    You can do this. I did study for the CPA and quit it due to time conflict. But I am back to it now determined to get this done. I have a full time job and my own business on the side, I use my office after work to get all my studies done.
    Wish you best of luck and keep it up.

    Hi Sara! I started my CPA prep last week and honestly these videos help me out a lot. Watching your videos helped me to decide on Becker and forming some sort of plan which I am trying to follow as much as possible cause it seems like you learn the same way I do. Hope to see more videos about the CPA because they do make me feel like I’m not the only one going through this so you’re a motivation to keep it going.
    Thank you so much! 💕

    I've passed two exams and am waiting for my BEC and REG results. My study habits were similar to yours -- one day devoted, the rest try to to 2 hours per day. I'd try to do 2 or 3 chapters a week in Gleim (they always have 20 chapters). I can offer all sorts of tips, but the big one is just to pay attention to your weaknesses as you near the end of the review. Beyond that, you're on the right track, so don't lose heart!

    • @SaraMarie
      @SaraMarie  6 років тому

      Great tips! I definitely plan to create a list of my weaknesses and try to focus on them towards the end!

    • @FrankProvo
      @FrankProvo 6 років тому

      My latest results were 87 REG and 98 BEC. I'm glad to be done. I'm sure you'll be good with BEC if you follow Becker. I did Gleim and even though the test spooked me, my intuition apparently rocked it. REG was the one I ended up putting the most work into, to the point I even ran through Roger's cram course for it. I'll be keeping up with your videos to see your progress. Be adaptable. Be confident. You got this!

    I just finished my CPA journey and received my CPA certification. I also used Becker and was able to pass the exam in 5 months on my first try after graduating last May. IT WAS TOUGH! I was right out of college when I started studying and it was still tough. BUT there's no better feeling than when its over and you know how hard you worked! Thanks for this video, seems like you're really putting in the effort and you'll be great!

    I finished studying Becker FAR last month and took the exam. I found that once I made it to chapter 6 or 7 and I reviewed what I had learned in the earlier chapters, I forgot SO MUCH. I found that I needed to make extra note cards to take around with me and be honest with myself that if I forgot it the first time I was bound to forget it a second time! The extras helped so much that I was able to remember almost every little thing and JE! Keep Going!

      Gaurav Gupta FAR will be my first test in Aug 2018. I did a lot of researched before I started studying. The recommended hours to put in is 20 hours a week in addition to do a lot of practice questions.
      It took me 3 hours just to figure out how FAR research simulations work. Don’t get me started on the document simulations.
      I’m taking one test at a time.

    You’re doing great, Sara! I am also studying for the CPA while working full time and keeping an active VLOG channel haha but you’re rockin’ it on being a mom and wife too. I’m so impressed. I took Audit first and am about to take REG in a couple of weeks, then I will finally face FAR. I’m nervous. Lol but you’ve got this girl. I’m also using Becker and love it. I often question if this is all worth it too. You’re not alone. Keep it up and keep inspiring other candidates!

      Heaven's Audventure hi. I am also studying CPA. But twice I failed my exams. I studied from Wiley. Did you give any exam yet? Can you suggest me how to study that? I m frustrated.

    • @HeavensAudventure
      @HeavensAudventure 6 років тому

      Gaurav Gupta unfortunately, I failed my first exam and am still waiting to hear back about the retake so I may need advice myself! I will say, I’m using Becker and absolutely love it but the price is definitely up there so I understand why people scope out other options. Did you start with taking FAR?

    • @GauravGupta-fc1rf
      @GauravGupta-fc1rf 6 років тому

      Heaven's Audventure not yet. I took BEC and REG. But failed both times. I am struggling in simulations. Sometimes I find difficulty how to attempt the question. I'm also retaking. But this time I'm confused which two subjects should I choose. What you think? I am already working. I find difficulty in studies. Everytime to spend 800$ is also an issue.

    • @HeavensAudventure
      @HeavensAudventure 6 років тому

      Gaurav Gupta the simulations are definitely horrible all around. The only advice I can give on overcoming those is what I’m doing myself - redoing all of them in the study material over and over and over again until you know the answers backwards and forwards. And not because you memorized the answers but because you understand how it was done. I’m about to spend 2 weeks straight of just doing simulations in REG before this exam. Hopefully it pays off

    In your next Q & A or video could you answer this question: what excel skills did you need/use for your job at an insurance company?As I look at available jobs and they request someone to be proficient in Excel, I am wondering how much of an excel guru do they need. Currently researching whether an Excel certification course would be beneficial for me to take while I finish up my final 4 classes for my BS in Accounting. Thank you in advance!!

