The Doan Gang: America’s First Outlaws?
Вставка
- Опубліковано 12 вер 2024
- The Doan Gang of Plumstead, Pennsylvania, may very well be the first documented outlaw gang in the United States. They stole horses and sold them to the British, they robbed tax collectors and even the U.S. Treasury in Newtown, Bucks County. This is their story. #doangang #truecrimewiththesarge #outlaws #plumstead #buckscountypa

Fascinating! I love museums. The historical information and historical tour are absolutely fascinating.
Thanks for watching Tracy. I had fun putting it all together.
Thanks for taking us on a ride, Sarge! It's a very peaceful area even though important historical events took place here 🙏
Thanks for watching Natalia
Wow. I love history and visiting all the historical places. This year my daughter and I were going to go to Wyoming, but Pennsylvania is closer. We're going there instead. Thanks
@@Momcentral if you wind up near Philadelphia, make sure you go to eastern state penitentiary
What a fascinating look at early outlaw history, Joe! I love PA - what a beautiful peaceful place - such a contrast to the atrocities occurred. Thank you for taking us along! 😃
Thanks for joining me!
I am a history buff so I really enjoyed this, so Thank You. I hope we can get more content like this.
Will do Susan!
Thank you. I truly enjoy your historical jaunts and travels down "rabbit holes".
I’m glad to hear it!
Thanks Sarge, I really enjoyed the tour and learning some history. Excellent!
I’m glad to hear it Tea!
I’ll just be heading in the door to work as you go live. Dang it! Il catch it later Joe.
No worries. The replay crew is awesome too!
Sarge this was AWESOME! Thank you for the fascinating historical crime lesson... you have given Mrs. Mayhem our first adventure once I get rid of the blasted crutches lol. I pray the poison ivy wasn't horrific, and a quick recovery ensued. We also enjoyed the bit of a head scratcher from last night's quiz. Have an awesome remainder of the weekend.🙏💜
You too and thanks for watching! It’s a fun trip
That was so interesting, thank you!
Thanks for watching Rachel!
That was amazing❤Thank you for this history adventure.
Thanks for watching Michele!
Looks so beautiful and peaceful.
Great history lessons.
Thanks for watching!
This was fun and truly well done!
Thanks for watching Kathleen!
Cool story, Joe. Thanks for the tour and interesting story. It's strange that when I was a student, I had no interest in history, now I love learning all that I missed so many years ago.
Thanks for watching Lynn. I was always a fan of history because of that old saying if you don’t know what you’re doomed to repeat it.
Thanks, Joe. The next time I am Philly to see my daughter, we're taking a Bucks County history detour. And I am going to see if I here Mr. Or Ms. "I miss you."
Sounds like a plan!
Hello everyone. Thanks Joe!
Thanks Debbie for coming out and watching
Thanks so much for taking us with you and teaching us a bit of history. I hope you're legs are feeling better 🤞
Thanks! ☠️
Loved this Joe. I hope you do more of these historical-type videos. Sorry, I had to catch it on replay. I had a lot of yard work to do today. Pennsylvania has some beautiful places.
Thanks Viv. I intend to do some more of these. I had fun doing it.
What a great treat Joe. My Dad would love this. Hope your legs were ok! Must do some research on that meeting point…
Thanks for watching Sinead!
It seems they were Scottish but as their ‘forebears’ had spent 100years in Ireland they were classed as Scot/ Irish.
You learn something new everyday! Thanks Joe!
💜Those veteran markers really are all oxidised by the elements so looks like they were once copper. Thanks for the fascinating ep, Sarge™️ 💜
Thanks for watching Kerry!
Thank you Sarge.
Thanks for watching Maria!
This is so awesome! I love sightseeing history! ❤💙
The Revolutionary War Veteran markers are wonderful ❤
Thanks for watching Paula!
I was surprised how many are buried there
@@TrueCrimeWithTheSarge I can't belive you found the brothers markers! Abraham's looked like it was made of marble and far more legible than the ones inside the wall. Must have been all the loot they had to invest in them😁
My stomping grounds. There are still Doan kin in the Bucks County Area.
It was a fun show to put together. Stay tuned!
Do tell?
Nothing beats a ‘Not Spielberg’ directed video!
😎🙌🏻
@@TrueCrimeWithTheSarge 😂
Evening Sarge. Never heard of the Doan Gang
Hi Jan, I hadn’t either until I saw it while researching something else
@@TrueCrimeWithTheSarge i get sidetracked like that too 😁
Thank you ! I enjoyed this very much. Been gone for a minute..trying to catch up Be Blessed
Thanks for watching!
@TrueCrimeWithTheSarge Of course! Love the show. Sometimes we get so involved in cases we need a different scene..I enjoyed this!

