My hope is that this offers a secondary revenue source for xiv, so it can go towards dev cost and make the main game better. Yknow. Eggs in multiple baskets and all .
I was thinking the same. I'm not sure what incentive, if any would make me want to play this. Maybe if my WoL could be ported, but I've already got so many hours into XIV, I'm not I want to play 2 different versions in 2 different places.
Don't wish luck for a historically scamm-y side of the company, just because you're biased. This is a death Knell if you haven't noticed... they just lost hundreds of millions in market capital, AGAIN!
Nice! I’ll definitely be there. I figure this will basically be a form of what we already have with the trial version. I expect monetization to be something like paying for inventory space, Gil caps etc. I like the idea of learning from each other. I’ve played other games where QOL from one helped influence the other (and vice versa) It’s not going to replace my main. But it’ll be neat for being stuck places.
Not sure how “convincing a new player overwhelmed by starting the game on pc or console” is improved by playing on a phone…. After all, there IS a free trial. I dunno why companies think a triple A game will do well on mobile…
Nah the account creation and buying game version, as well as subbing was and is really bad. Thats the overwhelmed I see. Though both are separate stuff so not sure whether some players retire from the pc to the mobile, or mobile trying the pc ver as its not exactly cross play like genshin etc other games.
A lot of people in Asia do their gaming on phones. I would have played it if they had the sense to do the 1.0 story instead of ARR. But they didnt have the sense so I pass.
The only issue is they didn't show gameplay. Showing cutscenes and/or just a cinematic trailer can be extremely misleading. Gameplay must be shown for everyone to understand how the game functions and if the gameplay style is to their liking. I lose interest in a game if their trailer doesn't show gameplay. I've been burned before. Has extremely amazing animated cinematic, gets me hyped for game, buys game, game turns out to be a boring RTS. Yeah not going through that again. Communicate how the game will play by showing gameplay footage in your trailer or no one will be interested.
I hope you get paid for this commercial. Mobile FF14, what a joke. 20 rows of buttons on the phone screen. What the hell do you think this game will look like. At least your script is praise after praise... This video ruined all the trust I had in you!
Bruh what. They confirmed the game would be simpler to play and bosses have mechanics that are easier for a phone user. It definitely won't be 20 buttons and i am guessing 5 buttons max that does your rotation automatically.
I mean, those are my opinions. I have faith in Yoshi P and his team to oversee this project. I voiced my concerns about video games being turned into cash grabs in the video and ultimately my hope is that that oversight is strict and meaningful to make a good game. Did you want me to lie and say im not excited to see more? I judge a video game when its in my hand, when i can see for sure what it plays like. If i don't like it, i won't play it. All we can do is look at the info we have, which is not much so far tbh. As for trust in me? I think it's just opinions not lining up with your own, which is totally fine and reasonable. Always trust your own instints and impressions, don't trust in content creators to do that for you.
@Meoni1 I watch all your videos. They are good and on point. This one is scripted so heavily on mobile game praise. Everyone can feel it is written by a commercial expert. The words in this video feel like they're not your own. For me it is paid from the developers. Mobile games are cash grab crap. And you can't stop saying how cool it will be. Like Diablo Immortal maybe? My opinion has nothing to do with the issue, just after this video I will have to take future videos on the channel with a grain of salt...
@@Meoni1 Don't worry about him don't let him get into your feelings. You doing great. He's just one of those people you would see on the internet that just has nothing to do, so they go say random stuff like that on the internet. Keep it up meoni! Best FFXIV youtuber.
I'll check this out, but it'll live or die depending on the details of the monetization. And just to be sure, a monetization scheme that is acceptable to the Chinese playerbase, the primary target audience, will not necessarily be acceptable outside of Asia. But that's fine because I don't really think this game is being made for me.
What im wondering is if there's any rewards we can get in real XIV for playing this. We just got graphics update but they want me to play on phone graphics now? Idk how my phone would handle this, but the performance will definitely not be as good as pc/ps5 obviously. If i am paying sub on real XIV why would i want to play a worse version of the game? As someone who leveled alts, starting at ARR again isn't very exciting 😂 plus action games are difficult for me on mobile controls lol
"It's not gacha" Well the other two games the studio have made are monetized by battlepasses and p2w, so I can't imagine them NOT littering the app with micro-transactions and pay-for-convenience features.
I understand why it's smart to go after the phone market, but i'm not in that audience. 😅 I'll watch streamers play it and keep working on my single-player games for now.
thanks for the video, but honestly, I don't believe the game is for me. and I can't really tell from the video who exactly they believe the consumer base would even be? I wish them luck, but SE don't have the best track record with mobile games
Eh, this seems like a blatant cash grab. While I encourage more people to play, this kind of classic server stuff needs to be on Console and PC first. Mobile is just not suited for this stuff. Also given the wide variety of phone types and hardware variety that fall well behind even some low budget PCs color me skeptical. I hope it does well and this means even PC and console players can look forward to classic servers in the future.
A lot of gaming phones rn are more powerful than the ps4 was when arr launched. I think this is a good opportunity, I just fear it blows up and SE ends up wanting to implement mobile monetization on pc
If it's like FF: Brave Exvius, there's an energy system. You can only do so much content before you run out of energy and it takes a while to replenish! Or you can pay to skip the waiting! The earlier years of the game, particularly if you were new and had little energy to use; really enticed players to spend. But that was a gotcha game, with a huge unit pool and weekly updates. Comparing to a full pc game to that of mobile isn't exactly ideal.
All i want is to be able to cross save and level crafting at work, while hanging out at the FC house with my friends, at work. Thts legit all i want. If u seperate me from my FC then i just wont get it.
I really don't like mobile games. The vast majority of them are predatory and exploitative, not to mention difficult to play on a phone. Lightspeed is owned by Tencent and I don't trust them at all.
This is awful honestly, and explains why the main PC game has been in such a slump because they were devoting so much time, money, and resources to this. Or how they literally admitted they're going to take anything that "works" for the mobile version and implement it into the PC one. Ever had a complaints about how jobs played or the monetization? It's about to get *way* worse. Knowing now where my subscription fee and cash shop purchases were going, I just can't bring myself to keep playing and this is where my journey ends, partway through Stormblood. The fact that some of the FF14-related UA-camrs I watch are actually looking forward to this slop is just... incredibly disappointing honestly, and with my dropping of the main game, I'm not sure I'll be coming around to this channel anymore. This is going to bring new people in, but it's going to be at the expense of pushing current players out as it seems we are no longer (or ever were) the target audience, and now I just feel scammed for the almost two years I put into this game.
XIV has been declining since 2020, if you ask me... they decreased their turnout of normal dungeons, their Quests and Story seem very sLOpPy compared to before, and to ME it seems like they're coasting on fan loyalty. It's not a good look.
How is this even going to work. How are you supposed to be dodging mechanics by tapping on a phone? What even is this? Is it actually a separate version of the MMO where you play with people or is it some scaled down single player experience?
@@Grayald I'd guess that this is the kind of mobile game that has on-screen touch controls that work the same as the controller mode in the main game, much like playing Genshin Impact or any emulator.
I mean. We have action games like genshin or wuwa where you can move around freely and dodge. Even with a virtual controller, you can move about as freely as you would with a regular controller. It isnt 2012 anymore.

