"They hate having fun and specifically when I'm having fun." I feel this on a deep level. (Cries in Xenagos)
There is a limited amount of fun to be had in any game of magic and he intends to have all of it
That blind seer joke was just a cherry on top of that extraplaner lens explanation. 3d chess and a bad pun? We're so lucky to have this type of top tier content.
I would love to see an updated version of staple remover with the larger restrictions implemented. Maybe by excluding the top 100 in each color.
Seems entirely reasonable
Yeah not sure why they didn't just start with excluding the top 100. It's not like they'd be playing with pure jank at that point since it'd just be specific synergy cards. Even if they seem underpowered it could make for a memorable episode, like with the single artist only decks.
I've really been enjoying Mr. Suarez's decks lately. Also, all of you have been showing good sportsmanship and as such, makes the game more enjoyable to watch. Thank you for something to look forward to on Wednesdays! :)
Another episode when Jeremy wins with green goodstuff while Justin and Jon try and do super cool things and get punished.
Is like he always picks up the most boring decks
Stephen was doing something at least a little different too. Jeremy literally just played, well, green staples. 🤷🏻♂️
@@ToypediaVideos yeah having so many options for no staples green decks, even the new posion commander would´ve been kinda cool
I would hope you're not stapling your cards.
This was a good episode that highlights each color perfectly. Green making big bois, red burning everything, and blue drawing cards. Forgot what Justin was doing, was he even in the game?
Justin without the beard actually looks older. Great show guys. Thanks so much.
This is one of my favorite games lately, I get to see so much cards from my childhood and a bunch of new options. Great start for a season
Great episode! Glad your back already! Loved the stand off at the end, Jeremy navigated it well to come out with the win fair play
Justin's face at 59:39 is absolutely gold.
Gotta give Justin credit for making a Blind Seer deck.
This reminds me of when I was making a Eight-and-a-Half-Tails deck to mess with colours. Didn't really go so well
Wait but why didn't Justin get the archenemy cards to help him this game. Don't think they are playing the mode right
If the mana gorger hydra is goaded and has to attack, why wouldnt you block with your lingified Torbran to get it back in play in a turn or two
Jeremy played Champion of Lambholt, meaning that the tree'd Torbran can't block. Before that, Justin's Well-laid Plans+Shifting Sky means that Torbran can't take combat damage.
This episode was amazing! Not only because you play a tide game but because we see a lot of the commander real fun: playing a lot of the mytic/rare bomb and nische cards from a lot of sets that's never would be played in commander just because you have 99 cards slot. W8ing for another one sooner rather then later. Gj guys.
Jeremy could have attacked Daretti instead of Jon with the Managorger since the land only protects Jon. That would have cut him off his draw engine.
Games with Mexican standoffs are my favorite. They’re difficult to navigate through and allegiances can shift with any action taken, because any advantage anyone gets immediately sends the others into a fight or die mode.
Feel like the game would have been over the turn after Jon blocks with Torbran. Guess he forgot?
Jeremy played Champion of Lambholt, meaning that the tree'd Torbran can't block. Before that, Justin's Well-laid Plans+Shifting Sky means that Torbran can't take combat damage.
super fun to see other cards than always the standard ones. please more! greetings from germany ;)
what was that card Stephen pulled out from his deck at 1:18:07 I can't seem to find it on the decklist
Yeah I looked for this as well, it seems he added it after they posted the lists.
The card is called Laquatus's Creativity btw. Target player draws then discards equal to the number of cards in their hand.
Did Jeremy just make a Trogdor the Burninator reference!?
Justin, i had a deck that did that exact same spell trickery it was one of the first decks that i had every built with merfolk and wizards that changed spell colors and shifting planes with very specific red hate like flash flood, BEB, it was fun because no one else was playing that stuff in FNM.... i felt accomplished, lol. oh and love the show man cant wait to see more.
**shifting sky not shifting planes**
I don't know if I missed it, but did Jeremy put something into play with Rishkar's Expertise?
He dropped the Reliquary Tower, but didn't cast anything. Perhaps he misinterpreted the card, but more than likely he was distracted by John and Stephen's constant banter.
Justin also forgot to put counters on his Midnight Clock on everyone else's upkeep, but died before that could have mattered
I built Elegeth and Siani like 3 weeks ago!
Love watching these....makes me miss playing magic all the more. Also makes me sad there has been no magic in this area for nearly 4 years now.
Also makes me realize even more I need to find a way to sell my large collection and make some money. Sigh....
You can play magic over webcam
Isn’t that burnished hart in the top 20 colorless cards on edhrec?
Top 3 at one point
Am I the only one that clicks on cards in the video and get surprised when it pauses rather than show you the card? :D
You said you were taking a short break! You lied to me and I'm happy about it!
