Hi guys. Very good of you to put up a video showing prices of stuff in KL. Just for everybody's info, groceries are definitely more expensive if you go to supermarkets like mercato. For cheaper prices of the same items, try to go to aeon and lotus. For popular big malls, aeon is located in Midvalley megamall and 1 utama, while lotus (which took over tesco) is at the curve mutiara damansara. You can shop here for items you need to buy less frequently like soap, shampoo, detergents, cereals, cookies etc. Maybe for fresh food like meat and poultry you can stick to the more expensive supermarkets like village grocer, or the food merchant inside pavilion bukit jalil
thanks for the recommendations!
What a lovely travel destination for 2023!💛
And how lovely and fascinating rome is! ❤️ Just touched down, returning from the beautiful historic city 👍😍👏 loved it!
Thanks for sharing this wonderful video n for showing your food explorations in KL.
Thanks! Wish to see more local markets and steetfood, thanks!
I see so many bloggers do street food that it feels like they all make the same video over and over 😂
Thanks for costing and comparison with Thailand 💕💕
Prices are all relative...if you are from Indonesia...it is expensive and if you are from Europe, Western Europe, or Japan it is cheaper and you find that the cost of living in Malaysia is very much affordable.
My favorite city of them all!
*Welcome to Malaysia 🇲🇾Truly Asia Good foods, rainforest good beach & others many More, Enjoyed thanks sharing good videos*
🇲🇾♥️💖❤️🩹💗💗🥰🇲🇾💖❤️🩹💗♥️💝🇲🇾
Great video again, well explained, balanced views and in my opinion you are spot on: You get what you pay for. You can get almost any luxury you wish for, but it means you pay for it. You can eat cheap at the hawker centers and food courts, but you can also go fine dining and pay 3500 ringgit for a romantic dinner at one of the top restaurants in town. But as always, expensive doesn't always mean it ia good and cheap neither means it is good. You need to know where you go. As for shopping at the grocers: You could get fresh vegetables and meat and seafood at the wet markets, they are very affordable. Groceries are ranged form local low cost like TMC, to more luxury and variety at Cold Storage, Village Grocer, BIG, Mercato and if you really have a need for exclusive Japanese Wagyu, go to Isetan.
I am actually looking forward to your video on your apartment, as you mentioned you would review your apartment in a new video?
Yes, apartment tour is next week 😊
So many selection of products we have here in the shops, really good to see, plus i seen Nando's restaurant 😋, thanks another great video, Olga & Renne 🙏🙏👍👍😁😁😁😁📸📸📸📸📸🇮🇪🇮🇪🇮🇪🇮🇪🇮🇪
Thanks for watching!
Nandos are like everywhere in KL, almost everywhere 🤔 7-11 is everywhere
IF U GUYS ARE STILL HERE.
THEN MUST VISIT FOOD COURT OF THE INTERMARK, JUST 5 MIN WALK FROM KLCC NEXT TO AMPANG PARK LRT STATION.
HERE U CAN FIND VERY NICE DISHES JUST BETWEEN RM 15-25. REALLY U WILL LOVE IT.
Very informative. 👍 Do you ever shop at the local outdoor markets? They are normally a lot cheaper and fresher than the western style supermarkets.
Thanks for sharing your video, really enjoyed it ✅
I never been to Malaysia, I would definitely visit there to try the all delicious food 😋
You should!
Glad you guys are having a good time in KL and Malaysia .. Funny but I'm in Antalya !! They miss you both . Lots of Russians here , tons but prices for us Americanos is very affordable . KL is expensive for Asia and between the immigration hassles , prices and the like there are better choices ! Glad you are both doing well . Tomorrow I'm over to Alanya with friends .. Have a great time in Asia .. By the way I had a nice pizza at my Avion Hotel and it was only $6 and delicious ... Love the people here ....
Have a good time in Alanya!
Immigration in Malaysia is getting better now, and a new digital nomad visa has been introduced. if you are youtuber or earning 2,000 $ or more then u can take the benefit of this visa.
very nice
Thank you
*Welcome to Malaysia, Malaysian likes to lepak2 at mamak restaurant drink teh Tarik, You can joining me to or any Msian if you likes , is no problem for Malaysian*
👍
Chocolates is cheap in langkawi and pangkor together with beers and liqours - tax free
So you libe in KL and do your shopping in Pangkor and Langkawi?
