+keysersoze Switched off the TV while half the team was out and Sachin was still batting? Then you probably missed half the matches India played in the 90s.
@narsimha saraswathi Read autobiographies (not interviews and misquoted press statements) of McGrath, Warne, Ponting, Langer, Hayden, SWaugh, Gilchrist, Kallis, Donald, Murali... Any player from any country except India and West Indies (to remove national bias) - and see how many rate Lara higher than Sachin. Then once you understand that Sachin is not rated above Lara even among his own peers, you can ponder about whether he is the best across eras.
His straight drives were epic.. Allan Donald was one of the most fearsome bowlers during that period.. but Sachin looked unfazed by the white lightning, when he was at his best.. that's the sign of the best batsman in the world.. that is.. even making the best bowler in the world, as if, he is an ordinary bowler..!! love you sachin..
You don't get to watch such thrilling batting by any Indian batsman in Test cricket today...Virat Kohli is not so exiting to watch in 5 day cricket and he can never exude such class and quality in his strokes
Franz Styles Kohli doesn't drive the ball. He punches it. Kohli is more of an athlete. Sachin was just a pure trained batsman, like he was born to bat. The way he drives, cuts, flicks everything. Kohli doesnt cut the ball, he doesn't flick or drive either. He punches, his shots to mid wicket is because he plays with a grip which favours leg side. So he is an effective batsman, not a natural batsman. Also, the way he acts on the field, I don't like. Insulting towards opposition, is like a kid. "I am not going to be friends with Aussies". Like anyone gives a fuck if you wanna be friends with them or not.. It's a game, play it to enjoy it and respect the game I have seen Kohli swear at umpires, point fingers at umpires. Sachin would never. When you are a role model to kids, a lot more matters than just winning. This is where Sachin won and he will remain the best batsman ever. Kohli not even in top 10 list.
Virat Kohli is very limited in terms of strokeplay. I have hardly seen him play a good backfoot shot. But he is so strong mentally. That makes him one of the best. If we are talking about quality of strokeplay Sachin is miles ahead of most of the players.
His attacking quality, rocksolid defence, innovation of shots, great technic, and humble nature set him apart from any other batsman. Undoubtedly d mot charismatic and elegant batsman. His consistency is also is unparalleled.
abcd1235911 ... what kapil paaji said about sachin was true ,, he shud hav made 200 n 300+ runs ... that would help team also ,, most of d times he was satisfied with 100 ...
abcd1235911 What? Laxman, Sehwag & Dravid were his teammates. Ganguly was also a decent batsman. Only in his initial phase he had a bad team(i.e. from 1996-2001, before that he was not that good). Once Ganguly, Kumble & Dhoni were captains he was a completely free batsman to express his talent. On the contrary he won very few tests on his own when he had freedom to play to his potential. He was the greatest oneday opening batsman but when it comes to tests, I think Dravid, Sehwag & Laxman were bigger contributors to Indian victories or match savings. Although he came at no 4 which made it difficult for him to score double or triple tons bit he seldom formed partnerships with tailenders to guide India to great wins.
Sachin is a genius and a master but he didn't know the technique to bat with the tail. Remember 2008 Australia series. Ishant Sharma facing 5 deliveries in an over with Sachin on the non striker's end. Dhoni is the master of this art of batting with the tail. Virat also batted excellent in the first test in England tour 2018.
Actually some issue Happened with Azhar and SIdhu he was out of this series so we didnt have proper top order , so it put Huge pressure on the middle order top order kept losing wickets cheaply !!!
Watched this live, I Still recall that catch of Tendulkar by Adam Bacher, Unbelievable and it's right in front of my eyes and fresh in my mind. My jaws dropped in dismay when that happened.
1980 kids comper Sachin vs Vv Richards, 1990 kids comper Sachin vs Lara, 2000 kids comper Sachin vs Ponting, 2010 kids comper Sachin vs Kohli and now carona kids also compare Sachin vs Gill. Last 5 era only one name in list, that is God of World cricket Sachin Tendulkar. Sachin........ Sachin........