In case anyone is wondering scavenger ooze is the 77th most popular green card
As Jeremy beard grows so does his confidence meanwhile Justin looks broken :(
LOL How is Ruby Medallion not one of the top red cards in EDH?, ohh Jon...
That Torbran deck looks very similar to a deck I made, I took it apart after a few matches since it really requires Torbran to be out and I have come to not like making EDH decks that rely on your commander too much.
All the medallions are 20-40$ or greater.
Even with the disclaimer, the amount staples in the "no staples episode" is staggering.
So Gaea's cradle on a stick is not a staple in green? I think the rules need some adjustment in terms of powerlevel. Also, is no one running enchantment removal?
Jeremy you've really come a long way in staying positive! There's a big difference in the mood of the episodes and that's awesome. GJ and GG!
What card was that Stephen was trying to win with? I couldn't make it out
Me either...
Great Game! Love the extra rules and politics that made this game.
Harnfel, Horn of Bounty only allows playing of exiled cards till EOT. Didn’t Johns Rampaging Ferocidon get exiled the turn before?
So have they at any point said what the hell happened to stephen? I've been watching almost every episode since he's had the neck brace and I haven't heard anything or I just missed it.
This challenge would have been perfect for my Brimaz deck since no one runs mono white its not a staple, LOL sounds fun to try with my playgroup.
I love this show so much
I appreciated the Trogdor reference mr Noelle
I liked seeing torbran ideas for my own deck. Sad I found a lot of the weird ones already.
I was disappointed I knew all of the cards in Jeremy's and Jon's decks. 20 deep definitely wasn't enough for the restriction, but I think even 50 would be too lenient. Why not forbid any of the cards on each color's EDHrec page? There are more than enough Magic cards to do that and it would make for some truly unique decks.
Starting to bing at the beginning of the playlist again because I am running low on content from everyone else and Strixhaven is still so far away.
I'm actually have Torbran prison, similar to Jon's!
Director Double D that's how it needs to be
What's with Justin's comments recently, the ones about not being sure how long the show will continue. Did I miss something? I sure hope they aren't thinking of calling it quits :/
Keep the restriction the same but add 10 more cards to the ban list each time. So 2nd game of the series is top 30, next top 40 etc.
Why isn't Jeremy attacking Jon's plainswalkers? He targets Jon and does no damage. Wouldn't the plainswalker take damage though?
Once the hydra was goaded, it's specifically required to attack a non-Stephen _player_, if able. If he wasn't allowed to attack Jon (ex: Blazing Archon) he'd still be required to attack, and could chose freely between Stephen and Daretti.
Uncertain about going after Daretti before, or with other creatures, though Jeremy needed to keep some defenses back to keep Jon from flunging.
@@erfunk ah ok, so it had to be a player. Thanks 👍
So glad your back already!!!
DirectorDan, don't forget to add Commander damage next time, please. 33:50 Stephen hits Jon for 5 Commander damage. It may not have mattered in the long game, but it's a nitpick nonetheless.
A theme I would like to see is a Pauper EDH Game: All Decks are only commons except the commander which is allowed to be uncommon.
I recently build a Maja Pauper which is pretty cool tbh.
They've done pauper a couple times, once around commander 2016's release and once around dominaria's release
55:00 John said he takes "None" from his Sulphur Vortex, but he still lost 2 life.
He lost 2 to Glacial Chasm, which was then adjusted by another 2 as Glacial Chasm has cumulative upkeep
Why didn’t John tap and do damage to Jeremy and let rapid go through
#TeamParnell! Here's hoping for a good start
Sorry
I just went to EDHrec and Ruby medallion is the number four card on the list of top 20 staples of mono red.
Also Torbran is also in the top 20 of mono-red.
I think because Ruby Medallion is an colorless. Its not in the top 20 there. I don't know why the commander was allowed. I guess no restrictions on them because Yeva is also top 20. When I mention top, I mean if you specifically look at commanders. Torbran is #2 but himself might not be a top 20 red card
Torbran is the 46º and Ruby medallion is the 97º (/top/r).
Yeva do not appers in the top 100 green cards (/top/g)
I just checked and neither were in the top 20.
One of the best episodes to date! Justin again ruling the peanut gallery!
I feel like they've done it before, but I'd like to see a theme game of 'least favorite color' or off pattern color themes. Justin can't do UB, get Jeremy of Green love, Stephen probably no UR, etc. I'm not sure on John, he seems to like variety, maybe favors BR and colorless. Really I just want Jeremy to not do simic.
Steven Hero of Kamigawa with the foil #teamgreen
How do you determine your points? Sorry I'm a little new to your streams.
Here's the breakdown!
