Ive just turned 21, about to graduate after 4 years studying business. Creating art has always been my passion. However, 4 years ago, i wasnt brave enough to choose art school cause i didnt believe art can earn me a living. Now i cannot deny how much i love art and i cant work as an employee doing the same robotic stuff day by day. This video really helped me sketch my way of going forward and do what i love. Thank you so much ^^
well, with your studies in business you may have one component on your hands which a lot of artists lack: sense and knowledge for business. When you go to art school, you learn the creative side but not the business side of things. So, having either the one or the other, is a good thing ^^
@@Nonorama definitely, business and marketing are arguably more important than godlike art skills but still, you need substance (skills + personality) to keep people coming
I was in the same position as you. I worked as a project assistant for over two years and i was miserable. But it was that job that made me see that i cannot live doing that all day every day. I was going home and drawing to escape and thinking i would do that all day and all night and not feel bad if it didnt bring me any money. And i felt so stupid for not studying what really was my inclination. I wanted a useful diploma but in the end it did absolutely nothing for me.
I've been translating this video out loud for my brother, who is an artist and doesn't speak English. We both find your video very useful and informative, thank you very much.
Why do I love the art community? Zero negative comments. Thanks you for this, your voice calmed me down and the entire video was informative. Now I feel like I have a more realistic view of my future as an artist
that is absolute true!!! i was.. i was willing to be a scientist because when i was younger i was told that becoming an artist would lead me to hunger haha. so i decided to follow a dream of being a scientist...but they are...so selfcentered and selfish and ...negative... it drived me reallly insane... i find really hard to finish my master thesis... because i was so .... sad because i saw that reality ...then i came again to be an artist... and now i find this video where she helps us to not die from hunger. I really love art community...full of true love...
Thank you so much for sharing all of this information it is really helpful! Also, I felt such a sense of relief when you said you work 4-6 hour days. This is about how much I work as well and I'm so used to seeing other artists saying they work for 10+ hours a day...and It makes me feel like I'm not working hard enough. I try to work for more hours, but things just start to become stressful and not fun. So it's nice knowing there's another artist/youtuber that works about the same hours as me. ^u^ Oh also, I'm not a mom, but I am the oldest of 9 siblings...so I'm like a second mom. Haha
omg haha you too are the oldest, is hard, right? we can achieve it to become an artist. I didn´t practice that much :( I´ll try harder thank you for getting me motivated thank you
Total respect for you, sharing this level of information openly. I'm retired, so it's not something I need right now, but I know great content when I see it. Bravo. I guarantee you've helped many on their journeys. 👏👏👏
This is seriously the best video I have seen on how to make a living as an artist. It focuses not just on the basics and practicalities, but also the authenticity and personal growth involved in pursuing a career. Thank you so much for the inspiring and helpful information ❤️
Thank you. I'm 15 and want to be an artist. I've been looking around everywhere to find what it's really like to be an artist from a financial standpoint.
Thank you for doing this video. It's rare that people are so sincere about how they make money. When Covid struck it took out both my in person teaching and wedding invitations business and I was forced to move my teaching online to Skillshare. It was a steep learning curve, but I am about to publish my second class and your video is giving me hope. I only need to make enough to pay my studio rent because our apartment is too small to have my stuff at home. Luckily my husband makes enough for our immediate needs. So thanks again ❤️
Can I just say how much me and my newborn baby appreciate how soft your voice is in your videos . I can’t stand yelling videos . Like bro I’m right here stop yelling at me ! Lol 😂
They do be yelling though. But even if I turn the valume of her video all the way up, no offense to her but her voice is still going to make me sleepy.
Watching your video affirmed a statement by Brian Rutenberg:- “Don’t wait to be inspired so you can be creative in your work ... work and stay open to inspiration arising from your process of creativity.”
