Can't finish watching this. You just destroyed a valuable piece of artistry & quality padding materials that someone spent HOURS creating & meticulously putting together and replaced it with JUNK (foam rubber will dry out & fall apart very quickly). Everybody's taste differs, and it is important to create to your taste. I think maybe you could've found a way to preserve the needlepoint (that took HOURS to do, even if person only did the background/as was often common) or offered the stool in exchange for a modern one, etc. and found another piano bench that lacked an antique/in tact seat to showcase your skill.
If the needlepoint was that important to them, they should have kept the bench. Not everything has to be preserved just because it took a long time to make.

To each is own. It might of took hours but it didn’t match our style so it had to go.
