      Only £69 on Demon Tweeks. 32% off apparently. Looks good.

      @@malcellison8831 Looks good yes... the only concern I have is how high the platform is... I've seen a review from a Honda Blackbird owner that says the bike ends up quite high in the air when on the stand and the built-in brake doesn't hold the bike still when coming off back the stand. More research needed! 😁

    You can buy turntables that are long for both wheels to sit on. They have wheels that can be moved in any angle. You could push any bike into any gap previously not able to.
    Bit pricey mind bit cheaper than a new shed. About 1-1.5k

    • @RikkyTang
      @RikkyTang  2 роки тому +1

      I did look at those but they would be harder to store in my shed and also more expensive than the turntable and I didn't want to spend too much money! As it's turned out, I only use it very rarely nowadays so it may become a giveaway prize on the channel one day 😁 P.S. Don't give me excuses not to get a bigger shed 😂

    Well done fella! I'm in a very similar situation but with my Tenere 700 in my conservatory. The main problem I have is that I'm not strong/heavy enough to get it onto its centre stand (especially since I've lowered it by 40mm). My current plan is to try and find an ultra low profile bottle jack with a swivle head that will go under the belly pan. If you or any of your followers have any suggestions it'd be much appreciated.

    Im looking at these now, so I have one where (ramp) you put the bike with a side stand onto and that works with a full faired sportsbike, but I have a lowered Harley and while that ramp with wheels works the sheds is not that big and the bike has a side stand and im thinking the brick shape jack I have I can put this under the bike (on the turntable) when its over the turntable jack it enough to lift wheels spin the bike around and lower and remove. Going to buy one to try it as its like a workout and stopping me from being bothered about going for a ride ! so its got to worth a try as impossible to put the bike out backwards as its up a hill. - but thanks for showing this

    Why not sink it into your patio outside? Especially as it's slight down hill. Also if like me you're never going to keep that amount of space around the bike 😊
    Does that also mean your bike is going to be called Thomas as in Thomas the tank engine? He was always using the turntable 😉
    Nice idea though, as you said either a new shed or a extension /lean-to for the Bros

    • @RikkyTang
      @RikkyTang  3 роки тому

      I do address the question of having the turntable outside in the description 😉 I think that gradient will work against me when I have to roll the bike "up and back" onto it's centrestand and the turntable isn't lockable. The wheels can "bounce" on the ground while turning the bike too and I just don't fancy the idea of that happening while the bike is part-way through a turn on this slight slope.
      But... you're right I'm never going to keep all that space free around the bike! Not without an extra shed/lean-to etc. It is amazing to have the turntable though - I wish I had it over the four years I owned my 1250 Bandit!!

    • @try-that
      @try-that 3 роки тому

      Ah right, I didn't realise it was that much of a problem when you were talking about it. I find all big bikes a pain, especially most naked bikes as they don't have grab rails or racks.
      You'll have to build plenty of shelves above bike height.

    £70 ish? have you considered a center stand dolly? they're about the same price. And that way you could move while spinning, so you could get it past the wheelbarrow.
    Or why did you chose a turntable over a center stand dolly?

    • @RikkyTang
      @RikkyTang  2 роки тому

      Now I have to admit that I have not seen a centre stand dolly in person, but when I was shopping for a solution to fit my needs, from the pictures and video I have seen of them it seemed to me that these dollies have their "floor" higher off the ground than the turntable, so it would be harder to get the bike on the centre stand. Also if I did use the dolly outside my shed I'd be worried about using it with the combination of the extra height I mentioned above and the sloping ground (despite the dolly probably having a brake of some sort, using it on my non-level floor would still worry me).
      Ultimately, I've so much stuff in my shed now that I couldn't use either option in there... I need a workshop!

      @@RikkyTang , I have a Warrior Stand for my 1200 bandit , its a task to get it up on its centre stand , and when you do its even further then to lift that front wheel off the ground to move it around . The wheels are so small on it that you need a really smooth surface to get it moving and its so precarious (I'm a big bloke but its not easy ) . and all that to just turn my bikle through 180 .. I now only use the warrior stand on the small 125 in my garage and with much less weight I can get that right in tight to the bandit without damaging my R1 ... I now have the turntable and wish id bought that first, its Sooooo easy to use, without any effort ...

  • @DANGMOW168
    @DANGMOW168 3 роки тому

    Great idea, I was thinking abt that too , but ended up with a warrior stand. Have you looked at a warrior stand ? You can move the bike around easily even up hill. Up it’s good for maintenance too

      Well I'm not gonna lie... I just looked at the Warrior Deluxe stand and it looks like the better option! I can see me buying one next payday lmao. Can you tell me how high the centrestand platform is off the ground? This turntable is only 1cm which makes it quite use to use on level ground. Cheers 👍

      Wow sorry Paul I'm working through any comments I might have missed and clearly I missed yours! I like the build quality - it doesn't seem like it would fall to bits anytime soon. However I must admit that I'm not using it at the moment!! Firstly I wanted to use it in the shed (10ft x 10ft by the way) but with my second bike in there too, the space was just too tight. Secondly I managed to work out how to get my 1250 pointing the opposite direction in a three-point turn (used to be five or seven with my S1000 lol) so I haven't currently got a need for it.

    Can you fix the turntable plate with your foot when you get the bike up onto its stand ? So as to prevent any inadvertent spinning of the table whilst heaving the bike up?

    • @RikkyTang
      @RikkyTang  2 роки тому

      It would be somewhat awkward to use my free foot to keep the turntable still I reckon. I don't think inadvertent spinning would be a big issue as long as you have the centre stand nicely square on the turntable and the ground was level.

    Hi Ricky. How wide is your side entrance and does your bike fit down the side comfortably?

    • @RikkyTang
      @RikkyTang  2 роки тому

      My side entrance (back when this video was made) was about 32" wide. This was not wide enough and it was always awkward to get the bike down the side. Also there was no way I could have fitted my hand guards because the bike would simply not get through the gate. Now I have purchased a brand new gate which is wider (the gap is now about 36"). The bike will finally fit through with the hand guards with no problems.

    What do you put on insurance? They wouldn’t accept shed for mine, only brick built outer building. So goes down as private property but premium goes up. Annoying!

    • @RikkyTang
      @RikkyTang  3 роки тому +1

      If I remember rightly, Bennetts insurance allows you to say the bike is in a locked shed and it does help the premium (you may have to contact them direct since you can't choose that on places like GoCompare). I'm with MCE and all I could say is private property like you.

    • @beauchiefwreckdivers8855
      @beauchiefwreckdivers8855 3 роки тому

      Bit late reply i know but, for what it's worth..Bennetts allow sheds on concrete bases as a 'garage'. Being on a concrete base insinuates it's a more substantial wooden building than a flimsy potting shed i guess!

      @@RikkyTang just been looking for a solution to a similar problem, turning a bike around in a small space, in my case a yard. Anyway I know this is an old thread and your situation has changed, but sometimes thinking outside the box can be the answer. It occured could you have used the turntable outside the garage in your yard to turn the bike round and then rolled it in backwards, leaving it ready to exit but not having to tie up the garage space for the 360 swivel manouvre? Not sure whether a turntable in fixed position or wheeled dolly is a better option in limited spaces?!