Thank you so much for posting this video. I recently just started my art business journey. I have only been doing this for about a month, and I have no prior knowledge of how I can make this a reality for myself. I have been lost with odds and ends jobs, and coming from a family with not much money I couldn't afford to go to college. I am currently unemployed and trying to make ends meet. My friends and family say they love and enjoy my artwork, but I haven't found to have as much support as I thought I had. (in terms of actually buying my art or requesting commissions, sharing my art to others). Which has been difficult for me. This video perked up my spirits and gave me more motivation to continue trying. I know it can be rough, and sometimes you just have to find what works best for you, and also have friends and family who support you. I still haven't figured out what I need to do first in order to grow my following and grow as an artist, but hopefully with time I will get somewhere. Thanks again so much!~
I am watching this to learn so I can help my mom grow a bigger audience. She is 62 years old and has been trying to promote her artwork for decades, tonight she shared to me how depressed and tired she is. Mother’s Day was yesterday and she didn’t feel as happy as she used to be. Thank you for sharing your honesty, and sincerity through this video. You are doing great and I hope I can inspire my mom to keep trying!
This is such A VALUABLE VIDEO and it's amazing how chill and calming it is at the same time, like just listening to a friend chat but that friend is an amazing sage but super nonchalant about it. My mind is so blown and my heart is so comforted. Thank you for creating this!
@ beawilderment You put so well into words my exact feelings! I agree wholeheartedly. I’ve been looking for something like this for a long time! What a blessing!!
If your painting you start running out of room. But in all seriousness. You can keep a piece you really like. Usually it fades, its ok to keep a few though.
I feel this! I painted a large painting I loved and was offered $350 for it randomly when I was showing it and I didn’t know how to react I was 18 and ended up turning the guy down and lying that it was already sold to someone else. I still have it in my house to this day. But then I sold my frist piece to a complete stranger and to know my art had a home in someone’s house made me feel so excited. So maybe focus on that excited feeling for it to live in someone’s home.
I’m an old artist that never really went full time into living of art.... need more courage I guess :/ . Now I’m pregnant and waiting a September baby too :3 hoping I can still manage time to art, my job (graphic designer), and being a mummy. Thanks for sharing your experience, is really useful. Now I won’t think about art as a work, I’ll just have fun with it :D
Arleesha, you are such a breath of fresh air.Thank you for this video. My fave parts: Sincere + Honest, Active +Passive income, Start slow + build following. I intend to slowly start this process as you have recommended. Bless you in your journey. I appreciate you and your help.
Hello Arleesha, Thank you for taking the time to make this video. Your video came up my feed just when I was thinking about how can I grow and progress in my art career. I am a relatively 'new' artist only 1-year-old but I am fortunate to have my audience on one of my social media sites supporting me as a person and for my work. While 2020 did not see any promising monetary gains, but I did have several milestones and a couple of awards that I can add to my list of achievements. I guess the difficult part is monetizing your passion into something that is sustainable. It is not as quick as you have said in your video, about getting money fast like a regular job, but rather, it is a slow and steady pace with a lot of patience. While I do not have to deal with taxes (as I live in a tax-free country) I need to deal with other matters such as getting good and proper art supplies. As of now, I am still operating on my savings but the need to start seeing a proper steady income stream is pressing. While it is manageable for now, I hope that 2021 will see a better year for me in terms of growth and sustainability. The part where you said about, 'people supporting you as a person', I've experienced that and it does make a difference in just having people to click Like on your posts versus supporting you by buying your work. You have inspired me to strive on and also given me some ideas that I would very much like to explore in the future. Thank you once again for making this video and for guiding us 😊🙏✨🎈
This is hands down the best video on the subject I have ever seen. The main reason it appeals to me personally is how chill and honest you are about it. I don't want jets, islands, or million dollar cars like all the other chaps display quite...sadly. I also know nothing good happens fast, only bad things happen fast(fender benders, toast butter side down, etc). Any success you have garnered is earned, and I truly hope you continue. I was just trying to learn a bit more about watercolour because it's the hardest medium I've tried so far, thank you for the really super cool bonus. :)
I’m not even to the middle of your video and wanted to say thank you. My 19 year old daughter is learning about the business side of art and when she walked in, I told her the two of you have similar art interests. She lit up and had me send her the link. I have subscribed and I hope she will too.
