I was born in '85. A lot of these games define my current taste in gaming and I just finished a replay of Chrono Trigger. It is really cool to see younger folk get the same enjoyment out of these gems that I did in my youth. It can be hard to tell at times if I simply love these games because of nostalgia, or if they truly are great, so it is fun for me to see a younger generation respond to them in a way that suggests that there is something to the stories, gameplay, and charm of the 90's era JRPG that stands the test of time. I have watched several of your other videos and greatly enjoyed your (entirely theoretical if the FBI is reading this thread) content about pirating. Keep up the great work.
Ive been loving your videos man. I love JRPGs so much but I find fantasy setting hard to get into : ( This video has convinced me to give them another shot though!
As someone wary of nostalgia around classic games, I played FF6 and Chrono Trigger for the first time in 2023 and those are absolute 10/10 games. Actual art.

Also for Lunar Silver Star Story, I just thought it would be funnier not to give it a ranking out of 10 because of how forgettable it was. I almost forgot to put it on this list.
I was born in the early to mid 90s so I have some memories of the later part of the decade. The clothing really was the way it's depicted. The thing I'm really curious about is if people were generally happier back then? It seems like everything was pretty much great until 2001. Then when the "war" started everything went downhill. Not sure if this is because it truly was a better time, or that I was gaining more self-awareness and beginning to fully understand the true horror of life
Really, really weird that i saw two videos by two different people with completely different reactions to lunar. the other guy was the polar opposite and liked it
Stop comparing the SaGa franchise to Octopath Traveller, it's the other way around. Makai Toushi SaGa came out in 1989. It was released in North America only 2 months after Final Fantasy 1. More people would understand the comparison the correct way. It was Square's first game to sell a million copies. Stand up comedian Jackie Kashian even had a joke on National TV about Makai Toushi SaGa...has any celebrity made an Octopath Traveller reference?
Road to 1K babyyyyy!!!!!

Glad you enjoy it man. Also I’m actually a fed and you’re getting arrested for watching the piracy video.
Great video! I haven’t heard of most of these, so it’s nice to hear them now, might check them out
You should honestly, has a few no other genre or medium can replicate
That was awesome! I gotta play these sometime, the mana games' art is insane. Also globescape reference 😏
I’ll remake this vid in 2033 and globescape will be #1 on the list
the demo
Great vid! I most certainly watched it all before commenting

They’re hard to get into but once you find that one game, you’ll become addicted.
Thracia 776 isn’t on the list because it’s 1000/10
Lol, i've been meaning to play it for almost a year now, but I got sidetracked by a bunch of other games.
I think you need to play moon: remix rpg adventure.
A few years ago it was probably the most obscure 90s rpg ever made. Now it’s available on steam.
I've heard about that game actually. Looks really good, might get around to checking it out.

@@pixaafterdark9915 it was actually most western peoples fist RPG! yep it was a big deal when it came out for sure
The SNES era really WAS the Golden Age of JRPGs. My absolute favorite underrated gem being Secret of Evermore.
Holy crap yes! I've been wanting to play secret of evermore, but I've had so much on my plate recently lol.

As someone who's been trying to get into 90s RPGs and didn't know where to start, I'm writing these titles down! Great video!
Nice to see someone getting into them. You’ll truly enjoy your time with every single one of these.
Only '90s kids will understand

I know it's an Action RPG but I hope you've played Terranigma. I consider it the best on the SNES but just an opinion!
I wanna play it but I still need to finish seiken densetsu 3
i feel like if they ported g-o-d on modern systems it would be known. because as it stands its very obscure
REMEMBER THE NINETIES??
REMEMBER CHRONO TRIGGER??? IT WAS A GOOD GAME!
the puzzles are the best part of lufia 2 man!!!! come on man!!!! (ok dekar is actually the best thing about lufia 2 but gameplay wise i mean)
Don’t worry this is an old video. I retract that statement lol

Is it possible to have the list of names on a pinned comment?
I like rewatching the video but it'd be easier to look them up to check them that way.