❤️
So much yummy food. I am hungry. My price would be higher, I would have a soda to wash it down.
Enjoying your videos. Latte is cheaper in Bangkok? I will find out soon. I plan to visit K.L. next month for 5 days, mainly to research where to rent a condo, and of course try the coffee! I’m now living in Jomtien, 2 hours from Bangkok, but never get cafe latte. So maybe you are right, that a Latte is cheaper in Bangkok. Of course if all I want is cheap coffee, I would go to Indonesia (which I do often).
Good luck with your travels! In the comments under this video some people have good advice on where to search for an apartment in Kuala Lumpur👉
ua-cam.com/video/MCPjk3-aghU/v-deo.html
You should go to local supermarket and hypermarkets like NSK, Tesco, Giant, Mydin. They are way cheaper and you should do a video of them and pay them a visit.
You want cheaper alcohol, chocolates and other imported food..go to Langkawi where you can get lots of duty free goods.
yeah, we know they ar cheaper, thanks for the advice! but we would have to take taxi every time to shop there 😊
For my Chinese New year goodies I went to econ save and kk mart today. I hv no choice as prices in other places is too high for me this year compared to last year.
We have cheaper store or supermarkets for locals with lower income eg
Mydin, kk mart, 99 speed mart, giant, nsk, lotus, sometimes Aeon is OK.
Jaya grocer, village grocer are for Upper income or expats.
For Pizza infos : normally 3 pizza outlet we ( local ) uses to order : 1 ) Pizza Hut . 2) Domino Pizza . 3 ) US pizza . its about the price as local we always compare will promotion given for example Buy one get one free , buy one n next 50 % discount .
thanks for the recommendations!
Hi Olga! Thanks for your videos! Is there a possibility to stay in Malaysia 6 months? Go to Singapore and go back like a run visa?
I don’t think so
Mercato, Ben's and Jaya Grocer is more expensive... locals would buy at Lotus or Giant...
😘😘👍👍
You had the Banana Leaf, very good choice! As for the best pizzas in KL, definitely Nero nero in Damansara DC Mall (bit out in the area of Bangsar and Damansara Heights), delicious authentic Italian pizzas for 35-60 Ringgit. Another great place in a nice Chowkit area is Osteria Gamberoni, owned and managed by two Italians from Rome, Simona the manager and Giuseppe the chef, fabulous Italian food and pizzas for the same price as Nero nero. But it is the best of the best, quality equals Italian food in Italy.
😍😍😍
Have you tried to buy groceries at the wet markets? Aren't they much cheaper for fresh meat, fish and veggies?
Yes, they are usually cheaper. But we didn’t have a wet market that was close enough on foot.
Which city (Kuala Lumpur or Bangkok) easier for expats finding restaurants that offer homeland cuisines with authentic taste?
Both!
I am planning to shift Malaysia ❤. I hope Malaysia treats me well!
I think that you're the one that climbing our skyscraper menara dnb118 that day 😂 sorry for misleading 👈🏼🤓
Go to Yogyakarta......cheapest city in southeast asia....👍👉👍
When you stay longer , you can spend less after you adjust to the lifestyle here.
Hi, u lived in Antalya & now in KL so wts the difference between the 2 cities?
Which one you prefer to live in?
Tnkx
We plan to make a video about it 😊
@@OlgaProGoingPlaces excellent
I live in the United States and the prices you were showing for western foods in the grocery stores like the Lipton tea and other items are actually the same or even cheaper than here in the USA. Inflation here had doubled or tripled the price of our groceries.
Western food is pretty much the same but local foods are very cheap for you as an American. And rent of course is so much more cheaper than the US. So if you as an American choose to live in Kuala Lumpur you probably would say its very cheap. It's cheap for the local people though.
You guy should eat street food
I wonder where u r from. Basically 1 USD would buy so many things.
3 RM= $0.7. And 10RM=$2.30 i am confused
KL is way cheaper than Bangkok. No doubt. US$1 = Baht40 = Rm4.65. From the currency, straight forward you know already. Last time, I living in KL (desa pandan), I only spend rm20 per day ($4.40). - rm9 for food, rm3 for gas (bike), rm8 for room, per day (rm250 per month)..
US$1 is 35.77THB at the moment, I don't ever remember it being 40 thb for 1 usd
Nope...I'm happy in the village...everything is cheap...and I can rear chickens and grow veggies...we have also internet here
In penang you will get good pizza. One western vlogger told me he had to go again for 2nd round.
thanks for the recommendations!