This is HUGE. Thank you so much for taking the time to make this. The profit and loss discussion is one that I wish SO badly happened more! So many new artists or less experienced artists dont know what the value of their work is, (or could be) and go straight into a race to the bottom, undercutting themselves to try and make a living making art. I actually see arguments where people SHAME artists for trying to make a decent living making art. it so sad but It makes me so happy to see more information like this being put out.
First, my artist friend sent this to me and I am so thankful to him for it (Jeremey Lampkin.) I LOVE that you mention how all artists are coworkers. I constantly tell other artists we are in this TOGETHER and need t support each other, although I often find that falls on deaf ears... And most importantly, thank you for sharing all of your advice and your journey with helpful graphs and prices and for crunching the numbers for us. I personally have banging my head against the wall over Patreon and realize after watching this that I should just let that go and focus my efforts elsewhere for now. Thanks for all the work you put into making this video!
Love this video! There’s an influx of UA-camrs and UA-cam artists honestly discussing their income openly. It’s so awesome and encouraging. I felt like I could really relate to you when you talked about want to enjoy what you’re doing so you invest money in your art even if it seems like more than you should. I’m a very small artist and have struggled with saving vs investing in growing my art “business”. You’re right though, you have to enjoy what you’re doing, it’s ok to spend money on stuff other than housing/bills/food (within reason). Spending a little extra on your passion just enriched your life instead of your bank account. Thanks for this video, it’s really encouraging 🙏🏻👏🏻
I've watched a lot of art videos, mainly to find ways to get myself started with my art, because I hate anything with self-promotion and marketing, but I know it's impossible to avoid it if you want to make a living with art. But so far your video has been the only one that actually talks about the right things that I was looking to get an insight on. Usually most of the videos I've seen seem to have the right title, but then they talk about things that are so around the bush or just ignoring the very important facts that would actually help people have an understanding of things. So thank you so much!! I can't stress this enough. Your video was a big big help and you're a lovely person in every way, just by how you communicate with your audience.
Hi there, just subscribed. Thanks for the interesting and informative chat...along with your sketching! I find if a person is a bit isolated, this kind of UA-cam interaction is very encouraging, especially if beginning the Art journey or thinking of being commercial with it. Perhaps it goes with the territory, but I find artists, me included, are critical of their own work or lack the confidence to show what we do to others. So thanks again for the encouragement to go for it ...taking your practical advice on board. You have achieved a great work/Life balance. What an inspiring home your kids are growing up in! I am semi retired and now have more time to follow my art dreams, both drawing and craft based. Thank you for sharing your journey. I wish you continued success and send loads of good wishes to your followers too!
Wow! What a comprehensive explanation. You didn't leave any leaf unturned! It is good to see another mom as a professional artist. I have 4 kids and have been illustrating for several years. Also, I like your friendly sounding voice! I'm going to go check out your other videos now!
Thank you for being so transparent! It’s really inspiring to see someone who turned their artistry into a career but isn’t “hustling” or aspiring to be the top of the top. Goes to show that a career as an artist is attainable even if you’re only driven by passion and self care, not wealth and notoriety. Thank u🙏🏽
this was the craziest synchronization. up until you showed the stickers, I had no idea who you were, youtube recommended you to me. i really enjoyed listening to you and planned on checking more videos out until I realised WHO YOU WERE! I have seen your art everywhere I looked, I have checked you on instagram on countless of times, pinterest.. you name it. never had an idea you were also active here. just wow. i love when this happens
this was actually so helpful, thank you so so so much arleesha 🥺 i'm still in college and i would ideally like to become a full time artist as soon as i graduate, but realistically this industry isn't transparent when it comes to money and i had no idea how much money i should be expecting to make so it was so hard to plan and like set goals for myself. this video really helped me so much on what i should prioritize atm which is probably just making art and slowly building an audience. thank you so much for your transparency and honesty because it makes not only me but other people who watch your videos inspired to reach our goals like you have and are continuing to do 🥺❤️
This video in itself has so much valuable content like some of courses that people sell for big money. Thank you for sharing this so openly and helping others in this genuine way. Also, your voice is so peaceful, it's a pleasure to listen and learn from you.
