Laine is 21 years old, has scored 138 goals in his 3 and a half seasons played in the NHL. Came to the league as an 18 year old and scored 36 goals in his rookie season. In the following season, 44 goals. Still as a teenager. He has scored the seventh-most goals before turning 22 in the over 100-year history of the NHL. Also he was drafted #2 just behind Auston Matthews in 2016. His signature shot is the one where he's standing still and one-times it topshelf (4:37), he has scored like half of his goals that way. He's a Finland's men's top league champion, under 18 world championship's silver medalist, under 20 world champion and men's world championship's silver medalist (men's silver medal in 2016 when he was just 18). Adam, I'm so proud of you. 6mths in & you've learn so much about hockey. It's great to see you live the game. Stay safe, be kind, smile & wash your damn hands💚
Laine was taken 2nd overall in 2016 (right after Auston Matthews) by the Winnipeg Jets. Pretty sure he’s only 22 years old. He’s dominated the IIHF world tournaments for Finland since he was 16 and his shot is often compared to Alex Ovechkins. He has a physical downside and has been called lazy by a lot of sports anchors but still has potential to be one the greatest Finnish goal scorers the league has ever seen.
The reason that hat trick goal held extra significance was because of the storyline surrounding it. Laine was drafted 2nd overall behind Austin Matthews on the Maple Leafs. Matthews has a breakaway right before that and is unable to score then the 2nd overall pick, Laine, takes the puck the other way and ends the game.
PLEASE WATCH BOBBY ORR ADAM!!! He revolutionized the game and is one of the greatest of all time. Many say he is the goat (not me, but it’s close imo) in about 9 seasons worth of games he won defense men of the year 8 times in a row, league mvp 3 times in a row, scoring trophy twice (only defense man to ever do that even once), Stanley cup finals mvp twice, 2 Stanley cups, rookie of the year... And if he played today he could possibly still be dominant with equipment and medical advancements. Then hitting isn’t as bad as in the 70s so who knows how good he’d be today. Not the greatest but the best ever imo
Laine was the 2nd overall pick in 2016 after Auston Matthews. He scored 36 goals and added 28 assists for a total of 64 points in his rookie season. (73GP) In his second year he got 44 goals and 26 assists for 70 points. (82GP) Last year was a bit of a down year, but he still scored a good 30 goals and added 20 assists for 50 points. (82GP) This season he played in 68 games scoring 28 goals and adding 35 assists for 63 points. In total he's played 305 career NHL games and scored 138 goals and 109 assists for 247 points.

Best defenseman of this era is pretty clearly Nicklas Lidström. Other recent greats include Shea Weber, Scott Stevens, Chris Chelios, Duncan Keith, many others. Bobby Orr is probably the best defenseman of all time. He played from the late 60s to late 70s. Keep up the great work, Adam!

@@dereks4145 for highlights? Yes. The thing about Lidstrom, Chelios and others greats like Bourque is that they were very effective players that rarely make mistakes. Lidstrom is often describe as the guy you wouldn't notice all night but end up with 2 assists anyway. I'll take him over Subban any day but I'll rather watch a video Subban best plays than Lidstrom.

The brilliant thing about Laine, and how he's used by the Jets...is that you know in advance EXACTLY what he's going to do. He sets up at the top of the left circle for the one-timer. That's not the ONLY way he scores goals, but on the powerplay it's by far the most common. So teams KNOW it's coming. Goalies know where they have to be. And they STILL can't stop him a lot of the time. It doesn't hurt that the Jets have a first-rate top powerplay unit, so Laine's only ONE threat out there...Scheifele and Wheeler are both gifted goalscorers, and Connor and Morrissey are quite dangerous in their own right. But the diagonal pass, across the middle of the ice to Laine there in his office, is maybe the most common way they repeatedly try to score goals, and it works A LOT of the time. I swear more than HALF of Laine's goals are just from this play (and 3/4 of his powerplay goals). And even in that last clip there, where Laine misses the one-timer the first time...you'd think the Wild would maybe, I dunno...pressure the puck-carrier, make the pass harder...or get in the lane so that the shot doesn't get through. Nope...they let him have the shot, and it goes in. One of the 2 most lethal right shots playing the left side one-timer IN THE LEAGUE (only Chicken does it better), and they let him have the shot. And honestly...it's not just a Wild problem. Most teams let him have the shot. And they oftentimes come to regret it.
