While car less cities are an awesome idea and we need more green spaces and ideas, I personally enjoy, (after years of living way to close to other neighbors) being in a semi rural area with the closest city is 25 miles away. I only leave the house to shop once a week and try to consolidate my doctor appointments in order to lower my carbon footprint. I am retired and I don’t want to be around other people, it’s better for my mental health.

She was 100 yards from home when he severed her spinal cord, broke her neck. Threw her 60 feet to land on her beautiful face! . I know it was 1981 because I was 21, i can't forget the Month/day because my first baby, my son was born on the 2nd anniversary of her death. God gave us a beautiful baby to celebrate on the day she died but it was hard for a long, long time till we could really celebrate and be happy on his birthdays and not cry for the loss of my baby sister. The baby never knew that his auntie would sneak outside for a quick cry and come back in smiling.

I’d go car free. I never drive. I don’t have a license and refuse to get one. Most places are in walking distance to me. I’m in Alberta, Canada though. If I had the cash I would make a village or town without vehicles. Have a place with access to a passenger train or bus stop outside of it. I think the only true time vehicles should be needed is long distance travel. Two things it helps. Both physical health and environmental protection.

I will say that I can't always remember the year my son died because often it feels like yesterday.

My sissy was run down in the street by a drunk driver, she was 14, walking down a country road w/her best friend to see Henry Mancini in the park. She was 100 yards from home when he severed her spinal cord, broke her neck. Threw her 60 feet to land on her beautiful face! . I know it was 1981 because I was 21, i can't forget the Month/day because my first baby, my son was born on the 2nd anniversary of her death. God gave us a beautiful baby to celebrate on the day she died but it was hard for a long, long time till we could really celebrate and be happy on his birthdays and not cry for the loss of my baby sister. The baby never knew that his auntie would sneak outside for a quick cry and come back in smiling.

I’d go car free. I never drive. I don’t have a license and refuse to get one. Most places are in walking distance to me. I’m in Alberta, Canada though. If I had the cash I would make a village or town without vehicles. Have a place with access to a passenger train or bus stop outside of it. I think the only true time vehicles should be needed is long distance travel. Two things it helps. Both physical health and environmental protection.

This is why we drive everywhere in the summer. We go from the air conditioned house to the air conditioned car the way Northerners go from the heated house to the heated car in the winter.
