Very helpful. My 1985 16800 has never had a screw removed, so knew it would be tight. Hair dryer worked perfectly. Have seen a blow torch recommended...WTF! On a $15000 watch! Screwdriver fit properly, used a holder base to hold the bracelet and pressed down while using fingers from both hands to turn. Came out pretty easily. Thanks for the video!
Having gone to school for Rolex watch making and repair I can say this is a pretty good video but I would like to add a 2 things. 1) invest in a watch block. These are relatively inexpensive and provide far more confidence when adding / removing links as it will steady the watch thus allowing you to use both hands on the screw driver (one to turn and one to steady the shank) 2) we were thought to size glide lock clasps with the mechanism in a neutral position with a bias to outward adjustments with the exception being if the client intended on using the glide lock exclusively as the divers /wet suit extension and not for daily in the fly adjustment
Long time no see my friend Always enjoy any of your reviews no matter the brand I must admit I'm a bit of a sucker for two tone watches and this one just might find a new home in the collection Thanks for sharing as always and Be well 👍
Hi, thanks for this helpful video. Hoping you can help me with a question: I have a 6.5 in wrist like you and just got a Submariner (124060). My AD removed 3 links as you suggest in the video. However, my bracelet has 3 links on the 6 o'clock side and 5.5 links on the 12 o'clock side. So basically, if we look at the bracelet at the beginning of your video, my AD chose to remove 1 link from the 6 o'clock side, instead of from the 12 o'clock side as you did in the video. What would be a reason to choose my 3-5.5 configuration, as opposed to the 4-4.5 configuration you do in the video? Do you think my AD in a way made a mistake, or what would be a good reason to choose 3-5.5 over 4-4.5? As far as I can tell, my watch fits fine, but it's hard to tell it's perfect since I've never tried the other configuration! Currently, I have the glidelock covering 2 of the 6 little rectangles, which feels like perfect tension. If I make it as loose as possible (uncovering all rectangles), then the watch is loose enough to move around my wrist. If I cover 4 out of the 6 rectangles, then the watch is pretty tight. I probably wouldn't want to go tighter than that. Thanks so much for any help. If needed I'd be happy to send you pics of how it looks like!
I have an 7 inch wrist, that's 9 setting on the glide lock, I'm on number 6 setting from the lowest, 6 o'clock side have 4 link and 12 o'clock have 5 link, can I add a link on the 6 o'clock side to get the lowest setting on the glide lock?
I went to RSC, and they add 1 link on the 12 o'clock side and took out the half link on the glide lock side, now I'm on 3rd lowest from the 9th setting. It looks balance out .@@wcarterjohnson

could you give the dimensions of the link screw for the Oyster bracelet? Thanks
Now when you’re walking with the watch on, doesn’t it eventually fall on to your wrist/hand?
I feel like my sub is either too tight or too loose.
thanks informative video,.. just want to clarify for jubilee bracelet size of screw please, I have a 36 mm and 26 mm jubilee bracelet... thanks
Best tutorial out there! Thank you Keep it up 🙏
Awesome video, thanks
Why does the Rolex guide recommend starting on the 6 o clock side?

Is it normal the bracelet squeaks so loudly?
Yes it does. I just got the 2024 model and the bracelet squeaks a lot compared to my older one

Sure you can. It's your watch. But if you make it where your maxing out the glidlock it will prematurely wear out your braclet.

I’m in the position where if I remove a link it’s too tight but if I leave it it’s too loose 😢
Glide lock👍🏼
How many links should a new model submariner have including half links ? Thanks
11.5
@@BenkeiWatches ok thanks
7:11 And please take of your rings when you work on my watch. I like to put the scratches in myself.
The entire first half of this video can be cutout lol. You dont actually start adjusting anything or showing how to until the 5 minutes mark!
They ruined a legend