I'd love to see a reaction to Roman Josi, one of the top playmaking defensemen in the game nowadays. He has 65 points in 69 games this season, making him the 2nd best scoring defender in the entire league and best scorer of his team.
Laine as a player type would be what we call a Sniper. He has a excellent shot, heavy and accurate. His hand eye coordination and one timer are top notch and he can always see the open net. His overall game still needs some work, but he took a huge step forward on that also this season. Also I don't know if you know this already, but Finland is the biggest european Hockey country by capita. I think we are the only country in europe where Hockey is the clear #1 sport. Sweden, Germany and Switzerland also do well in Hockey but to my knowledge soccer is still bigger in each of those. In Fin there is no question, most people don't even follow soccer in finland, and we suck at it. But Finns live and breather hockey. NHL D-men are awesome and you really should. Shea Weber, PK. Subban(Mtl version), Drew Doughty, Victor Hedman, Scott Niedermayer, Ray Bourque, Chris Pronger, Scott Stevens, Niklas Kronwall haha You got a tone of choices for defense.
Quinn Hughes would have been rookie of the year if not for the shorter season. Hes an offensive Defenseman. You wont disappoint with his elite puck handling skills.
Some great young offensive defenceman you should react to are, Tony Dangleo , Quinn Hughes, Cale Makar. I would also recommend watching the recent 2019 NHL playoff overtime goals. Super hype and electrifying would definitely love to see u react to this.
Hey Adam great job on all the reaction videos. I get on UA-cam everyday and see if you’ve posted a new hockey reaction and I love how much of a fan you’ve become in such a short time. Only thing that makes me cringe a little is pronouncing the names but it’s okay you will get there eventually 🙃💯
On that last goal, how mad would you be if you were the coach? They just attempted a one-timer and messed up, for them to stay in possession, reset and pull the exact same manoeuvre and it comes off, I’d be fuming! The whole line would be off and wouldn’t get another shift for the rest of the game. “Fool me once - shame on you, fool me twice - shame on me” As for what defensemen to react to, the recently retired Niklas Kronwall is a must, he had a hit named after him because he did it so often.
Super random but I wanted to let you know I was playing chel and one guys name was “ovenchicken”😂 you’ve definitely reached a lot of the hockey community
Unfortunately there isn't a whole lot of defensive highlights videos on UA-cam, quite simply because it is less impressive than highlight goals and less visible. People will notice it when a defender gets undressed, but when the same defender does a great poke check, it often flies under the radar for a lot of people. That being said, I'm sure you can still find good videos of defensive awareness. I've just looked it up, and there is: ''Sidney Crosby Defensive Awareness'' Sidney Crosby has been for a long time the consensus best player in the world, and a big part of that is for his defensive awareness. Also: ''Patrice Bergeron under the radar highlights'' Patrice Bergeron is one of the best defensive forwards in the game, and this video shows a lot of these skills he has to create turnovers. And last, but not least: ''Nicklas Lidstrom - Shutdown Defense'' I just watched this video, as I myself didn't know that much about nicklas lidstrom, but these defensive highlights are flat out insane.
Depends. Any Nicklas Lidström video would show the finesse in defending correctly. He was never out of position and i really can't remember a time that he was undressed.
Well if your looking for a sick d-man, u should go for Erik Karlsson i'll say, and Viktor Hedman is pretty sick aswell! Love your stuff. Love from Sweden
One of the best densemen of all time, both defensively and offensively is known as Mr. Perfect. Nicklas Lidstrom. You MUST check this guy out. The Datsyuk of Defense.
