The motor is sideways. Replacing this torque stopper at 100,000 seems to really help. Also, the engine mount, on the passenger side, breaks loose, and makes a clunk sound. You have to jack the engine lightly, to hold it up, while replacing the Engine Mount. The Transmission mount, is on the driver's side, and it's hidden under the battery holder plate. You also have to gently jack up the engine, and support the engine, while replacing Transmission Mount. So, there's the Engine Mount, and the Transmission Mount, that hold up the engine. And also the Torque stopper Mount underneath, which he replaced in this video. Remember the engine & transmission are in this car sideways. That's why there are 2 top mounts, and 1 Torque stopper Mount underneath. As shown.
Appreciate this comment. My wife's car vibrates when stopped in gear but not in Park/Neutral or when moving. The internet is pointing me toward motor mounts but I'm not sure how to test for bad mounts. Would rather not just fire the parts cannon at it.
Excellent video, thanks! I did my 2012 ford fusion S passenger side motor mount and now I'm hitting them all. My shit, had violent vibrations. I got 155k on her.
You can see when he shows his old mount that the rubber inside is all torn to shreds. This will cause your vehicle to shake and feel vibrations and bumps in the steering wheel. The rubber acts as a shock absorber. You can also get the custom made to have a rubber billet made with stronger material. Great video
I know this video old but please help. How did u know the mount was bad. I got a 2010 fusion and i get a vibration when i hit the gas between 40 and 50mph only. I replaced the top 2 motor mounts but i think this one bad too. I jacked the car up and hit the gas and i can see the engine move between that same speed.
You have a jack, a jackstand and some bricks holding the car XD. And also not going under the vehicle. Safety first! But tbh, you did place them in a dangerous spot. You should use the car frame.
Yea so we were living on a hill. So I had to make sure that even if it fell off that it didn't fall on me. It takes less time to put a few extra safety measures in place. Than it does to recover have my car fall onto your chest.
We had the motor mounts replaced on our daughters vehicle and ever since then she has had a tremendous oil leak that she never had before. Any idea of any oil lines the mechanic might have cracked? Would a leak come from not supporting the engine properly, while removing the old mounts? I would appreciate any ideas anyone might have. Thanks!
I took it to a local mechanic shop and they’re telling me that the transmission needs to be rebuilt. first I took it there when we noticed that the car was shifting hard and they told me to replace the mounts and that should fix my problem that everything else was working properly.
This is a torque mount, not a weight supporting mount, the right side mount and the transmission mount are the weight bearing ones. Your comment saying to support the engine for this mount is really stupid.
There aren’t any, other than feeling the car jerk slightly or severely when changing gear selection. But most people will not notice or even overlook this and see it as normal. However as this is happening the transmission moves and in turn moves the engine with it. So overtime this excess movement puts additional stress on the other two engine mounts and can wear them out prematurely worst case scenario you’ll be replacing the second one and then all three eventually. That’s the only purpose of the bottom engine strut because clearly it’s not supporting the weight of the engine but reduces the movement. I got an oil change done on my car last week and the mechanic noticed it was broken and told me.
There's a top mount that takes a lot more effort to get to for the transmission because it's under the battery tray. This is the lower torque mount which is much easier to switch out.
No with this motor mount you will feel the car move quite a bit when shift from park to drive. If your car is vibrating in drive then you need to replace your other motor mount.

Andrew Asche hit the gas in Neutral and if your engine jumps up hella then you need new mounts
I just did this on my 2010 fusion. Great video.
Thanks. I made it to help other people. I'm happy that it helped you.

Did you have any clunking or squeaking?
I can’t find much on my 2011 sport
@@averyp4980 mostly vibrations. The transmission mount helped with the clunky noise.

I need custom ones, I replaced this torque strut and one year later it's bad.
You have to be careful with stronger materials. It can take away the vibration dampening if the material is too hard.
I love the hesitation then the "hell with it" moment and presto the ratchet becomes a hammer lol been there bud.. been there.
I replaced my front engine mount today and will do the rear mount tomorrow afternoon.
Great job, thank you for your video and I now feel more confident in doing this myself.
Thanks Dave. How did it go?
Great video keep up the good work....
I have the V6 and you just have to take out the four closest bolts to drop your exhaust
2 from each side of the Y split
Wellll the V6 it goes straight into the exhaust
Appreciate it g
Would this mount make your car feel like the tires are out of balance at highway speeds by any chance?
What size bolts?
Sorry for dumb question, which tire is that in picture so I can locate this part?
It's the front passenger tire.
@@michealwilliams8613 thank bud!
I replaced mine in less then 30 minutes.
What's the size sicket?
Do you have to hold the engine up with a jack for the rear motor mount replacement?
What size did you use?

Could you determine what caused the leak? Cause I'm about to change this torque strut without any support
When they supported the car it could have punctured an oil line or oil pan.
What are the symptoms of bad strut mount? I believe mine is also bad
Where the exhaust pipe? That's a pretty important part you left out in this video.
Do you see the exhaust pipe? That's because it wasn't in the way. I just slide under the car. This is for the 2.5L engine.
Normal to have to bang it in place? Or did u take a shortcut and that was a result?
Thx for the video!
No it is wasn't a short cut. It was just a snug fit.
You didn't have to support the engine with a jack and a wood board on the oil pan? Anyway, simple repair, might attempt this myself.
No it didn't require any support because it doesn't support the engine. It just stops it from torquing left and right.
Will this make your car Vibrate real hard if it’s bad?
I’m having the same problem. My car vibrates hella bad & it’s the mounts. Just took mine it to diagnose the problem
I replaced all 3 of them and my car still shifting hard. The transmission mount was worse, any ideas what it could be?
Shifting hard in park or while driving?
When driving, you can feel 2nd gear horrible all the other gears you can still feel it but not as bad no lights on dash. Fluids is good in it
@@eduardorecinos1469 Sounds like your transmission solenoids need replacing. Not that bad. There are videos out there.

What's the intake not in the way on this car?
No it wasn't
Thats easy, now try the transmission mount XD
Is this v6 3.0 engine?
No it's the 4 cylinder 2.5L
What brand did you buy from? And how is it doing so far?
I bought it from CARID.com and the brand is Anchor. It's doing well so far. It's been a year now.
What were the symptoms? I have vibrating when stopped at light in drive.
Put some support to engine if you do this job
For what? It's only job is to stop the engine from turningg side to side. It doesn't actually support ANY weight.

My car would noticeably Jerk forward when I shifted from Park to drive or vice versa.
Isn’t there a torque spec?
No I looked in the Chilton guides and couldn't find anything.
Repair manual says Transaxle support insulator anti roll 66 lb-ft
Wait ... this was the engine mount replacement lol that's all ??? Bruh they quoted me over 800 at ford !
This is the one for the the 4 cylinder 2.5l engine. Not to be confused with the 6 cylinder which has some things in the way.
800 is for the transmisison mount XD
