Really like your take on these figures. A lot of reviews are from the average toy collector or a fan, so it's very refreshing to hear from a actual artist and designer perspective.
12:08 I think the stretches membrane is mostly on CGI version. I remember the animatronic of JP or the scene where buck rex is roaring at sarah in trailers scene from TLW. Or even the scene when greenie rex dead and spino used his hand touched it in JP3. The membrane of those animatronics is actually bends inside a little bit. But not as much as this HC figure. I understand what you want to point it out
16:10 A good example for charper teeth is actually the Transformers Studio Series Grimlock figure (the Age of Extinction one). His teeth are quite pointly but still rubbery, so they don't have a big issue with causing harm.
This's what i think actually. HC rex head is looks more like CGI version. It's different from Animatronic. But i actually prefer the Animatronic version. I think replacement head of marco is good for the people that prefer the Animatronic one. But some people don't mind that because original is accurate to CGI
I mean fair points on the video, however, the membrane folding in on it self, is a trait of the Tyrannosaur, the bucks membrane in the lost world does the same thing so although it may be “unrealistic” it is accurate to the animatronics.

Great review as always! As much as I like the figure I’m a bit disappointed in the quality control, especially in regards to the paintwork. But aside from that it’s really a great Rex!

@@diypropsmodels7064 They are advitised for older collectors but still the teeth are rounded because a kid might have one and even a adult might get hurt
The scale of the main line (I calculated) to be 1/19.2. With that, your normal rex (at 21.5 inches) comes to 34.4ft while this slightly longer tail (at 25 inches) puts it at 40 ft.
I love super in depth videos like this! It was neat hearing your input as a sculptor. I will say, the reason the teeth are still not sharp is because, despite it being an adult collector item, safety regulations don’t really care. In order for a company to market something as a “toy” at retail, it must still fit the safety requirements of a toy made for 3+. If they wanted to avoid these regulations, they would have to mark it as “not a toy, 18+”. It’s a bummer, but that the legalality.
I recently got the sound surge tyrannosaurus Rex and Giganotosaurus figure and they're quite and scaled each other and the downside is that big feet which is a downside for me and on my t-rex figure looks like it has velociraptor eyes
I had a similar problem with the mouth not closing when i got it the mouth didn't even snap open and close like it was supposed to like the joints in the jaws had been worn out and the arm on it was also glued in place the mouth because of the weak joints is now just half way open giving it a derpy look i guess i ended up buying another one and this one does have a good functioning mouth it snaps open and closes like its supposed to and unlike the other one the mouth doesnt gradually start opening every time you open and close it ive been playing with it for a while now and the mouth is still holding up and the joints still click
I don’t like how the torso joint gets very loose right away. I’ve had my T-Rex for about a week and the torso joint just slides down whenever it stands, giving it that constant hunched look.
Can anything be done with the eyes? It's bugging the shit out of me! I have some experience with acrylic paints...I wonder if I can paint over them somehow?

I think the joints will get loose and it will no longer stand correctly and though the jaw muscles look really good, I could see that rubber wearing out overtime (which you indicated similar things already).
