Amazing Behag.. 🎉

One of the rare instances one gets to listen to a serious alapana -- that too at its best -- elongated alapana every bit blissful at the beginning of a kutcheri -- in this case the lovely raga Behag !!! -- followed by -- meanwhile Charumathi, the delightful young violinist doing the subdued and yet appropriately sweet accompanimemnt , followed by [Charumathi is excelling in her take of sweet Behag not outdoing Ramakrishnan Murthy at the same time giving enough embellishment to make the kutcheri a success -- kudos to her -- ha ha ... what is to follow? "Smara janaks shubha charitha " by my old Travancore Kingsom's HH Swathi Thirunal !! With the gifted NC Bharadhwaj on mridangam it is such a pleasure ... He announced Bahag; along with announcing thillana, it would have been quite appropriate to announce the raga Dhanashri along with the two songs he sang were by Swathi Thirunal, the erstwhile Maharajah of Travancore where his first music teacher heails from.