Every now and then i keep coming back to watch this inning of his. I mean forget the stats and don't get into the numbers, just watch his batting and observe it just the way you observe art. Every time he hits the ball- his balance, his steady head, his timing, the straight bat- i can't think of anyone who can match the purity of shot that he creates.
I'm surprised Indian-Batters managed 33 runs before The Master came in to bat. The attack was lethal - Donald, Pollock, McMillan and Klusner (all at their prime)! It was bound to be 100 and 66 all out! The graphics on Star Sports for this series were beautiful!
This will always stay on to be the best batting partnership I've ever seen in my lifetime against probably one of the best bowling line ups of all times.... A perfectly technical masterclass from Sachin on one end, a pure work of artistry from Md. Azharuddin on the other end...it summed up one of my most memorable evening of watching cricket ...no T20 slambang of these days can bring back this beautiful feeling of test cricket batting at his absolute best...there were boundaries flowing everywhere, SA bowlers like Donald, Pollock , McMillan and Klusener looked hapless and all pure and perfectly batting masterclass
You are absolutely right bro. it was sheer treat to watch while these two magician was on their best. It was a counter attack by Sachin Tendulkar and Mohammad Azharuddin. South African bowlers were looking absolutely helpless. Thank you Sachin and Azhar Bhai for entertaining all of you through your magical betting. ❤️👍👌👋🙏
An innings for the ages. If I have to pick up Tendulkar's top five centuries, they would be: 5. 114 vs Australia, Perth, 1991 - Although Merv Hughes - McDermott-Whitney combo is no Lillee-Thomson, still, they made a pretty formidable pair, particularly in that series, with Whitney having a terrific record in Australia, it was the Perth of yore, and Tendulkar was only 18. 4. 119 vs England, Manchester, 1990 - 4th innings match saving century, even though the bowling attack is no West Indies quartet level, a 4th innings match saving ton in damp conditions at the age of 16, deserves it. 3. 136 vs Pakistan, Chennai, 1998. - Akram, Younis, and a lethal Saqlain Mushtaq in a series where he was running rampant with 4 fifers in the series. Combined with a nasty back problem which halted this innings 20 runs shy of victory, this is easily his most poignant innings ever. Moin Khan later commented that the way Tendulkar tackled Saqlain was the highest quality of batsmanship he had seen from behind the stumps. 9 batsmen scored in single digits in that innings. 2. This innings. India at a precarious position, 5 wickets down for 57 - against Donald, Pollock and McMillan on a bouncy pitch of Capetown. The innings is so high up in this list because it was a terrific attacking innings, which nearly stole the thunder from the opposition. Not to mention that sublime cover drive off Donald to reach 150... :) 1. 116 vs Australia, Melbourne, 1999. A test series, where barring the last innings 167 by Laxman, the entire Indian batting lineup routinely crumbled against a bowling attack of Mcgrath, a young rampaging Brett Lee, lethal Warne, and swinging Fleming on the express grassy tracks of Australia. Only Tendulkar battled them consistently, best of which was this one. :) Innings which are good but not in this league: 1. 103* vs England, 4th innings, 2008 - Good, but on a flat Indian track, and mediocre bowling attack, and supported by all batsmen, particularly Sehwag. 2. 111 Vs South Africa, 1992. Great innings, spectacular, but only one world class bowler in the opposition - Donald. 3. 122 vs England, Birmingham, 1996. 6 batsmen scored in single digits, second highest score being 18, at one stage score was 68/5 and an innings defeat looming large. 122 out of team total of 219, in third innings. Outstanding, but mediocre bowling attack is the problem. 4. 155 vs South Africa, Bloemfontein, 2001. Destructive innings. But no Donald. Pollock-Ntini is not a sufficiently outstanding pair for this list. 5. 111 Vs South Africa, 2010. 3rd innings century under pressure, but Morkel or Tsotsobe are not great bowlers, just Steyn cannot warrant the inclusion of this innings in this elite list. 6. 153, 154 against Australia in 2007-08. Good centuries, but only Brett Lee, that too, a pale shadow of his 1999 form. 7. 160 against NZ. Less than mediocre opposition bowling attack. 8. 155, 177 against Warne, 1998. Paradigm shifting plus match winning innings, which destroyed the enigma of Warne. However, no Mcgrath, Lee, or even Gillespie. Gavin Robertson and Kasprowicz, that too on Indian tracks, sorry, not worthy of the top 5 list.