    You make an excellent point about needing some support during this process. I can feel a big difference between the support I get from my significant other and the support I get from my immediate family. My boyfriend sees me every day, sees how much effort I'm putting into studying and understands that's what it takes. I feel like my family doesn't really get it and thinks I bail on family gatherings for no reason, so that's really hard.
    Also, something that worked for me with FAR was spending the week or two prior to the exam reviewing instead of doing it after every chapter. Since there's so much information in FAR, it was really easy for me to forget material from the chapters in the beginning so I made sure to go back through all the questions and simulations right before the exam and it worked! Keep going, you're doing great so far!

    • @SaraMarie
      @SaraMarie  6 років тому

      Most people definitely don’t get it but it is nice that Jason somewhat gets the time commitment. I do have 2 weeks or so built into my time line for review at the end so that will definitely be my big review time. I just want to stay somewhat reviewed during the process so the end is easier if that makes sense. So far I haven’t had a ton of extra time so we’ll see

    You got this!! I totally believe you can do it and pass! My mom worked full time, took care of my sister and I, and also studied for the CPA at the same time. It took her a few tries to finally pass it but I think the end result was worth it. I was older than Maci when my mom studied and passed but it showed me what hard work is and what you can achieve when you put your mind to something. Because of that, I am an accounting major and planning to take the CPA in a few years.

    My uncle who is a CPA now was working full time, was trying to take care of one newborn and another toddler, would have to leave the house at late hours of the night to go to the library to study, and he was able to pass the CPA Exam! Also, he was using the Becker review course as well, and he was in an internship that wasn't paying him any money, but he was getting his experience under a CPA. You can do this girl, I know it may be overwhelming, and I know that when I start studying it will be overwhelming for me too, but once you pass it will be SO WORTH IT. Love you, I'm praying for you that you succeed and pass the exam, and I can't wait for your future videos!
    Also, I am trying to start budgeting and once I finish this video, I will be watching your budgeting series and start learning how to do so. Thanks for being so inspiring for me to get my shit together and try and be better with my finances and motivating me for the CPA exam!

    Humble Suggestion: Lots of potential students want to do CPA but they lack the basic knowledge as well as direction with re to application process which in itself is a separate story... min credit hrs, degree evaluation etc. I would honestly suggest to make a video on these processes since you have the ability to explain and explain very well and keep your audience listen till the end.
    I'm a CPA myself and can give the helicopter view of the above but unable to discuss the nuts and bolts of the process which I believe you're well equipped to do. Keep up the good work Sara.

    Is there a reason why you chose Becker cpa review and not the other reviews?

    • @SaraMarie
      @SaraMarie  6 років тому

      Samuel Achonu that’s a great question and one that I get a lot. During my bachelors degree, my school really pushed Becker as a good choice. Many of my classmates then went on to pass the CPA on the first try. I just figured since we all leaned the same material, and it worked for them, hopefully it’ll work for me. I also really liked the setup of Becker. I looked into other reviews such as Surgent and ultimately decided Becker would work best for my schedule and study habits.

    I'm doing REG at the moment with Becker and its so hard to keep the pace going. I'm not sure if im doing this right, but i end up taking a day break from studying because i tend to not keep info in if im forcing it.
    I work form 9:00-6:00pm and then study from 6:00pm-9:00pm at work. I wish i could study in a different area so that i can get some sort of break from work. Home is too many distractions, public library is too loud as well. Any thoughts?

      I totally get what you mean about needing breaks. Unfortunately taking days at a time really doesn’t fit with my timeline. I’m not super familiar with non us accounting. I would look into specific rules or requirements to make sure you have everything you need to test

    I started my CPA(AUD) review around the same time as you. I feel really unmotivated and uncomfortable with what I learn right now. I am not sure do l really learn anything. It is So frustrated! Would you please share with us how you motivate yourself? Also, may I ask you a question about how to apply for CPA exam? If I want to get CA's CPA license, but I need to take my exams in another state. Should I apply to California board of accountancy or another state's board of accountancy?

      Honestly, some days I feel the same! I definitely plan to make a video about staying motivated. As for which state to apply to, I've always heard to apply in the state that you plan to work in. I'm not sure if it matters which state you actually take the exams. Hopefully that makes sense.

    My daughter is studying for a test..she works for cpa wealth management and she is trying to plan her wedding. She is so stressed she cries all the time and is hard to live with. She is more worried about failing her test which she takes in the next three months. She is also looking for a place to live and it so crazy around this house. I hope you do well.

      That's too bad! I definitely can relate to the stress! And I couldn't imagine doing that and planning a wedding!