No gatcha. YET!
Companies love doing this. They get get you invested then they pull the rug under your feet.
No one's forcing you to do gacha lol
Seems really silly to me to not include 1.0 content. At least remixed.

Who's they?
Square Enix!
Square enix stocks dropped so im guessing they need that mobile money now
F2P with no gacha is………… confusing. Are they going to pull a Pokémon Unite and introduce gacha very later?
glam fantasia battle pass
6:15 yea well see about that...
Turn-based combat would be welcomed here imo. Triple triad on hand is a win.
I am so so curious how they adapt this game for mobile. Thank you for this video Meoni!
Probably a single player experience with duty support.
And for $1 you can choose who comes with you.
$10 to unlock ystolla in a bikini.
etc. etc. etc
Not for me, but it's not FOR me. I hope it plays well for those who want this!
Where's the English sub version of the longer interview? Can only find the JP sub one and auto-translate was painful.
It's on the IGN UA-cam Page
I want it now 😢 that way I get to play while at break during work

All they have to do is offer a special mount and minion to claim on your non mobile account if you beat the mobile msq. I would play lol.

Interesting. 🤔 This might become the first mobile game I’ll ever play. 😋
Meoni do you think this is a way to get FFXIV to Switch? Since it is technically a mobile console.
I personally think it might be.
Maybe for the new Switch, rumors say it’s as powerful as a PS4 pro so I don’t see why not
What a waste of time and effort
FF-14 for the Switch 2 confirmed, essentially.

kinda funny how this is in a way XIVs version of WoW Classic
Yeah and it might actually have better low lvl combat since theres footage of stardiver and fell cleave against titan in the trailer
Which iphone anf ipad support this?
Remember when ffxi was going to go mobile? I'll believe this when it launches.