Lol serious? KL is a much bigger and international city and therefore has more good pizza choices.
I am Malaysian and when I see all this foreigners comes to Malaysia and they go to the main city downtown and compare the prices where everything thing will be 3 to 4 times higher than in outskirt ….cost of living in downtown will be always higher in every downtown countries around the world so do go to other places outskirt and do you compare research then you guys can know the difference cox there are so many cheap shopping supermarkets out there for the same thing even the foods as well.
Good to know there are cheaper supermarkets in Kuala Lumpur. However I do say in the video that this one is more on the expensive side. Also the video is made mostly to share our experiences as foreigners in Malaysia, so that other foreigners know what to expect. Because they will also stay in KLCC and will not go to outskirts for grocery shopping, especially on a short trip :)
downtown is much more safe, clean, international and convenient. Transportation is much better.
Where would you recommend to stay in Malaysia for one month in June. Husband and I would like to base ourselves somewhere that we can do day trips to places of interest and get around on a daily basis therefore near public transport. We like to experience the culture of the country as well as the local places to eat not just the tourist locations. Many thanks
I can survive just only RM10 ($2.30) a days in Kuala Lumpur
😰😰😰
I guess roti canai and coffee/tea for breakfast Nasi Bujang air kosong for lunch and some nasi lemak bungkus or snacks or kuih for dinner.
@@talhahabdullah8980 only street food, gerai2 tepi jalan..
Masak kn.. 😛
The tea is more expensive than the English breakfast? Can get normal tea, hope it was not Earl Grey.
in that cafe they did not have cheaper options for tea :)
@@OlgaProGoingPlaces I usually drink warm water and focus more on food.
The Arabic restaurant (I believe this is at Sunway Putra) is tasteless and total ripped off (trust me I went there recently with family of 10). You should go to Bukit Bintang or many areas in KL to get good and affordable Arabic food.
thanks for the recommendation!
lol by street food 7-10 is definitely not the jalan alor depicted in 6:38. That's "food street" for chopping tourist.
good catch! well, that was the footage I had for street food. Only locals actually can tell where it is, looks like you’re a local ;)
What is one room flat rent in Malaysia
I rent room in johor baharu (border with singapore).. price per month only rm200 ($45). This is included water & electricity. This is at ground floor in 5 storey flat housing. Once a week, maid will come to clean the house (not the rooms).. I think in melaka (state) more cheaper than state of Johore. But this price only for local malaysian.. if you foreigner, the price is different.. if you lucky or the landlord likes you, you will get same amount like locals.
@@SyaridzatYahya-mo1rx nice I am not landlord and secondly what about food expensive???
So, KL is expensive for Russians ?
i don't understand if you rented a 900$ condominium then why you have to eat food outside.. your condominium is fully furnished so all you need to do is buy groceries and cook at home that will save you almost 70% of the cost which you are spending on eating outside and my experience says that the restaurants you think are hygienic are actually not so hygienic as they look so the best option is to cook at home its the most hygienic and cheapest way to eat and its healthy too
We don’t have to, but sometimes we want to. I don’t understand why we can’t do both :)
Pizza is not good for you anyway! I am working in the states and consider to retire in Kuala Lumpur.
I thought Rene van Gogh was vegetarian
no, we’re not vegetarian
Гигабайт. 😊 не джигабайт
I think Kuala Lumpur is cheaper than Bangkok.
basically couple needs 3000 usd per month to live well there , rent health etc all covered ....
depends on the lifestyle, I guess. For us it would probably be around that.
Japanese food is only best in Japan. If you see Japanese people eating at a restaurant outside of Japan, it means that restaurant is pretty close to Japanese rice standard (not the same but good enough).///Thailand's fruits are incredible. So many varieties everyday & big harvest, fresh & delicious at the supermarket (although the prices are not cheap but ok for the quality). The Thai Avocado has a huge size version, besides the normal size. The Dragon fruit is huge (white & red flesh). The sweetest & juiciest Star fruit. There are at least 3 types of pineapples, at least 2 types of papayas, at least 4 types of bananas. They import huge grapes & apples & white strawberries from Japan. I don't think I can go back to Turkey which has so little to eat./// The Malaysian supermarket in your video... prices are same as (or similar to) Singapore, expensive.
