The first large order of Thompsons was placed by the Irish Republican Army in 1921. Approximately 500 were supplied with many seized by customs authorities in New York prior to shipment. Those that got through were used in the final weeks of the War of independence and subsequently in the Irish Civil War. Google 'The Tommy Gun in Ireland ' to see relevant academic papers on the subject. Very good presentation, looking forward to many more. 👍
The Thompson was maybe the most used weapon by multiple nations it was used by the US China UK Canada Netherlands Soviet Union and more I think the only weapons that maybe could have been used more by multiple nations is the Browning HI power and MP-28
Given how Thompson submachineguns had cost more than $3,000 (inflation) each throughout the 20's and 30's, is really no surprise that only members of organised crime could afford them whether or not they bothered with the $3,000 (inflation) in tax (National Firearms Act)
Here before this channel blows up, good videos man.
Thanks, hopefully the channel keeps growing, but I just enjoy making these videos. Nice knowing others enjoy them too