THE RULES OF COMMANDER VS
+4/3/2/1: Finishing first, second, third, fourth
+1: Drawing first blood (combat damage)
a PR @ralsii | a1@ MY{o1b]mexe)anlanta]a(elslm (ele molmane)comiinalcss)
+1: Saving another player during a game
+1: Killing with commander damage
-1: Killing everyone in the same turn
-1: Killing the player in sole possession of last place first
-1: Searching for 40 seconds
-1: Searching for 30 seconds after that
-1: Failing to cast your commander from the command zone
Actually John, "It does nothing" 50:18
Why didn’t John block the goaded Hydra with his Commander to get rid of the Lignify?
Well-Laid Plans plus Shifting Sky prevented creatures from taking damage while Justin was alive, and then Champion of Lambholt prevented blocking.
@@erfunk Ahhh i see fair enough. Thanks for the explanation.
I'm looking for a good jeskai spellslinger commander any suggestions ?
Kykar, Wind's Fury
Scavenging ooze isn't even in the top 30 monoG creatures. Turns out green has some really good creatures, who would have thunk? Places 21 to 24 are azusa, courser, oracle and hoof. Yikes!
I was looking at Justin's face all game, feeling there was something different and could not figure out what it was. And then I realized, no beard, took me the whole episode.
I think a good theme would be the opposite of this theme. Each person picks a vanilla mono commander, has 35 basic lands and has to use the top 64 popular cards for each colour on edhrec. True test to see which is the best colour.
thassa's oracle and fierce guardianship? What is this, cEDH?
Only at deck techs but how is sulfuric vortex not a top 10 card for torbran
Hedron archive not a top 20 card?
*tomer liked that*
How did you determine what is considered a staple?
The guys looked at top cards for each color over at EDHREC. :)
what happened to stephen's neck?
I'm guessing four coloured Commander's?
I'm confused, why did glacial chasm not prevent that last attack?
jeremy turned it into a basic forest, so it loses its ability
song of the dryads turned it into a colorless forest land, as such it lost the qualities of being a glacial chasm, meaning the damage prevention
Jonathan "the goadfather" Suarez
Spoiler:
Jeremy misplayed and had such bad threat assessment all game. He really did not deserve the W. Also Jon, Justin, and even Stephen played a cool deck with unique cards. Jeremy just played all the staples under #20. Was really rooting for that Jon win.
I mean, that's every episode...
Sometimes I can't tell if they all actually like to play with each other.
I think sometimes they can’t tell either
The curse of mono red got john
what caused them to start switching places every week? It throws me off every time
Points/standing order, last place goes first
@@ericriner9425 ohhh okay i didnt realize that, thanks!
Try no non lands in the average deck build per commander
What card did Stephen want to win with?
No staples allowed...Green deck shows up with staple after staple lol.
Dunno if you'd be interested in trying it, but there's a sub-format of EDH over here where the total cost of a deck, including commander but excluding basic lands, has to be under 35 USD/25 EUR.
Great game
Anyone have a season win count for the crew? Tallying the number of season wins? I know some people have been on longer than others but I'd still like to know the count
(Director Dan) As it currently stands, both Justin and Stephen each have 6 season wins, Jeremy has 5, Jon has 4 and Wes from the first 3.5 seasons has 1.
Thanks Director Dan!!
Maybe pick popular commanders, but don't pick the top 30 or so cards so that way it really forces you to use crazy stuff
Should have went, Top 20 in that color, Top 20 in that commander and Top 20 in artifacts.
So I built the same deck Stephen is running about two months ago, and its absolutely ridiculous. Just stating before watching. Lol.
Nothing is better than playing Ancestral Recall 3 times, from hand, in a commander game. Lol
Can we all notice that basic lands are the biggest staple?
Is Director Kyle really not working on the show anymore? I'm going to be super sad if he is gone.
He is gone, but not forgotten!
twitter.com/DirKyleWest/status/1374745428776878083
@@SCGCommander Cue Sarah Mclachlan, ''I will remember you'' cheesy montage :P
How do Jeremy look younger with facial hair?
Scavenging ooze is in fact not in the top 50 green cards.
there's a naked mole rat in Justin's set what happened?
How about a restriction like no key words on cards.
JoNofun suarez 😂 happy you guys are back so soon
Okay next time each of you make a five color deck with none of the top 75 cards from each color.
Why not just go 100 deep for the top cards?
Also high synergy cards can still be unique and interesting!
hhhhhh mono blue shenanigans are the best shenanigans
why would you staple a magic card?!?!
idea: Play Red without discarding cards, Blue without drawing cards, Green without ramping, Black and not interacting with grave yard and White without gaining life and if you want to play boss level play five colored.
Can’t wait for you guys to do a game restricting combat damage to kill a player
