I was an extrusion operator at Hardie irrigation co. In El Cajon Ca. During the eighties. We had to do everything manually. We set the laser hole and glue patch , as well as cut the line and slap it to a piece of tape on the next reel. Then we would cut a sample from the finished reel and take it for testing. If the sample did not pass, we were scrapping. At this point we would check all of the settings, clean the line if neccessary, then cut and start the next reel. If the next test sample passed we were good to go, if not we were still scrapping. We also had to cut all of the hose off of the scrapped product reels so that it could be ground up and used again. There were no lunch breaks , you had to eat between reels, about 5 minutes. Craziest job I ever had. Anybody else out there ever do this job?