Such a generous, informative, open hearted video! Wonderful art, and journey... And... That 'I Love you' at the end, wow! Just felt so genuine and true. It really moved me, made a wide-eyed grin and a laugh happen. Love you too.
This was the most helpful video about this subject, thank you!! My plan is to open an online shop by the end of 2021 and anxiety hits every time I think about the money aspect 😅
This video was so useful especially for smaller creators and the way you organised each point made it flow really well. I really liked watching your sketching too just to see how you build up your art! I agree with the workload and diversifying your income with active vs passive income, thanks so much for all the great tips
Ahhhh me too! I want to make money as an artist, but it’s so hard to know how. Especially because I’m still struggling with balancing my schoolwork and uploading to social medias 😅 I find these personal videos so informative :)
What great talk. Very helpful and so refreshing to come across a genuine person willing to share and not trying to sell something. I’m just beginning and am taking small steps. Than you x
Your voice is sooo soothing! This video is just helpful. I'm from Philippines and it's quiet challenging how to build my art business which I just started 3 weeks ago. I am a mom of two and have very limited time to even paint and make video for youtube to build my community. Whew, I started painting AGAIN to relieve stress from postpartum and the pandemic. It's harder than I thought, but honestly still enjoys it. Thank goodness I saw your video, to focus more on learning and enjoying what I love than having money. That hits me. My family needs my financial support and I can't find a way to support it that I know can excel. I can relate much to you and I feel you can understand me coz I'm a mom of two babies (1 y.o and 2y.o) Crazy gap. Haha... Thank you so much!
Thank you so much! I appreciate your honesty about your journey as a full-time artist and even sharing so openly your finances the past 3 years. You are truly helping the art community. I have just sent my "retirement" letter to my supervisor so that I can finally pursue my dream of being a full-time artist. There seems to be this "unspoken" pressure or perception that to be a "successful" artist these days, you need to create online content at least 3x a week, or have so many subscribers in a few months, etc. I am the type who needs to deliberately take things slow so that I can just enjoy the process of creating, otherwise, I will fall into the trap of expecting too much from myself again and create mediocre art just for the sake of content. This is notnthe path I want to take. It is the first time I heard a fellow artist say that you just also want to enjoy it - making art. Making money from your art is always great, but it should not take away from the enjoyment and pleasure of creating. Your video affirmed that for me. So thank you and be blessed even more for being generous in sharing.
i got into watercolor after watching amazing artists like you, steve and denise. i always had the hang of it but this time i actually wanted to devote myself into this hobby and improve my art. But unfortunately when my parents noticed it, they immediately forced me to back out saying it will get in the way of my studies! they took away my good watercolors and watercolor paper. like bruh, i'm just trying to do something i enjoy. i had many hobbies growing up, but my parents talked me out of all of them saying something trivial like art, craft, sport, cooking etc won't help me in the future, due to which i think i missed out of many opportunities. they are not bad. they always say they force studies on me only because they themselves didn't go to school and don't want to see me doing the same thing. but it does not justify them not allowing me to pursue my hobbies. or maybe i'm just wrong. sorry for the rant, this really depressed me quite a bit but i wanted to share it nonetheless. to anyone reading this, don't be like me.
Your parents are being jerks. Having a hobby helps to release stress and express yourself in a healthy manner. Whether or not it has anything to do with your future career is irrelevant. Although depending on what you're doing, you could probably work it in somewhere. (Making posters, scientific illustration, visuals for videos, etc). Do your best in your current situation, but maybe look for schooling or a life path where you have more space between you and your parents. Even if their feelings stem from concern for your future, it's really unhealthy.
