I was in Inzell for this competition. Göran Claeson got screwed by the ice conditions. After a number of laps his times were dropping him further and further behind. As he passed his coaches he looked at them and just shook his head as he knew the ice conditions were taking away his championship. Claeson was 3rd in the 5000m and 14th in the 10,000m. Colin Coates Australia 4th in the 10KM !!! This was a reality of outdoor tracks and mother nature.

I remember this as a kid the norwegens had 4 skaters with a sirname starting with s stensen sjobrend storholt and stensjemmet if i am correct
You are correct. They were called the 4 aces, since ace in norwegian is written Ess and pronounced exactly like the letter S