i vividly remember watching this post lunch session batting of the highest quality..both Sachin and Azhar in that murderous mood against one of the top quality pace attacks...who cares about results when you get to see an innings of this quality
Sachin's body--language is glorious, extreme timing, conventioal classy eye-view as egale ,, best pace--conqueror ever than other indian batsman like gavaskr, dravid, kohli, rohit sharmma
1:59 "It may not carry all the way to the fence ... and it will." :D :D novel usage of 'and' to conjoin two clauses in complete opposition to each other! He has a smooth voice though..
@Gowri Shankar U.V In T20, sachin became the first indian and right hand batsman to win an orange cap in IPL(at the age of 37). In ODI, compare the record of 1994-2003 Sachin, where he scored 34 century with average of more than 48 in bowling dominated area, and where the rules were not batting friendly. Where even score of 250 was defendable.
Have a look at the celebration of the master blaster on reaching to 100 and 150 against the dangerous bowling attack. Very simple. Truly a legend born specially for cricket.
To those who compare his records with others , this guy took the burden of the entire team on him for many years.. ganguly David joined him in 97 98 and after that he started getting some support from his teammates which later made Indian team victorious in many occasions
Sachin has been the single player of hope to every Indian cricket fan in the 90's and I have been one of the people who switched their TV's off when Sachin got out ....
Test or ODI...4/30 or 0/100 if he wanted to scored off a ball he'd have scored there was absolutely no backing down... playing 200 tests since '89, a career that spanned generations while averaging 53 with a decent strike rate is not a joke...had 17 centuries in 60 games avg over 50 in SENA countries 15 of them against Aus SA Eng, i don't think today's generation understands the audacity of that stat..he started against Imran Ambrose Walsh Qadir carried on against Akram Waqar Donald McGrath Bond Lee Akhtar Warne Muralidharan for most of his career, every one of those bowlers are certified legends of the game...u see any list of achievements there names are there and Sachin came out on top of them 8/10 times, if you compare this player to mere kings and queens of flat decks you just haven't watched enough cricket.
Wow, what an innings.. I really would like to compare this innings to the 150+ scored by Kohli in 2nd test of 2018 recently. So much of similarities, just the way they got got out as 9 wickets fell down, the way they got to centuries, 150, etc.. Really superb innings by both. But if u look at Sachin’s innings, the outfield looks slow, pitch so deadlier, test cricket was so much a bowlers game back then, Sachin was exceptionally good, dedicated. Kohli is no less, such a great disciple and he definitely is trying to fill Sachin’s shoes, which is not an easy thing to do. U need something extraordinary to match even 50% of Sachin’s class. I think Kohli is definitely up there with his dedication.. I really wish I could be as dedicated as these 2 men in whatever I do. Hats off to these 2 for taking India's name on the global platform.
Karki. S common mate.. I understand, even I'm a super hard fan of Sachin who almost quit watching cricket when he retired. I don't follow cricket closely now, but Kohli is definitely up there. Sachin played the best out of the best. Sachin would be remembered for the aura he created, no doubt at all. Of course there r other great legends too. But don't take away anything from Kohli, he really deserves the credit for his hard work. I remember the time, when they felt this young brat was not good enough and has lot of attitude, there were calls for him to be dropped. But he has stood up and trying to reach up to Sachin. I get so disappointed when he breaks Sachin’s small records, but have now learnt to live with it. Kohli's 150 also came against a good attack. And also how ever weak the Bowling attack is, still it's not easy to score runs on consistent basis. If it was easy, batters around him from all over the world would've scored too, but that's not happening.. That shows, his dedication.
