it starts downloading software from the USB, no coax needed. They save a ton of time.

    • @CptArnie
      @CptArnie 2 роки тому +1

      I used to be a tech and before I left we also used the USB to download the hopper. It saves a lot of time when it works. For some reason the hopper duo didn't like to take the software all the time and would have to do a satellite download.

    I used to work for Dish back in 2008, it was the most frustrating career choice i had ever taken on. At that time the HD orbital was just being rolled out and the orbital kept on falling out of alignment, we had tons of call backs for no HD. That sat buddy had a lousy battery life and would die after 20 minutes, the receivers took forever to update before the customer training could take place. Along with that, hours were spent setting up wild blue just so the customer could open there yahoo emails. That install looks like pie, no trees and plenty of old install points to update.

    • @dishtech4533
      @dishtech4533  2 роки тому +1

      Yeah there's a lot of frustration with the Hoppers now a days. The software is the main one. Going from Dish Pro Plus to Dish Pro Hybrid makes it a cake walk. You only need 1 line from dish, and they replaced solo nodes with hybrid solo hubs, which act as a splitter for the hopper and Joey's. The only thing is the Hoppers are very sensitive to cable. The cable has to be 3ghz cable and all barrels have to be blue barrels for the system to be stable. That in itself requires the entire system to be looked over at every single job.

Here's my issue: The biggest issue I have with my Dish reflector is, when setting the angle, there isn't a specific indicator for the angle. What do you go by? The center of the tightening bolt in the angle scale or ? The skew has a tiny little pointer to indicate what number it's pointing at. The dish angle adjustment doesn't seem to have a mark. Hi,
    I have a technical question for you about my new satellite dual receiver.
    My name is Jean-Pierre Desrochers, I live in Quebec City, Canada.
    I have a single input Bell satellite receiver that I'm about
    to replace for a Bell 9241 Dual receiver unit (same as Dish VIP722).
    So far my wiring installation is the following:
    Dual legacy LnB's (aimed at Nimiq-91° and Nimiq-82°),
    both connected to one SW21 switch, then the output going
    to my single input Bell receiver. Ok.
    My question is:
    If I place a Dish Network 123254 DPP Separator
    at the end of my incoming COAX and use its 2 separate outputs
    to feed the 2 receiver's input, will it work ?
    Will I receive on both receivers ?
    Thank You for your time.

    Why they didn’t just take a Hopper 3? Give me the Western ARC any day for SD fallback. That 129 degree is a hard one though. I would have kept Dish had I could have afforded it, and Dish didn’t keep having contract disputes. I went OTA. DPH is awesome. I had a hybrid setup actually. 110 for SD the EA for HD.

    68db on 110
    34db on 129???
    What do you recommend? It works now but I’m afraid I will lose signal again…..

    • @dishtech4533
      @dishtech4533  2 роки тому +5

      Thanks man! Your 129 signal is very low. That would fail a test. The fact you have strong signal on 119, then drops on 110, and really drops on 129 would probably indicate that either the mast the Dish sits on is not level, or the skew on the Dish is messed up. When signal is strong on 1 sat and low on the other, it means something is crooked. Signal should be as follows:
      74 - 119
      72- 110
      54 - 129

    My Dish Satellite has two coax cables that connect to a dual connector that’s attached to the house wall. Appreciate your advice.

    • @Kiesterish
      @Kiesterish 2 роки тому

      Dish receivers only need 1 cable from a dish. The dual is usually for backup in case the main cable goes bad or to power a second receiver with tuners. Just pick a cable to use, either one will do the trick for an OTA Antenna.

    Is it possible w/ Dish to have a 4 room setup but in one room (basement) NOT see the recordings for the other 3 boxes?
    For example right now we have mediacom & we have 2 dvrs (1 downstairs w/ no minis) & upstairs the other dvr shares its recordings w/ the other 2 minis up there.
    Again I DO NOT want to see the recordings for the 3 other rooms, I only want to see the recordings on my dvr. The 3 rooms upstairs can share recordings.
    Directv would NOT let me speak with a technician & can't give me a straight answer! I don't think its possible with their new genie 2 since it's one 2tb dvr that runs all the clients wirelessly (I've heard the Genie 2 sucks & freezes constantly). Wireless is not reliable that's why I run ethernet to my mediacom dvrs.
    Still not sure if directtv will lease me 2 Genie 1 dvrs (HR54's) or if 1 Genie would allow me to have my own recordings seperate.

    Do I need to have an HIC for my Joey or can I just plug the Ethernet into the back of the Joey? Does an HIC cost extra if I have the dish tech put one In during the install? Would you recommend using an HIC or wireless wifi?

      I want to put a hopper duo in my living room, but I want to use that Ethernet port for my xBox. I have a free ethernet port in my bedroom where the Joey will be.

    • @kimberlygaeta7205
      @kimberlygaeta7205 2 роки тому

      Neither. You connect your internet to the hopper only.

    • @livinglikelarry5008

      If your hopper is connected to internet and you connected your Joey via either net it would work. Moca travels via Ethernet as well

  • @taxallbillionairesandchurches

    Man, Dish installation quality standards have certainly lowered since I worked there... I guess all that FSM's & the C-Suite care about now is how many soundbars you've sold. Does QUAS only show up when you're up for promotion now?