"don't be like me" That caught my attention more than the rest. Like.. you give us the advise that YOU should take for yourself bruh! Explain your parents that being depressed won't help you in the future either. Stand up for yourself. (I'm sorry if i sound mean, I don't mean to come out as rude or mean
NinjaYukaria I indeed have decided to move out next year for uni which is faraway from where we live now. But I try not to disappoint them (maybe it’s my problem). They are hard workers and I respect them, and the last thing I want is for their son to grow emotionally cold/distant towards them. I love them to death but the choices they make for me as my ‘higher authority’ put me in quite a bit of emotional dilemma.
Geno Veze don’t be sorry. I really appreciate that you’re trying to make me understand things. But sometimes I did feel like stepping down rather than standing up for myself was probably the better choice especially considering family. I’m not rebellious but I also didn’t like to hide feelings (at least in the beginning). But one or two reasonings turned into fights and I realized just how much tension such things can cause. Maybe when I move out things will be better in the sense that I could appreciate liberty while still maintain a healthy relationship with my parents. I do hope they realize that I want to be accountable for my own life. I’m sorry all of this turned into a family drama. I really apologize.
You are right in this case, life isn’t always about studies and having hobbies and life skills is important for our well-being. That being said, I would focus on improving your drawing skills. It will provide you with a creative outlet and the skills you will help you in the future. Drawing is the fundamentals of art and all you need is a pencil and paper. You seem to be very smart and mature, you have the ability to rationalize your feelings vs your parents and think logically. I think you’ll do well and I wish you the best.
As a starting artist with great anxiety about career, this really changed my perspective on sharing my work and building community. Thank you Arleesha for the great video!
Big respect for actually saying what you make. I think its really important to know what other people make and how. We all need to help each other in this world! You Rock
Thank you so much for your authenticity! I'm in the very beginning of my art path as a fulltime job, supported by my amazing therapist who once told me "everybody has a special place in society, jut take time to find yours". This advice is precious, thank you for promoting selfcare and family as an active part of any art careers, your video gave the special boost I needed right now 💕
This video was like listening to a big sister. This is the first video I have watched of you and I had subscribed within the first 5 minutes. Thank you for being so transparent and real about your experiences. Me starting out as an artist found this extremely helpful and reassuring Thank you X 100
i value sincerity so much, and i really think you are correct about that. imo art is about connecting with people - even if that sometimes is just yourself - and thats hard to do if youre forcing yourself to be something youre not. thanks for sharing all this :)
Hello there, I just wanted to thank you for this video. It just gave me so much hope. Online you hear from/see a lot of artist who get burned out or start hating art so much they stop it after they start earning money. Because of that I've been quite apprehensive about doing art for money at all - it is way to dear to me to risk losing it. So hearing you saying that it's OK to draw for yourself/motives you enjoy, to have short workdays and take breaks, to not care about algorithms made me really relieved and happy. So thank you, thank you so much for showing me such an honest and open approach.
I usually get bored of long talking UA-cam videos but this video was brilliant. Your voice is so soothing and you’re so interesting to listen to. I felt really miserable today but this video cheered me up. Just subscribed!
your attitude mirrors mine as regards to art so much! i don't desire to be a slave to this. creating is what gives me joy and has helped me battle my depression and anxiety. thank you for sharing your experiences so much!!😍😍
Thank you so much for this video! It was so helpful to understand how artists make money and the progress that it takes. I always see artists posting so many times and I try to as well, but I sometimes don't have the time to and it makes me feel as if I'm slacking off. It's nice to know that people in social media take time to help those that are struggling artists and are trying to be recognized in the art community.
This was a super helpful, comprehensive overview of how to structure an online art career and what to expect! I really appreciated the way you progressed from topic to topic, providing tips and information but even more so how you related it to your own experience. This was exactly what my wife and I needed to see right now!
