Never a boring video Mark. Fair play to sergeant crow, top man Stephen 👍 Pity about the head case😳 You should have gave me a ring if you were stuck in Maynooth. I’m only a 10 minute drive from there. I could have put you both up for the night. Entertaining video as always. Catch up soon pal👍
Jaysus Mark, you never fail to entertain, great video , I was just thinking how tranquil it looked as you went through different places, pity about the drama in Enfield!
Great video and it looked like a great trip. That's what I love about your videos, there not Generic like a lot I have seen. That's because you're a Dub.🇮🇪🚲 I always enjoy watching your Adventures. Well done Guy's and fair play to your friend who brought the battery. Look forward to seeing your next video. 👍🇮🇪👍
Great stuff lads well done the green way its good spot for cycling done it few times.... Enfield its a kip lol no joke best thing out there is the train or bus lol .. great video lads.. 🏕
Yeah 25km is decent enough, it was going under the bridges with the skinny paths was tricky I thought, and the turnstiles , the fat tires adds extra comfort though increases drag and uses more power going uphills 🚴♂️👊
Quick snapshot of the country's longest greenway: The Royal Canal which begins life at the Shannon river, just east of Cloondara Trail-head in Co. Longford meanders roughly in a west to east direction, to Ringsend Basin in Co. Dublin. Of which 130 kms to Maynooth that is now transformed into greenway material, consists of hard-packed, gravel and paved surfaces; a fairly flattish route, punctuated by bridges and locks that are the “hilly” bits. So, a bikepacking trip for an enthused novice rider shouldn't be that much of an intensive excursion… ..Or so we thought. But to say our journey was one which began with a bang and ended with a whimper, would be somewhat of an unfair description. Our 3-nighter was beset with a few hiccups and setbacks which cluttered what would've been a fab trip, in the forms, of a torrential cloudburst just midway to our first campsite in Ballynacargy (it was forecasted), an unchartered tour of Abbeyshrule (lovely little detour), a battery that was too hot to trot to the next campsite in Cunninghams pub in Mullingar (fair play to a good samaritan who answered the call with a fresh battery), and a wayward gatecrasher with a dodgy attitude, just when we were pitching our tents along the banks of the Royal Canal, for our 3rd night, in Enfield (a distant peal of the aul triangle) which was the final toll that had us strung out. So we hightailed it outta there on a non-stop midnight ride for the remaining 17 kms to Maynooth to… ..Miss the last train which pulled out on our way to the station platform! Barely slept the 6 hours of wait time to the next train back to Dublin. So yeah, brilliant greenway. Not so brilliant set of unforeseen circumstances. But, while our version of the outing sounds a wee bit woeful, it is absolutely no reflection of what is a marvellous ride for those who want to sample a day out or more, of Ireland’s pastoral countryside. Go for it peeps…🚵♂️🚵🤛🏼
Hello from D8, I'm Very sorry to hear that One Drunken Idiot spoiled what looked to be a Realy good trip. I had been hopeing to go on my first Cycling holiday abroad...but after watching your Vlog I have changed my mind and I am going to Attrmpt to do that same journey on my Emtb but the other way round from Dublin. Best Wishe's to you and your's.
I always find it a bit depressing that our canal system are not put to better use. There are large sections that are completely devoid of narrow boats or barges. There is nothing nicer in the Uk than to sit outside a bar or cafe in Uk and watch the boaters mooring and going through the locks. I think that waterways Ireland have some draconian rules.
There are plenty of spots like that on the Athlone greenway, and there are some on this one . Ballincarrigy, Cloondara are beautiful. I’d say will improve over the years as it gets busier, some great opportunities for coffee vans along the way . Overall it’s a great endeavour and it seems lots of counties are falling over each other to get one . The Westport to Achill island greenway brought 400k + visitors last year 💰💰 I’ve another two planned for this summer, whenever that happens 😁 thanks for the comment dude 👊
Hear yer man looking french fries... you'll get chips like everybody else and like them!!! Just kidding Mark. Good video. Enjoyed it. That boy was probably acting up to see if you would give him money to go away. Mad bast****, but mad the right road. Thats the problem when you have to pitch up somewhere public, the headers all come out
