- Train derails in Audenshaw with massive emergency service response Emergency services have swarmed an area surrounding a railway line after a train derailed. Police and firefighters are currently in attendance in Sidmouth Street, Audenshaw, Tameside, close to the railway tracks.
They arrived on the scene before midday today (September 6 2024). Police and firefighters are at the scene, off Sidmouth Street. Network Rail say the freight train 'came off the tracks' at low speed, with nobody injured. The eyewitness said: "I was on a work call and heard an enormous scraping as the whole house began to shake. Spoke with neighbours closer to the line who noted pictures falling from the walls - everyone thought we were having an earthquake."In a statement, Network Rail said: "“At around 11:30 today we received a report that a freight train had come off the tracks at low speed near Denton."The train was carrying aggregates and was headed for Manchester Hope Street. Officers remain at the scene and the line remains closed while the scene is being cleared and investigated. Enquiries are ongoing.
The holes in the bridge deck are likely the result of the derailment rather than the cause, wagon wheels will slice straight through the thin deck plates
I enjoyed that video. Brilliant as always Will
I have been to numerous Derailments such as this one when I was with The Breakdown & Recovery Teams. Believe it or not, that one is a fairly easy one to put right, no need for Cranes, all done with Jacks and Beams. I would imagine that the BD & R Crew from Wigan Springs Branch would have turned out to this one. Some nice Drone footage there 👍👍
Really good video, what a mess!
Genuine question , can it still be done with as you say including taking the weight of the aggregate it was carrying into account? Awkward place to get a crane to anyway.
@@broomeec6834 Yes mate, the large lifting Jacks that they use can lift 120 Ton. You only really ever use Cranes when the Wagons are either capsized or partly capsized or they have ended up partially on top of the Wagon adjacent.
Thanks Will 😊
THANKS FOR REPORTING
RESPECT!!!
Great footage mate luckily not a public train 👍
They say its a freight line only Closing it down for now Interesting William Thank you very much Cheers
The worst ever crash in peacetime Briatin was at Harrow and Wealdstone. Within 24 hours there were trains running again.
THE LINE OPEND IN 24 HRS , BECAUCE THE. RAIB WASN'T. AROUND THEN.😅😅😅😅😅😅
That's because they didn't have days of health and safety risk assessments to determine if its safe to have a safety briefing. After they have determined who's fault it was so they can pay for it. .
And how would you go about rebuilding a bridge in 24 hours, pray tell 🤔
@johnwalker194 ask the germans they managed it numerous times during WW2.
Nice video Pete , I went to Peterborough and got both and a steam tour with a black 5 . As always good filming and nice place with a different angle . No shot of Charlie though .
Realy good video 📹 👏 👌
great vid urban legend as i live just up track from there .
I filmed the Biomass train that was in front of this one at Denton station and the leading engine failed near to Mossley tunnel, funnily enough it was GBRf 66779 'Evening Star', and amazingly enough it was the freight behind that one also GBRf owned that derailed. That passed through Denton Station minutes after the Biomass had and ironically that was double headed too! I have footage of both freights at Denton station if its of any use to the RAIB. It wasent GBRf's morning.
You could contact RAIB and ask if they want a copy
Good video will Keep em up
The carriage at 4:30 ! Please tell me it isnt Garfield ??? 😢
I'm not too sure mate thank you for watching and leaving a comment much appreciated💯🙂👊
Lucky lower speeds, few if any injuries, location, and lack of liquids or chemicals.
Good on the scene reporting.
Holy moly ! @2:50 bridge, hopefully there will be a detailed report soon.
You got really close up.
On the UAV over the bridge...@5:00 close-up adjacent track many missing sleepers too ?
My eye is inexpert, but I'd guess the bridge is a total write-off. The wheel flanges have cut through the deck, and in doing so will have done heavy damage to the structural cross-members as well. 🌉💥🚂
The lack of sleepers on the adjacent line might be by design and not a defect, though. There are several railway spans in my area - All iron/steel, and mostly built in the 19th century - Where fewer sleepers are used but are fixed to the structure, or the rails sit on parallel beams likewise bolted to the bridge. In both cases the bridge structure provides the ballasting and lateral gauge maintenance that sleepers normally provide in regular areas where ballast is employed. 👍
So is the damage to the bridge caused by derailment ? Would suspect that bridge or at least bed would need to be replaced
Wagons not carriages
Rail hauled freight receptacles.

Good reporting! Think they will be needing a new bridge as the Meccano has clearly seen better days.
