Matchless Model X Start Up Startup Video

This is the first start up of this 1937 Matchless Model X for 60 years. It has just finished a two year restoration. It is totally original and is probably the best example of its type in the world.

Looks like a first start to me. I can see the new paint smoking on the cylinders. I currently own one of these. Not many left in existence. Looks like an accurate restoration. Well done. They are a joy to ride.

Egads! THAT is a gorgeous bike! But where are the billows of smoke? Shouldn't a rebuilt motor on its initial start normally the fog the whole neighborhood like a battleship masking its course?

Thanks for your kind comments. It really was the first time it had been started. Tried before but the timing had slipped so it wouldn't start. I put off starting it for a couple of months just in case something disastrous happened when it fired up!! Nick
