UNSU - SLOW & FAST | Shōtōkan Karate Kata
The Kata Unsu is part of the styles Shōtōkan, Shōrin-ryū and Shitō-ryū.
The name "hand in the clouds" refers to the technique "Sokumen chūdan morotetate": After one has defended upwards, the attacking arm is pushed to the side. But also the construction of this Kata, which seems light and fast because of its technical versatility, contributes to the fact that one thinks conceptually of the lightness of the clouds. The first arm movement, in which one changes from Hachi ji dachi to Heisoku dachi, is executed circularly and slowly. The execution of this first movement can be performed calmly in different (slow) rhythms. Thus the Kata gains sovereignty. The same is repeated at the end to finish the Kata elegantly.
So different and unusual techniques, like close combat, evasive maneuvers, the combined jump and the feint, make Unsu the most highly developed Kata of Shōtōkan Karate.
Before Unsu is learned, one should have practiced many other Kata. In addition, a few years of Karate experience are certainly the necessary basis to reach the technical level that this master Kata requires.

UNSU - LANGSAM & SCHNELL | Shōtōkan Karate Kata
Die Kata Unsu ist Teil der Stile Shōtōkan, Shōrin-ryū und Shitō-ryū.
Der Name "Hand in den Wolken" bezieht sich auf die Technik "Sokumen chūdan morotetate": Nachdem man sich nach oben verteidigt hat, wird der angreifende Arm zur Seite geschoben. Aber auch der Aufbau dieser Kata, die durch ihre technische Vielseitigkeit leicht und schnell wirkt, trägt dazu bei, dass man gedanklich an die Leichtigkeit der Wolken denkt. Die erste Armbewegung, bei der man von Hachi ji dachi zu Heisoku dachi wechselt, wird kreisförmig und langsam ausgeführt. Die Ausführung dieser ersten Bewegung kann in verschiedenen (langsamen) Rhythmen ruhig ausgeführt werden. Dadurch gewinnt die Kata an Souveränität. Das Gleiche wird am Ende wiederholt, um die Kata elegant zu beenden. So unterschiedliche und ungewöhnliche Techniken, wie Nahkampf, Ausweichmanöver, der kombinierte Sprung und die Finte, machen Unsu zur am höchsten entwickelten Kata des Shōtōkan Karate.
Bevor Unsu erlernt wird, sollte man viele andere Kata geübt haben. Darüber hinaus sind einige Jahre Karate-Erfahrung sicherlich die notwendige Grundlage, um das technische Niveau zu erreichen, das diese Meister-Kata erfordert.