Well the defensive side of hockey is very complicated.. The highlights will mostly be big hits haha.. But there are many great defensive players out there that does so much more then just hit hard - Positioning, reading the play, not getting caught with their pants down by the forecheck… It doesn't look very impressive to anyone unless you're a hockey geek like me.. I get impressed when someone can make the opponents offense as dull as a butter knife. (Patrice Bergeron is one that comes to mind I guess - Still his highlights would probably not give him the defensive super credit he deserves - He scores a fair amount as well so)
Biggest floater in the league. He doesn’t create plays, he piggybacks on the plays created by his teammates. Not to mention almost half of his goals are on the power play.
you should react to Game5 inning 7 of the Alds playoff series between the Toronto Blue Jays and the Texas rangers and then the follow up game the season later with the fight between Bautista and Odor. some of the most intense baseball you'll watch

Quinn Hughes would have been rookie of the year if not for the shorter season. Hes an offensive Defenseman. You wont disappoint with his elite puck handling skills.
React to Miro Heiskanen. He is the best young defenceman in nhl
Erik Karlsson tops plays are dope and worth checking out. Best defensemen of all time to check out are Bobby Orr, Nickolas Lindstrom, Ray Bourque
I love how much you’ve grown to love the sport ❤️
Also, for the thousandth time.... please watch Vegas vs San Jose playoffs game 7 (full highlights)
YESSSSSSSSSSSSSS!!!
On that last goal, how mad would you be if you were the coach? They just attempted a one-timer and messed up, for them to stay in possession, reset and pull the exact same manoeuvre and it comes off, I’d be fuming! The whole line would be off and wouldn’t get another shift for the rest of the game. “Fool me once - shame on you, fool me twice - shame on me”
As for what defensemen to react to, the recently retired Niklas Kronwall is a must, he had a hit named after him because he did it so often.
I bet u got pretty many subscribers from finland after this vid including me👌
You should get a Jets Jersey, their a fantastic team and this is your second video on one of their players, patty laine and Dustin Byfuglien
Byfuglien ain't here anymore but yeah
I hate Laine because he always scores on my Wild as you see they were in half this video lol
Victoria Park at least you’re not a stars fan he scored on them ever since he started in the league
Victoria Park Laine is the best!!! (i’m also from Winnipeg so.......)
Flyers had ( 8 ) Goalies - Last Season !
Super random but I wanted to let you know I was playing chel and one guys name was “ovenchicken”😂 you’ve definitely reached a lot of the hockey community
Go Jets Go!!!!!
I've just looked it up, and there is: ''Sidney Crosby Defensive Awareness''
Sidney Crosby has been for a long time the consensus best player in the world, and a big part of that is for his defensive awareness.
She's Weber, Brent burns and Mark giodano
Love your vids
Shea Weber is a good defence man with a good slap shot. (I’ve wrote this comment on a vid before)
You did make a video on a defense, Dustin byfuglien
I love yah clips man ... Zdeno Chara would be a great guy to video on !!!!! You won't be dissapointed
He's underachieved thus far in his career - with his shot, physical tools, and the team he plays on, he should be scoring 40-50+ goals every season.
React to the IIHF ice hockey world championships
You should react to Quinn Hughes who plays for the Vancouver Canucks
You should react to nhl series winning goals parts 1 and 2
Do big buff
Is that a Sarnia sting puck at the start of the episode
For defense you could look at Erik Karlsson, Zdeno Chara, Brian Leetch, Shea Weber, or Nik Lidstrom for some examples
I really don't know why Karlsson plays defense though... His defensive play is terrible, should probably be a winger.
One of the best densemen of all time, both defensively and offensively is known as Mr. Perfect. Nicklas Lidstrom. You MUST check this guy out. The Datsyuk of Defense.
In a game against the blues Lainea had 5 goals on 5 shots he is a pure snipper. Haylay Wickenheiser that is a hockey player.
U should do Fredrick Anderson he is one of the top goalies in the league and had some spectacular saves
(Patrice Bergeron is one that comes to mind I guess - Still his highlights would probably not give him the defensive super credit he deserves - He scores a fair amount as well so)
He also scored 5 goals in 1 game last season
John Carlson of the Washington caps, Cale Makar of Colorado and Quinn Hughes of Vancouver are all some stud d men
Biggest floater in the league.
Nick Lidstrom, best defenseman ever, also the nicest guy ever too