Magnanimous batting by Tendulkar, a great catch by Adam bacher. I still remember this match. Azar scored a ton quickly😍😍. Thanks for uploading the match
From 33-5 putting the total to 359 absolutely genius work this Knock of master clearly shows the determination, courage and passion carrying the full pressure and the team on himself over the decades that's SRT for you 🐐🇮🇳🔥❤️💯
U looked at his batting & realized....that he had so much time compared to other batsman in terms of picking the length...how quickly he got to his back foot for anything short...how easily he leaned into the drives...and how he presented a straight bat to full deliveries into him to hit the straight drives...both on & off...not easy when the bowl is moving both ways...I dont see him forcing at a ball...he will always be a special talent...Sachin of the 90s was on a different level of cricket...I think even Sachin would agree with me that he was better as a batsman in the 90s than later on the 2000s due to age & the injuries
Almost 16000 runs at legit average of around 50 per innings and over 50 centuries. The greatest test batsman ever. And over 18000 runs at legit average of 41 runs per innings with close to 50 centuries. The greatest ODI batsman ever. Combined, his entire international record is not just astounding, but simply unparallel in my opinion.
Again Sachin did same kind of recovery during 2001 when India were 5 down for 54 Runs , What an innings this one Amazing drives !! People can say he doesn't plays during need this that but I bet Any batsman whom they can mention never can play such a knock sadly blame the team those days Bad Bowlers and Bad supporting Batsman !!! @Ajay Chanda Sachin playing at sloppy rates??? Where??? He has played at a decent rate throughout his career!!!
Oh my god.... Look at those shots... It's always pleasure to watch his batting and that too against such a good bowling team... No doubt, he is the world best batman in all generations
The lone battler... Extraordinary player in an average team in the 90s
I switched off the television when it was 70/5 something. Then after few hrs shocked to see sachin and azhar hammering SA. What a good catch to get rid off sachin.
+keysersoze Switched off the TV while half the team was out and Sachin was still batting? Then you probably missed half the matches India played in the 90s.
Ur indirectly saying that those 5 batsmen were more important for u, than sachin 😂😂😂😂
@@SaMSaM-444 🤣🤣🤣🤣
That was the most foolish thing to do
U jst watch sachin's batting... Nd u ll very quickly realise tht u r looing at best in d world.... A true legend.. Incredible batsman...!!!
He is two levels above any batsman in the history of cricket...🙌🏻🙌🏻🙌🏻
Only an Indian fan would say so.
@@fjasdfjdsakfjalfsjdalksfakjlk no its a fact sachin tendulkar is the best ever batsman in history of 150 years of cricket

Truth..Kohli is not an artist. Sachin undoubtedly was. Purists delight, common man delight. Born to be a batsman.
@@e-commastery1192 spot on
Sachin is Federer of cricket or Federer is Sachin of tennis....both ways I'll say.....
Virat Kohli is very limited in terms of strokeplay. I have hardly seen him play a good backfoot shot. But he is so strong mentally. That makes him one of the best. If we are talking about quality of strokeplay Sachin is miles ahead of most of the players.
There are so many famous cricketers but Sachin made cricket famous...
God Of Cricket...
His attacking quality, rocksolid defence, innovation of shots, great technic, and humble nature set him apart from any other batsman. Undoubtedly d mot charismatic and elegant batsman. His consistency is also is unparalleled.
Master Blaster is making Donald look like a CLUB LEVEL bowler 🙏
How unlucky Tendulkar was to get a waste team like this!! Had he been in the Australian team he would have scored more than 20000 runs in his career!!
abcd1235911 ... what kapil paaji said about sachin was true ,, he shud hav made 200 n 300+ runs ... that would help team also ,, most of d times he was satisfied with 100 ...
sankar uit ....bro David at no3 followed by tendulkar at 4 ....a great treat to watch
vishwa karan u could say that about Rahul Dravid also. Even about Ricky ponting
abcd1235911 What?
