She unfortunately came up at a bad time during the Evert-Navratilova-Graf-Seles era. She was amazingly consistent and ranks # 11 for most weeks in the top 10.
So much to admire about these two players. I loved them both. One thing in particular that stands out to me is that they simply let their tennis do the talking. There was no threatening people that call the lines, berating chair umpires, no petulant boorish behavior, temper tantrums, screaming like a maniac, fist-pumping, doubled over at the waist with veins popping out of their heads...you get my meaning. The Collins', Sabalenka's and Halep's of the world should take a lesson from these players...yeah, right, as if that will ever happen...
Hitting the ball hard and knowing how to do little else is why women's tennis is so one-note now. These two are the model of consistency and could beat many of the women competing today.
Always loved both Date and Maleeva-Fragniere. Both had consistent and good styles of play.

Manuela was so cute!
Maleeva had nice rhythm on her groundies. Love the backhand especially.

and the Serena's too
I liked Manuela and Kimiko too. They were good players but not great.
2 years in a row manuela reach us open semis
I have been in love with you for the last 30 years ❤!!!
The legendary Maleeva sisters, what a story: all three have been members of the WTA top 10
Only Manuela had staying power though - the other 2 never got past the Quarters in a Grand Slam or won as many tournaments as Big Sister
Date hits such a flat ball.
Wow women’s tennis used to be so boring...half the chicks playing at my local tennis courts can compete with these two moon ballers
zeronekke sure Jan
