A lot to consider. I like the bling. And Spike is a great product. Necessary at the homebrew level? Probably not. It is nearly price prohibitive. But, damn it's a nice kit. If you can afford it, go for it! Good thorough series. Well done!
How right you are! I often laugh (mostly at myself) about all the equipment. Some day I might do a side-by-side video: same beer brewed in buckets vs all of the fancy stuff. My guess is that they would be similar. At the end of the day I can rationalize it all by knowing that this is my hobby and passion. As my wife says, I love to tinker and there is nothing better than tinkering with brewing equipment. Thanks (as always) for watching and your comment. This time I've seen the dump elbow completely off????? I like the idea to remove it to keep yeast or just remove entire glass to clean. Put it back on and reopen the valve. I've read people have problems getting the trub out without getting way to much beer. So just removing it. Cleaning ans reattaching might be the answer. ?!
Hi , thanks for watching. I think you are right. Sometimes I just pop it off, other times I do the more traditional dump through the elbow. One full sight glass of yeast is usually all I worry about keeping. I also agree that sometimes the waste while trying to dump can be high. I have other videos on trub dump and yeast harvesting that address that. Thanks again for watching. -DT