I am sorry it's taking so long to reply I've been down tried to get as much information as I can to do a full documentary with actual moment of train derailment it will be coming soon but you can see more drone footage💖💯👍
Have the Caravan appreciation society been steeling the rails again?
Nah, it was your family, they were on their way back from visiting you in prison.
Not in the general population, for obvious reasons, I heard.
@@fritzdrybeam Wow, somebody had a bad day of copper theft today.
@@MattyEngland Are you still on that register?
You know, the one you father was on.
they're too busy stealing kids bikes
@@SDE1994 Your family?
Wow, that's a weird admission to make.
Glad nobody injured but the potential could of been a lot worse and this is the problem of selling land for building directly beside busy railway lines.
Thank JC it wasn't some sort of "chemical incident'...
Thanking goodness this was a freight train and not a passenger one! The damage is severe - That bridge might be a total write-off, given the wheel damage to the deck - But if this had been a pax train leaning at 45° it would be hard to convince passengers *not* to de-train themselves and get into even more trouble by doing so. 😳
And the workload for the driver (Who was probably working alone, if GBRF are also trying to cut down on staffing) must've been extraordinary; Call signaller for a line block, lay protection at both ends, call various teams to advise of the incident and get appropriate safety measures and facilities put in place...And all in a *very* short space of time! ☎🏃💨🚂⚠
Some pretty nice drone footage you've got there, too! Please could you do a favour and send a copy to the RAIB if you haven't already done so? It may be of use to them. Thankyou! 😇💯👍
I believe it is a freight only line so no passenger trains.
Wagons look like HOA aggregate hoppers.
I went down Saturday Will & they were taking some of the rear wagons away with another train.
Cheers mate that's the only day I didn't go down that week it's a shame it would be great to see you again🙂💯💖👍
Praise God it stayed up the top there and didn't roll down onto the ground below
Why did the sky fairy let it happen in the first place ?
Do you still believe in the Tooth Fairy & Father Christmas too?
@@p.istaker8862 I believe in God. He made everything.
@@1harryrobert Which one ? and how do you know it made everything ?
How long till it’s sorted? Jan/Feb 2025?
Remove, repair, replace compromised infrastructure.
Job sorted.
The question begs, why did it derail on what is basically straight track?
Good report. I guess the bridge deck was dmaged from above. Just shows!
So i take it there will be delays to services while investigating how this happened,Hope the driver and crew are OK .
Hi Will great video are we going to see eney more of the derailment rescue please well done 👍🏻💯
Looked like a bogie had failed, or a wheelset?
A lot of successful channels don’t have any music at all in their videos. In most cases, any sort of music is not necessary. A lot have moved on from it now.
Don't need the finger..
Sorry it's so I can see what I'm looking at on the camera it's only got 1 inch screen DJI pocket 1 I hope you enjoyed the video I put some more out now🙂💯👍
"massive emergency service response" ????????? or just clickbait!
It was a huge response to start with. Check the manchester evening news footage. This was probably a day after it happened
That's going to be a reet pain to sort out, seeing as it's full of stone
Hi Will
Wonder how many railway bridges there are in the uk ?🤔
According to Network Rail sure approx 30,000.
I'm assuming it was an empty payload, else it would have pulled more containers over and left a ton of debris though it may still have had a payload, Unidentified?🤔
It's full of aggregate stone, if you look more closely. About 100t gross per wagon.
Well, ow did tha appen?
What cargo are they transport .cos it definitely isn't people .. not it could he coats or concrete they transporting
Aggregate stone.
What planet are you on? Coats (concrete overcoats perhaps?)Do read the replies before you look silly.
Looks like the whole embankments give way
good vlog if that was in us they would be clear up tracks fix in a day uk stand around doing f all take aweek to sort out joke it is
Don't you believe it. Have you seen the incredible amount of accidents they have in the US compared to us 🇬🇧 Just have a look on here.
We would still be taking photos long after your tracks were repaired and open. It was not like that years ago. This will only take about 1 1/2 weeks to re-rail and repair the track
Another video shows 2 days later they have taken one wagon that was not derailed away. Getting on with it
6 days later and they are still taking photos and measurements of the 5 derailed wagons, now talk of it taking a few months to re open the line
Drax running short
Pretty sure it's nothing to do with Drax. Just aggregate stone for Salford.
@@lancashire-john. Think you're missing the point here mate.A Liverpool/Drax biomass working had passed in the other direction not long before. They use this FR8 only line regularly.
