I was wondering how many hours have the oven 'pre-heated' while waiting for the final baking step.
Could just create a dent in the middle of the dough on your palm and wrap the filling inside while pulling the edges to seal instead. Like making bao. Then roll the dough with your palms to even out the dough. Don't think you can wet the dough to "cover" cracks.

For the base won't it be easier to roll out the base with a rolling pin and use a cookie cutter to cut out the dough then wrap or this type of dough won't work?