Such down to earth approach to your business! This has so much useful information for moms and part-time artist as well! Thank you for being so honest.
Thank you so so so much for showing your art from when you first started. It gives me so much inspiration and hope. You’re the BEST! I seriously consider you my biggest source of support and inspiration. ❤️
thank you so much for being comfortable sharing such in depth information about your income!! it's something that is rarely talked about, but it's very helpful to know where other people are at, and as someone who hopes to make a living off of their own art, its insanely helpful to see realistic numbers and the benefits of having so many sources of income. I'm so happy for you with how far your art income and reach have grown over the past several years!! sending lots of love to you and your family, I hope you guys are doing well! 💖
Wow. Thank you for sharing this information, most people wouldn’t really share this financial stuff. It really helps to know how all these things work.
Thank you for this video, this is the most honest video about becoming a full time artist and what goes in it. I think you just got yourself a new subscriber ❤️❤️❤️
Thank you so much for being open and sincere, this is one of the best videos on the topic that I've ever seen. I lost my job as a mobile game artist shortly before covid-19 and the quarantine made me rethink what I was doing with my life. I knew I didn't want to go back to mobile games or a full time job in the office. Not because I am lazy but because it didn't fit the vision I had for a dream job. Slowly but surely I am moving towards becoming an independent artist and it takes more courage than anything! Thanks for giving me courage and showing that it's possible :)
Thankyou so much for sharing your experiences, Ive been worrying about numbers and hashtags for too long. I just need to create and get back to enjoying the journey abit more. I love your chilled out vibe. This year has been tough for a lot of people. I think that is even more important.
Thank you for this! One day I hope to get the confidence to put myself out there. I used to watch your videos everyday but I haven’t painted since my dog passed away in February. I forgot how calming your voice and demeanor was and I think you’ve inspired me to start painting again. Thank you.
aaarrrrgh thank you so much for this video. you've really helped me to feel motivated to get on with it, even though life just keeps getting in the way. I'm subbing.
I didn't really think about it until you mentioned it but I realise a big reason I love your content isn't the content itself but you. The way you make your boss reflects you in a way I really appreciate :)
This is probably the most useful video on earning money as an artist. I love that you’ve given a full breakdown of how much you’ve made from each revenue stream. I’d love to see a how to video on how to create a successful/popular skillshare video as I’m looking to do some of those as I grow my audience.
As someone who has been watching your channel for a long time, this is such a wonderful video.Thank you for posting such a thoughtful, insightful dialogue. As someone who has a difficult sleep schedule, I’ve always been drawn to doing something from home. These are wonderful tips to build yourself in more than just art. I wish you the best. Staying healthy and safe!
Whenever I get in the fever of following a path that guarantees sells I come to your videos to get me back in the mood of peace and to remind me that I will find my own path if I give myself time. You are like my medication in that sense, so thank you
Thankyou for the advices. I don't usually watch such a long video but I loved the way you explained everything. I have learned a lot from this video. A family member is thinking of putting her at out there. I'll share it with her. Thankyou once again.
Amazing video, very helpful and your voice is very zen ( i could draw and listen to you for hours) Everything you say aligns perfectly.. finding a way to enjoy your art, and alight earning vs becoming the slave of modern society Finding a way to be successful yet alight that with your nature is most important ♥
Most useful and helpful. I have a playlist called useful videos and this one went in there. So much of this information is something one might need not just now but at a later point
Thank you for your video. Exactly what I didnt know i wanted to 😊 I am a new Artist, independent and about to begin with a bang 😅 looking forward to hearing more experiences from you and this community.
I’m glad you mentioned your struggle to work right now. I’m having the same issue and I’ve talked to other artists who are. Then there are other artists I know of who are creating more than ever or at least were. I wonder if they still are or if the confinement is starting to get to them also. Hang in there. It was a delightful video.