Thank you, I’m glad you enjoyed it!
Thank you for the great content I got to see some things that I have not seen. The rabbit hole is very deep as you know. Sincerely LoblB
Yes, it is
I love learning new history Thank you
Thanks for watching!
This was really interesting.
Thanks for watching Gia
Very cool! I grew up in Doylestown and have never heard of the Doan Gang😂
Nice town!
Thank you so much for this little slice of local history. And a look at a beautiful historic town. Major Kennedy must have been a brave man. So was Ben Franklin. And the dirty Doans got their due. 😉
Thanks for watching Elaine
G’afternoon Sarge
Hi jlynnyay!
“Friends” refers to Quaker’s. I attended Whittier College, a Quaker school. Richard Nixon also attended Whittier College undergraduate.
Omg! I grew up in Warminster Bucks county and went to Edna’s Antiques (Bogarts Tavern) with my mom and grandmom in the 1970s! Then to New Hope for ice cream! Ty for the history lesson!!
Excellent. The antique shop closed up about a year ago
@@TrueCrimeWithTheSarge I miss it so much out there. In Seattle area for the last 22 years. Hope to make it back sometime. 🤞
Fantastic!
Very nice day out! And re the Doan's crime sprees ~ it's true, times change, but people don't.
(My mom loved Revolutionary history, too. She took us kids on road trips up & down the NE/New England, visiting towns like Plumstead. Also, her mom was born into one of the last remaining PA Quaker families. She left PA in her 20s to marry a musician.)
It was fun putting it together
I love history! Thank you! 13:17 13:17
Thanks for watching Beth
Very interesting next time go find the cave!!
Thanks for watching, but no thanks! Not a fan of closed in spaces
Those bloody British! Hi Sarge from England! 🥸
Hi Ellen. Thanks for watching. It was quite the historical tour.
I studied History at University 👍
Bucks County is Lovely now I'll have to watch ❤
This Sunday, 1PM is the Premiere!
I'm here from Grizzly true crime. Mom lives in Bucks county. I live in Upper Dublin. Originally from kiladelphia.😂
@@police123cd this story takes place in Doylestown, Plumstead, Newtown, and Quakertown!
Ima Patreon Grizzley. @@police123cd My Dad, his Sis & Brother were from Morrisville. My Mom's family from the Brandywine Valley, which has its fair share of history 😊. Ive lived in the West & PNW since my family migrated in 1956, but "visited "vicariously via UA-cam during the jailbreak & manhunt last year (Calvacante).
My ancestors! They were real jerks but I can't help being a tiny bit proud to be related.
People haven't changed so much over the centuries, have they? I'd love to see the old tavern refurbished and buzzing again
The property is up for sale. They want something like four or 5 million for it, but they have to keep the historical building in place.
Well done, Sarge🕵
Thanks Simi!
I can't believe it's not Spielberg!
I know, right?😁
I love the history of our nation. Thanks so much for sharing Joe. I would love to see this poison ivy and all.😂however , I hope you were spared. Thanks again.
Thanks for watching Cheryl. Unfortunately, I got it! I’m super susceptible to it, but no biggie
Thanks for the tour - I won’t google but wondering if this is where the term ‘outlaw’ comes from - they couldn’t be buried within cemetery. Then I think ‘in-law’. Whatever. P.S. When my nephew Alex, (West Point 2004) was growing up in Brooklyn, we used to tell him Jimmy Hoffa was buried under his bed.
I don’t know where the term comes from either. But the quaker religion had many things that you couldn’t do killing was one of them.
12:20 😳
Freaky stuff
💕
If the Lanape tribe could or would speak, we would know the truth. But we all know what happened to them don't we... Sincerely LoblB
Who owns the Bogart Taven now
Did i miss something here how come its not on ?
It becomes live at 1PM today - 22 minutes
@@TrueCrimeWithTheSarge
Joe my UA-cam is broken it won't let me send a email to you. Do you have p.o. box if not that's ok too. Or a email. You tube swallowed my card
@@bradr2142 jgiacalone5274 at gmail.com
Maybe...😅
I just watched Joe on Grizzly True Crime today say he wished Back Page (where children were trafficked) wasn't shut down
This guy is disgusting
I was waiting for that, even stated it before I said it. You missed the point. If you’re too stupid to understand how criminal investigations work, maybe you should delete your account.
You Tell them Joe❤❤
You lose...now all the trafficking is underground... At least LE could track it. This goes for crimes against s*x workers too... Too simplistic...please use your powers of deduction
@@dawnkladerman598 what exactly
That was aimed at the OP, Joe... I watched that too & I totally understand why you'd prefer they didn't discontinue@@TrueCrimeWithTheSarge. My original comment didn't show & was directed to the snarker. I totally agree with you. UA-cam is unpredictable...it called you out on this but didn't tag them on mine previous remark

That, I did not know!
