I absolutly LOVED this game! I do not regret buying it!! For those who don't know, this game was made by three guys! THREE! Two worked on the game and the third one on the soundtrack! They did an amazing job! Hands down guys! Beautiful game, beautiful soundtrack and the ending was just as beautiful.
My daughter used to play a game like this when she was younger. A lot of these types of games are more about imagination and providing somewhat of a sandbox environment. Sure, as an adult there might not be much to do, but for a child with a big imagination who loves animals, this is pretty cool!
A few years late to the party, but I don’t care. The game was amazing. No voice lines, just actions, and yet it’s one of the best stories I’ve seen. The ending truly brought me to tears. It’s going down as one of my favourite games.
Literally same! Bought this game yesterday morning, played it all day, had work today and after work tonight went back on and finished it. I looooveee games with environmental aspects and amazing graphics, and the storyline was amazing, all these people with unimaginative minds not able to figure out this obvious story ?? I cried every time the main character fox died, especially when you went into the spirit world in chapter 7. I loved the heavenly aspect of chapter 7 till it became hell tho tryna find my way around, had to use a guide but after half an hour it was the most beautiful part when the spirit companion got his evilness gone and the shamans revived him to his spirit fox self. Then the ending!!!! When you see the spirit foxes real body there then you die for good in order to become a guardian fox too 😭😭😭. I can’t and will never get over this game till the second one comes out😭
Just played through the game the past few days and completed it today. The game reminds me of Endling and The First Tree and definitely was moved to tears by the end. Definitely buying the sequel when it eventually comes out.
Haven't played it yet, but I did take note that early in the review he complained that puzzles were too easy and "fetch quests." Then later in the review complained that puzzles were too difficult and obtuse. Seems contradictory. People in the comments seemed to have liked it.
I took exception to his complaints about increasing difficulty on the puzzles, as well. It seems to me that this would actually be an ideal change as the game progresses, as opposed to some sort of deficiency or flaw. Puzzles make for some of the best features of these sorts of games, and I'd be disappointed if they all remained simple & straight-forward throughout the game in the name of "consistency."
This game is absolutely brilliant. It’s made me actually want to go on holiday to Iceland to see this beautiful scenery for myself. I also love the story behind this, the usual boy meets girl and their relationship grows. I also love the playful aspects of the game, the barking and jumping and interactions with the girl spirit fox. There’s no difficulty level within this game, it’s basically you have to figure it out for yourself.
@@Cloud_that_looks_like_a_cat I know it’s green but has ice and volcanoes. It’s still a lovely place to visit. It’s very beautiful. From the pictures I’ve seen on the internet.
The only issue I have with this game in principle is that it seems to be trying to achieve what the likes Okami has already done, with the bloom aspect seeming to be a throwback to the tears of light from Zelda TP(which also drew inspiration from Okami).
I am a big fan of these "emotional interactive experiences" like Journey, Abzu, Oure, or the last I have finished, the amazing Rime. Dude, Rime is just outstanding. This game made a really deep mark on me. But I miss more challenging puzzles in these games, like Obduction. Yeah, I need more games in this direction.
@@The-Man-On-The-Mountain Same here. I love games with no dialogue that tell a deep emotional story. I'll never forget Rime. I wish they made more of this type of game.
This game has the same issue I have with so many- I know exactly what I *need* to do, but I can't make it happen. Too often the platforming element is harder than it needs to be. The fox is shit at jumping and doesn't go where she's supposed to go! Her turning circle sucks. The artificial walls are also very annoying. I've spent a lot of time watching real life foxes, and they can scale 2.5m high walls and walk on very narrow ledges. In this game your fox is often unable to jump on top of a 40cm high rock.
Seasons After Fall is another. It's 2d but platforming and you have to find flowers to bloom. Puzzles were good in that and I ended up getting the Platinum trophy.
honestly couldn't play through it. the bad controls along with the slow gameplay turned me off of the game as soon as the tedious walking was toppled with getting stuck. it spent a whole 10-20 minutes walking really slow due to an injury, with needlessly long hallways between too many rooms before the story could magically heal the fox anyway.
netweed09 thanks and I went ahead last night and got it. Been watching it at 24.99 for a long time and promised myself if it went on sale, I’d grab it. It’s extremely beautiful, the music is excellent, and at least in the beginning, it’s incredibly fun! Thanks!
I can relate ... please try "Gris", it's a simple but beautiful game with amazing music. It was just what I needed when I was in the same place. Godspeed.
Rob Haney Thanks for the suggestion! I’ll check it out! I mean, I have a backlog of 100+ AAA games, but I’m finding more fun with the Indie games. Made by people with love and you can usually feel that with how they make them. Not that all AAA aren’t, but it’s different. Like The First Tree, made by one man who basically made it to deal with his grief, grief in general. I’ve been finding these games more and more. I get done with an hour of something intense and then want to chill out. Or if the depression is hitting hard, just want to peacefully escape into a beautiful world. Thanks again for the suggestions!!! I’ll check right now.
I bought this game expecting to love it, but honestly... I found it really boring. I know it's meant to be peaceful and atmospheric, but there's so little to do, and minimal reward for exploration (there are lots of invisible walls in the environment too). I found the camera and frame rate would go crazy often, and experienced occasional glitches where unlocked areas would not let me through among other issues. Definitely a beautiful game, and had its moments if you're looking for something mellow, but disappointing in my opinion.
The game has such great potential, but is a frustrating game at best. If you like a "wander around and look" game it's fine, but be prepared for frustration when trying to get through it. Glad I only paid $23 for the game.
What is the button for camera control? It seems not to be in Control Options Menu. I use joytokey and other button seems working fine, but there's no rotating camera control to check where I am or where to go (So far my camera is stuck going 'north'). I tried to press evert button in keyboard but it doesn't do jack.
Spent about an hour playing this. The controls could be better but if you want to pop on a nice looking game while listening to some music, podcast or something this game is perfect for that. It's worth trying. Edit: Chapter 3 - jumping, hitting the rocks and falling back into the water a few times got to me.
The narrator/reviewer sounds kind frustrated at least that is how his tone sou ds to me. Oddly enough the monotonous sound his voice kinda like he xould be a college professor or something.

It's kind of like how I've noticed a lot of games going after Nordic mythology as of lately. New God of war, Through the woods, Senuas blade, Zombie Vikings, Viking squad, etc etc. Some more heavy on the lore than others, but nonetheless an interesting pattern emerging from these topics.

This game made me sick.. you dont know where this fox comes from.. does he have any friends? There is NOTHING around.. no signs of life of ANY kind...not even a bird in the sky..you follow the trail down to a cave full of dead people.. you bring a magical staff to the dead body.. a path opens up and there is a spirit fox.. Great another dead person! you follow this fox doing its tasks til it makes you fall off a cliff and you break your leg.. The fox is limping to the point it passes out or dies.. I dunno.. the spirit fox gives you all its energy and follows you as a spirit orb still wanting you to do more favors since it "revived" you.. you get more magical staffs and finally after many transformations you too become a spirit fox.. WHY would you want to be with a fox that caused you to break your leg and work you literally to death??? This walks through after seeing it, made me SICK! I asked for a refund right away...

Go back to playing your mindless assassin's Creed or call of duty, rinse and repeat core gameplay loop, no innovation, never trying anything new, give me a game that isn't either of the latter any day, they're, you have to discover the games mechanics over time, like you would solve a puzzle box or a rubics cube, bust open the game break wide open it's game mechanics, discover what the game is truly about and all it has to offer! Don't get me wrong I love a good shooter from time to time but I prefer a thinking man's game anyway.