Thank you so darn much!!! you just a wonderful artist and a mom. I get stressed pretty easily by thinking all prob but you raising two kids and manage all artistic work at the same time I am just WOOOW . this must be my 1st time seeing your video. thank you soo much
This video is such a complete package! Active and passive income is actually new to me and I'm glad I learned a lot with this video. Thank you soooo much ❤️❤️❤️
Thanks for sharing so openly, it's really inspiring and you have a lovely perspective. You mentioned you have anxiety. I would love to hear how you've been able to put yourself and your work out there while dealing with this issue. There is so much bravery is what you do, and you sound so calm about it. Thanks for a great video.
You have re inspired me to change my mindset when promoting my art. I am a very introvert person but I am passionate about having a connection and just listening to this video gives me courage to be more open with my promotion and cultivating a community. I hope my comment made sense lol. But seriously thank u for the video :)
I have children as well, and it was encouraging to hear how you worked on your art career while being a mom. I know it wasn't your focus, but it's nice to see that balance.
I'm super happy I found this video! there's so much I need to learn about organization and networking still but thank you for being so open and clear about your journey it helps us all so much ♥
i love your calm nature 🥰✨ thank you so much for the video! really helpful to hear you experience as someone who’s trying to start sharing their art on internet and youtube and etc

Can relate to your post 😌 shall we start a support chat group for new artists, who wants in?
I was in the same position as you. I worked as a project assistant for over two years and i was miserable. But it was that job that made me see that i cannot live doing that all day every day. I've been translating this video out loud for my brother, who is an artist and doesn't speak English. We both find your video very useful and informative, thank you very much.
Thank you so much you help me ❤
So sweet that you helped your brother 🤗
That sweet ♥️
Why do I love the art community? Zero negative comments.
Thanks you for this, your voice calmed me down and the entire video was informative. Now I feel like I have a more realistic view of my future as an artist
Exactly! On the realistic view of the future!
Well . . . on everything you said, actually!
Dirt. Poop. Garbage. Sewage. Here a negative comment.
Lol. Just messing around. I agree with you. I love this part of UA-cam.

Oh also, I'm not a mom, but I am the oldest of 9 siblings...so I'm like a second mom. Haha
lol also love your art
no reply damn
Am also your fan Love2drawManga
Thank you, so much.
.
omg haha you too are the oldest, is hard, right? we can achieve it to become an artist.
AGREE :)
You can do it :) Good luck!
How is it going now that covid restrictions are starting to lift?
The "I love you" at the end put a tear in my eye. Thank you for sharing your story :)
@sustainabledigs . Lol 😂 my fingers do the yelling but my face stays quiet 🤫
Watching your video affirmed a statement by Brian Rutenberg:-
“Don’t wait to be inspired so you can be creative in your work ... work and stay open to inspiration arising from your process of creativity.”
What a blessing!!
this actually helped me out a lot since i just started posting my drawings recently. thanks for all of the info!
How do you handle the emotional attachment to your art and parting with an original piece of work you love?
If your painting you start running out of room. But in all seriousness. You can keep a piece you really like. Usually it fades, its ok to keep a few though.
I feel this! I painted a large painting I loved and was offered $350 for it randomly when I was showing it and I didn’t know how to react I was 18 and ended up turning the guy down and lying that it was already sold to someone else. I still have it in my house to this day. But then I sold my frist piece to a complete stranger and to know my art had a home in someone’s house made me feel so excited. So maybe focus on that excited feeling for it to live in someone’s home.
Make it again duh
I like to get rid of it and move on
Focus on the fact that drawing or painting is a process. I believe that artists love the process.
I so appreciate your honesty. I feel much better about setting realistic and attainable goals for myself after watching this :)
@Gisi
I have come back here to this video for info multiple times
You have such a calming demeanor and just a non judgy warm feel. Thanks for sharing everything you share!
I love you Arleebean I had been struggling to find my art style. and when I found your channel i started painting more abstract and, I loved it!
First, my artist friend sent this to me and I am so thankful to him for it (Jeremey Lampkin.)
I LOVE that you mention how all artists are coworkers.