Indian score 4/33...Then, God arrives to the rescue
The innings which made Bradman try and save his legacy by claiming Tendulkar as closest batsman to him.
This was the time, when Sachin was truly at the top of his game.. Physically too at his best..
You are right tendulkar was a great player
Actually some issue Happened with Azhar and SIdhu he was out of this series so we didnt have proper top order , so it put Huge pressure on the middle order top order kept losing wickets cheaply !!!
so much maturity at the age of 24.
Watched this live, I Still recall that catch of Tendulkar by Adam Bacher, Unbelievable and it's right in front of my eyes and fresh in my mind. My jaws dropped in dismay when that happened.
SACHIN TENDULKAR - easily the greatest ever..!!
TRUTH
This innings is simply the most beautiful bouquet. Youn can watch it time and again and won't get tired of it.
just wonder why star sports never showed this despite owning the rights for such a marvel
They don't own it. CSA does. They just own to telecast it
Damn he got a 100 in just 138 balls. You champion ❤

This is the most beautiful innings of all time.
He is the purest of the purest ever. Such an art. Lara, Poting fangirls can cry all they want.
@@Aman-nk5uq right. They invent every excuse possible to oppose Sachin fans but lame excuses cant stand.

Greatest innings, worst commentary ever, imagine this with Greig, Lawrie and Chappell

Mohinder Amarnath 😬😬
Also Mark Nicholas... love the way he talks about Sachin in astonishment
On drive is the toughest shot to play against fast balling ...
Sachin: Hold my beer ...
I'm surprised Indian-Batters managed 33 runs before The Master came in to bat. The attack was lethal - Donald, Pollock, McMillan and Klusner (all at their prime)! It was bound to be 100 and 66 all out! The graphics on Star Sports for this series were beautiful!
sir Sachin k liye mere paas words nahin hain.
Shi mei..words nhi hai.
Words kahan gye fir?
I still remeMber the match was LOST even after such a great innings....What a spectacular catch by adam bacher to get the genius
❤️👍👌👋🙏
Baaki log ka mutter chil rahe thee kya sachin ne team ko kaha tak pahucha diya akele koi toh saath De deta uska 😟😟😟😢😖
Exactly :(
in terms of stroke play this was his best inning , against a 5 bowler strong attack
An innings for the ages. If I have to pick up Tendulkar's top five centuries, they would be:
5. 114 vs Australia, Perth, 1991 - Although Merv Hughes - McDermott-Whitney combo is no Lillee-Thomson, still, they made a pretty formidable pair, particularly in that series, with Whitney having a terrific record in Australia, it was the Perth of yore, and Tendulkar was only 18.
4. 119 vs England, Manchester, 1990 - 4th innings match saving century, even though the bowling attack is no West Indies quartet level, a 4th innings match saving ton in damp conditions at the age of 16, deserves it.
3. 136 vs Pakistan, Chennai, 1998.
1. 116 vs Australia, Melbourne, 1999. :)
Innings which are good but not in this league:
1. 103* vs England, 4th innings, 2008 - Good, but on a flat Indian track, and mediocre bowling attack, and supported by all batsmen, particularly Sehwag.
2. 111 Vs South Africa, 1992.
+Kaustav Mukherjee For me 136 vs Pak will top the chart as he was in great pain during his inning..
kuls43 Can't argue. All these innings are of the highest quality, can be easily interchanged.. :)
***** very true. :)
+Kaustav Mukherjee 146 vs sa 2010 capetown. Equally good against Steyn, Morkell
Anirudh Krishnan I won't object. It was a stupendous innings, in particular, how he faced Steyn was sheer class.
i vividly remember watching this post lunch session batting of the highest quality..both Sachin and Azhar in that murderous mood against one of the top quality pace attacks...who cares about results when you get to see an innings of this quality
that's master class 4 u..conditions never matter for a great player...dominating performance in SA...virat is not even 1/4 Sachin
He used to go for the pull shot without hesitation ...f***in injuries
The Strokes played in this innings by Sachin are unparalled to what any other batsman can play
Marvellous innings Sachin. Much has been said about the catch. But for me sachins batting steals the show..not that catch.
