I totally adore Vera. I actually feel for the poor girl. Every time she lets her guard down he's always hurt or somebody using her for their own ends. Ok she may come across a cold un caring person. But deep down can see that she's a good person with a heart of gold. The only reason she so cold & bitter is the way she's bin treated over the years. She's not a person. The actress that played Vera - she did an amazing job and she played the characters so well. She sure suited the part🙂😉.
For all her faults too, she was honest and not crooked like so many officers that came after her. She would never ever have assaulted a prisoner or set them up or anything.
To be fair though, suspension is a neutral act and does not actually infer guilt. It's done to protect the officer concerned, so that an investigation can be carried out without anyone claiming the accused officer unfairly influenced the outcome. Vera would be suspended on full pay while the matter was investigated.
Joans an unrealistic character, always in the right place at the right time and the amount of luck she has is comical. In my opinion well over stayed her welcome and ruined the show.
I'm from the UK, I stopped watching Neighbours in, probably, the late 80s. I had no idea she was n it. I did watch bits of Home and Away with Prisoner veteran actors Fiona Spence, Ray Meagher, Judy Nunn, Maggie Kirkpatrick. Cornelia Francis and I'm sure, many others. Imagine being in your 20s in the 70s in Australia. I'll bet there were GREAT times to be an actor in Australia. Lots of jobs going...
I feel sorry for Vera. It doesn't happen often but every time she softens up a bit and tries to be nice something happens and it all turns to crap for her. No wonder she's bitter.
+Kay Woods - I love Vera. I agree. I don't know if she's bitter or just hyper-sensitive bc everything good in her life turns to shit. I would really have loved to see Vera get together with Meg. At least Meg would be decent and wouldn't betray her. That never would have happened back then. They had to add the obligatory condemnation of homosexuals - especially gay parents. smh.
So Vera gets suspended for accepting a painting and Jim just strolls back in after having an affair with a Wentworth prisoner, not to mention paying bail for her and her mum. 😂😂😂
Yes plus there was publicity about the affair however though Mrs Davidson sympathises and likes jim more then Vera But yeah you’re absolutely right The thing is though Jim was honest and was near a breaking point In my opinion he deserves a second chance
Why is Mrs. Davidson on Vera when Fletch has his picture in the paper with his prison lover a violation prison rules, that is so not fair Double Standard.
So true. That woman is the dumbest rock - after Meg on this show. Vera lay the entire truth at her feet the first time around whereas, Letch lied until after he's family died.
Poor Vera, what with being set up about the painting and losing her little dog when the owner came back for her. Vera's mum was a nagging bitter old bag who treated her like rubbish since Vera was a kid, no wonder Vera can be a bitch at times - she's had to learn to be as tough as concrete. We love you, Vera!
I sometimes wonder what Vera would have been like as a child, with her awful mother constantly criticising her. Poor thing. Doreen is back to her childish worst. That argument between Kevin and Doreen was so piss poor I would expect to see it on Home and Away.
I’d imagine Vee was a sweet, innocent child who craved love and affection. Her mother’s constant humiliation, dominance and forbidding ways made Vee the loveless, lonely figure she became. Her work is all she knows in life and she takes her bitterness out on the women, just like her mother did on her. Vee craves love and intimacy, but her desperation always makes her vulnerable and heartbroken

I am very suspicious as to why that "client" is so eager to buy Doreen's house; I'm curious to find out if there's something shady behind that.
Can't believe how self-centred Sharon is. Judy has just come out of hospital after having possibly life-threatening heart surgery, and she's bitching that she wasn't around to help her. Good on you Jude for calling time! Btw, if Fletch worked with Jock at Pentridge, how come he hasn't yet said anything about what the man's like.
OMG! Judy didn't have "life threatening heart surgery". The procedure she had is done under local anesthesia - the leads are fed through an IV line,. It's all done in the X-Ray department with the use of an X-Ray machine to make sure the leads are placed correctly. There is no real incision except for a small cut to place the pacemaker device (the size a watch face) right under the skin. The device is implanted VERY superficially so that the batteries can be changed at intervals SInce patients are not asleep - they are released right away. Patients often have a pacemaker implanted, then go right back to work! (Yes, it was a minor procedure even back then). I don't know who wrote this story arc, but it's utter bullshit. The procedure is not that risky what's creates problems is any underlying heart damage (necrosis) - which Judy does not have. There is no reason for her to have had general anesthesia or a transfusion since both of those things create far more risk than the actual pacemaker implantation.
Because Fletch is a wuss when it comes to calling out dangerous men he knows. He dilly-dallied with Geoff and it put his family in danger and nearly got Meg killed.

quick lou jelly belly is in ericas office go and wind him up lol
This painting storyline is so fucking boring, the only slight interesting part of it is looking into Veras past.
I have a feeling that the art dealer is copying the painting, going to return the forgery. Don't know, guessing... would be good for the plot. Hoping Doreen doesn't get scammed by the real estate slimebag...or Kev
Kevin isnt scrawny
Poor Vera. I actually like her and Fiona Spence seems like a lovely person in real life too.
"I've checked around and she's a bitch.. been asking for it for years"
lol. I wonder who he spoke to. Could have been anyone who knows her :)
Kevin has nice eyes ,he is just slim not scrswny
He is actually quite cute. Far too good for tubby, whining Doreen!
@@Redsleather OH! Boy you are Horrible Aren't you, It's not What you
Look like, It's What's Inside that counts My friend, That's A bit nasty
Don't you think. She's Very Pretty And cute If you must know mate.
Me, too.
That weird Stewart bloke - he has the most horrible voice, like a huge heavy gravestone being dragged over broken glass! Kevin gave me the creeps when he was having that row with Doreen in the garden!
+3032l Jock Stewart is just VILE yukk i agree what an horrid voice ,
Bea seems to dislike Vera way more than any other prisoner does and always bullies and provokes Her etc. I know that Vera isn't a well liked screw but I wonder what happened between them for Bea to treat Vera so abhorrently.
i think alot of it is a power struggle.
Katelyn she stopped Bea going to Debbie's funeral
Yes, that makes sense. Than you !!
@@rayman760 How did Vera arrange it for Bea not to go to her daughters funeral? I have wondered about that for the longest time. It's Mrs Davidson who is supposed to say what or what not to do for the prisoners.
@@sheriheffner2098 same here Sheri. I have always wondered. I always thought Mrs Davidson would have been compassionate enough.
The worst extra in this show plays the sister who comes back with Judy. She'll be back later as a policewoman and then hide in as a screw. Why is she the worst? She stares at the actors and sometimes at the camera.
Poor lizy talking about her kids