I would love to have a co worker like you ! I love your sketch and how you think :)
Ahh! I’ve been waiting for this vid!
Ahhhh me too! I want to make money as an artist, but it’s so hard to know how. Especially because I’m still struggling with balancing my schoolwork and uploading to social medias 😅 I find these personal videos so informative :)
Hi! Your authenticity is so refreshing. Thank you for sharing who you are and what you do. I wish you much success!
"don't be like me"
That caught my attention more than the rest. Like.. you give us the advise that YOU should take for yourself bruh!
You Rock
I just love how authentic you are. It really gives me hope in these uncertain times. Continue making content!
I'm listening to this as I'm painting and I just wanted to say that you're voice is super calming.
Me starting out as an artist found this extremely helpful and reassuring
Thank you X 100
i value sincerity so much, and i really think you are correct about that. imo art is about connecting with people - even if that sometimes is just yourself - and thats hard to do if youre forcing yourself to be something youre not. thanks for sharing all this :)
I‘m listening to this while painting a commission and it‘s so interesting und calming at the same time to hear other people’s journeys 🥰
This is the first video of yours that I've seen. This is so helpful and inspiring, thank you!!
this is great information and makes the task of becoming self employed seem a little less daunting! thank you.
AMEN! I love your outlook. This is exactly the life and attitude I want to adopt 😊 thanks so much for sharing such encouraging and practical tips
Thanks for being so transparent! Lots of great advice here.
I don't know what I enjoyed more.. content of the video or your voice 😍 thank you for information you shared and inspiration 😌
Just found this channel via this video. Wanted to just say thank you for all the encouragement & the clarification provided in this video.
This is probably the most useful video on earning money as an artist. I love that you’ve given a full breakdown of how much you’ve made from each revenue stream. I’d love to see a how to video on how to create a successful/popular skillshare video as I’m looking to do some of those as I grow my audience.
So happy I found this, been going through a slump recently and it’s because of the pressure I’ve put on myself, this has really helped!!
I love your authenticity! Thank you for sharing your experience.
You are like my medication in that sense, so thank you
Thank you for being so generous and transparent with your knowledge ❤️
Thankyou for the advices. I don't usually watch such a long video but I loved the way you explained everything. I have learned a lot from this video. A family member is thinking of putting her at out there. I'll share it with her. Thankyou once again.
I appreciate your honesty and your voice is quite soothing .I really love the third, and the fourth sketch.
Hey, thanks for what your doing. You definitely keep young artists like myself encouraged. First time here and will be subscribing.
Amazing video, very helpful and your voice is very zen ( i could draw and listen to you for hours)
Everything you say aligns perfectly..
finding a way to enjoy your art, and alight earning vs becoming the slave of modern society
Finding a way to be successful yet alight that with your nature is most important ♥
Thank you for being so transparent and open with this! Taking a few of these tips into my own practice moving forward 🖤
I’d love to see your shipping, packing and just general store upkeep! Also any equipment you use. Great video!
Thank you for sharing. I look forward to incorporating this into my life.
Most useful and helpful. I have a playlist called useful videos and this one went in there. So much of this information is something one might need not just now but at a later point
You're such a generous person to share this!
It was a delightful video.
thanks for being so transparent about the money part, and selfishlessly share all these. It sort of motivates me to build on my youtube too
Thank you so darn much!!! you just a wonderful artist and a mom.
This video was SO HELPFUL!! Thank you so much for creating it and for your transparency with everything!
I know it wasn't your focus, but it's nice to see that balance.
emily artful is another artist and mother i follow, she’s very kind and she cares about her kids so much. she’s an amazing artist too.
Your honest and authentic advice is invaluable. Thank you 🙂
I'm super happy I found this video! there's so much I need to learn about organization and networking still but thank you for being so open and clear about your journey it helps us all so much ♥
i love your calm nature 🥰✨ thank you so much for the video! really helpful to hear you experience as someone who’s trying to start sharing their art on internet and youtube and etc
