@@TexasRailfan21-RailfanRyan it would've been so much better if the board was spending all that money on the railroad instead, not the highway because honestly, the train is better
San Diego's COASTER has replaced both of it's F59PHI locomotives in favor of two GP40-2s and one GP9. They are expected to be delivered from the NRE plant in Mt. Vernon.
If caltrans is doing a T4 F59phi rebuild they may get picked up for parts, metrolink if they decided on a similar rebuild program could also take them. Both have have a lack of motive power. I'd expect the state or maybe ACE buys the 2 spare chargers
They are not required to drill them they didn’t use any grant money to pay for the 4 additional chargers. Word on the street is 3001 and 3002 are being sold to Sounder in Seattle.
Those things were trash. They barely ran. They were slow as hell, the 3002's Overspeed went off at 84 mph, nevermind that it's running on a 90 mph railroad, then again, the odds of that pile of shit actually getting up to that speed were iffy on a good day. But usually, the ONE spot it could be done was on the bridge before Ponto going North. And it would go into penalty and you'd recover on the fly and then have to drag the train up into Poinsettia at like 20 mph because you just lost all of your momentum. And then the blended brake either barely worked, or didn't work at all. That's lovely 🙄Whoever bought those things, got bamboozled, duped, swindled, suckered, ROBBED.
It’s rather unfortunate that coaster is struggling. Hopefully they will work out their financial issues
they'd have enough money if the board wasn't burning it on highway expansion
@@gdrriley420 so true

I have heard from many different and reliable sources that these F59PHis might be getting a new lease on life with Sound Transit...

I can barely hear these F59’s K5LA sound on my head every time in my life.
😢😭
Wish the coaster would have MP36PHs
Great video Michael. Hope it gets a fitting new home rather than the scrap man's torch. 🤔
Sucks I never saw one
Hopefully sounder train F59PHI never ends
maybe F59PHI are going retired?
Yup the coaster F59PHI'S will be retired and be replaced with the GP40-2 and one is GP9
@ronadelacruz9675 Not true, Coaster is not getting any GP40s or GP9s whatsoever, that image you saw on twister is fake
RIP The F59s. Do you know if they’ve been drilled or not?

@@mrm10199 I’m glad Sounder got em. Would hate to see them get scrapped. Or worse, sold to West Coast Express. I’m still gonna miss em tho.
What's going on with West Coast Express's Locomotives?@@Ferromexfan4081
Hopefully Sounder overhauls 3001 and 3002.
When will they get retired or something
Good bye, Coaster F59PH-I #3001 & 3002!!!

Are you a coaster engineer?
@@Ferromexfan4081 Used to be.
Are you saying you love the chargers more than the PHIs?
@@coolleo149 Yes. F59's are garbage.
@@michlo3393 well guess what? For most, it's the other way around, "Chargers are garbage"
