Real nice find Ben. This is a coin you don't see very often and IMO I think it is definitely MS63 all day long. I'm not sure if these coins get graded harder because of their rarity/value, but knowing PCGS they probably do. Good luck and I sincerely hope that you get that 63. I think that with that price level, it shouldn't be too long before we see results.

That die crack on "OF" on the reverse is pretty distinctive as a VAM-4. I am not a Morgan collector... so I could be wrong. I enjoy looking at the VAM varieties and admire all the work it took to find a classify all these tiny differences .

The whole coin has mint luster on both sides, You have a gem. I would love to see what PCGS GRADES IT. Thanks for sharing.
Ten bucks says it graded lower than the seller liked, he/she cracked it out and sold predicated on the idea that it would grade high. I just don't buy raw. Never.
I tend to agree with this. By mere accident when throwing out my coffee cup, I found a dealer's dumpster filled with cracked grading cases who was NOTORIOUS for buying Raw coins with big step prices for the next grade and submitting for that higher grade. When he didn't get that payoff on the returned graded coins, he cracked them out of their cases and re-listed them as raw with always the verbiage that said "Could grade higher" trying to lure in a a RAW SEARCHER that is hoping to get a certified higher grade and big "payday". I say Buy the Known, Not the unknown!
That's a very nice Morgan. I have a few of them, some graded, some not. I think the highest grade I have is MS65 from the San Francisco Mint. The only scary thing with numismatics is that if the SHTF it all goes out the window. Silver will just be silver, what ever an ounce goes for. If it was me, I would have spent 3500.00 on some gold coins.
Face it you could easily pay triple that amount for a nice mid grade unc Walking Liberty half from the 1920s so I think it was a sound purchase plus it is an attractive coin with a little bit of pleasant toning.

It looks to me to be a well struck Mint State-63 1899-O Morgan Dollar, and I believe Ben, ”The Coin Geek”🤓 will do well after he gets it certified. However, we shall see ! 🤔

It’s a beautiful coin, Ben. Very flashy. I’d say the obverse is a 63 to 64, and the reverse with the scratch is a 62. I’m guessing, given it’s conditional rarity, that PCGS will be hard on it and net grade it to no more than 63.
Awesome - the 1880 micro O is common - same thing O mint mark for a seated quarter I had no idea the 99-0 micro O was so scarce Obviously you’re savvy enough to confirm authenticity or you know the dealer who sold it to you Are there any pickup points to ensure it’s not altered or added mm to those. If i had a shop and people brought there coins to me to see if I was interested I would buy a lot ..and I mean a lot more raw coins. Online buying of raw coins is so hit and miss as its impossible to know if a coin has been cleaned via photos and lighting I have given up on buying raw. Even proof sets are tampered with and cleaned coins put in the holders. Quite frustrating. So I try to buy holdered coins for half of what they list for in NGC and PCGS holders. I hope.. I am not playing a fools game.
If people are selling you there graded coins for only half of what there worth there not very smart.. I own a 1899 mico o Vam-5 Top100 EF-45 Grey sheet on it is 150 I would never sell it for 75 buck's...
How much is a micro o 1880 morgan is worth?? It's a easy 62 63 grade it's in damn amazing shape It was buried along with many many more Morgan's on our farm it was in a original roll so it's in damn good shape except a Lil tarnish on it
Someone told his youtube viewer to send in a coin to be graded first then get attributions after!! Its stuff like that that seems like it would work out better due to population! If there are 500 in MS63 200 IN 64 and only 1 in MS64 with the vam your gunna get a MS63 every time. I am not a pro but I feel like it has some validity!!
It looks like a high 63 low 64 there's a lot of chatter but the luster is off the chains really lite Cameo probably won't get the Cameo but what is it in MS 64 plus 🤠
Well, you also have three Die Clashes on the reverse. Above the left wing, on the left side of the right reef, and on the right side of the left reef. Check the obverse for a Die Clash next to the throat and check the lips as well. Plus, you have a die chip in the "G" of God. However, in my opinion, you paid too much for that. There is a flat spot just above the ear which makes that an MS62...max.
Man you got a huge set of balls to throw down $3k on a raw Morgan. It looks Ms62 to me so perhaps you’ll make out ok. It books really high but what are the comps on this variety?

What’s the one little problem? Many NO Morgan’s are weakly struck. This one looks very bold. I’d call it an MS 63.

Hmm, maybe overlapped? I don't like the greenish tinge to the coin. I have gotten my handparts handed to me by the TPGs on similar...

That scratch on the reverse under the tail feathers looks pretty bad…
scratch below the eagles feathers wont give this a details grade?? looks pretty deep, you can see the light reflect off it when you move the coin.
