On this week's Chat Log, Mollie and Lauren talk with Harvey Randall about one of the most divisive topics: categorizing games. Sure, things are easy when we're just talking RPGs-unless it's ARPGs versus action RPGs. Don't even get us started on cRPGs. What about the Metroidvanias and the Roguelikes-and are Soulslikes a real genre too?

hi, how to get a pc for free? I'm starting from scratch, I'm going to start a business creating applications, I have skills in flutterflow but I don't have a PC to start what do you advise me?

Some genres are a mess and it is mostly because companies redefined them to get away from the origins of that genre. For example riot coined MOBA so it wouldn't be call a dota clone anymore. Multiplayer online battle arena basically describes every versus multiplayer game ever made. ARPGS were called diablo clones. Soulslike and roguelike have kept their meaning because their hasn't been some big push by a company to redefine them.

It's either a Skyrim knockoff. On Grand theft Auto knock off. Or a metal gear solid knock off.

So why is Elden Ring not a JRPG?