I had seen the partnership and also the entire inning of Sachin Tendulkar. It is extraordinary, outstanding brilliant.
Why I remember this knock is Adam Bacher's catch !
Look at that elbow when he drives.
Great bowlers like Donald, Shaun Pollock on bowling friendly pitch gets hammering from the Sachin
My favorite Sachin century. I always say he had the greatest range of shots and this 100 showcases that.
saw Paul Adams after a long time... we tried to bowl like him... his action was fun 😀😉
Sachin has played most number of straight drives in this innings in his entire career in a single test innings
Sachin's body--language is glorious, extreme timing, conventioal classy eye-view as egale ,, best pace--conqueror ever than other indian batsman like gavaskr, dravid, kohli, rohit sharmma
The only thing that can put Sachin's knock to a shadow is Charu Sharma's horrible commentary..!!
Watched this on mute.. PURE GOLD!!!!
1:59 "It may not carry all the way to the fence ... and it will." :D :D novel usage of 'and' to conjoin two clauses in complete opposition to each other! He has a smooth voice though..
🤣🤣🤣
very unfortunate dismissal, because Tendulkar was really taking the game away from the opposition, bad luck.
Sachin doesnt hav much luck in his entire career ... He always depend on his hardwork ..
Sachin is much better than Kohli.
Feeling peace to watch him The great Sachin R Tendulkar. 🙏
Have a look at the celebration of the master blaster on reaching to 100 and 150 against the dangerous bowling attack. Very simple. Truly a legend born specially for cricket.
One Word - "Poetry"
To those who compare his records with others , this guy took the burden of the entire team on him for many years.. ganguly David joined him in 97 98 and after that he started getting some support from his teammates which later made Indian team victorious in many occasions
Dravid consistenly played only drom 2002.
Aman dravid was nothing in front of master and greatest ever batsman sachin tendulkar
Sachin has been the single player of hope to every Indian cricket fan in the 90's and I have been one of the people who switched their TV's off when Sachin got out ....
89 dislikes born to Steve bucknor
A new word is needed to define Sachin Tendulkar performance, hats off little master, certainly the great master for young upcoming indian bastmen
Sharath Nb agreed
Kohli won't survive ten ball against this attack
No comparison mate . Sachin is supreme ,class is decided by the attack against which you score .
You committed blasphemy comparing this knock with Kohli's. Just tune to @10:47
Magnanimous batting by Tendulkar, a great catch by Adam bacher. I still remember this match. Azar scored a ton quickly😍😍. Thanks for uploading the match
The entire stadium is full and packed, where are these, these days ?!
From 33-5 putting the total to 359 absolutely genius work this Knock of master clearly shows the determination, courage and passion carrying the full pressure and the team on himself over the decades that's SRT for you 🐐🇮🇳🔥❤️💯

Best cover drive ever. Period. I can die for it.
If anybody still remembers Adam Bacher it’s just because of Tendulkar’s catch .
sachin in god-mode
such was d life n wll remain .he didnt win many bcoz when he played innings like this no bdy contributed
Came here after watching India lose to South Africa, someone needed to play this kind of inning!
seftest kohli did but at the end of the day we lost the series
138 ball 100 run...test match....pressure situatin,4 wkt down when score is below 50...great sachin.india ko disa de dia a master...
Pure Gold !
Had he retired after 177 test he was avg 58 in test that time...
That's a tad bit unfair. He was brilliant in this game. Scored a brilliant 115 from 90 balls if I remember it right.
sir Sachin k liye mere paas words nahin hain.
It was a damn great catch by Adam ...otherwise sachin may hav finishd 250 not out..
What a stress removal straight drive does sachin have!!!!!
I felt Sidhu in this series would have made difference for India !!! Bad top order really !!
I wasn't able to decide were the crowd was cheering for such a CLASSY inning or for the catch? Thanks to commentator and continiuas cheer I was happy at last. Otherwise I was wishing that the show must keep going. What a inning...😂
