Probably flipped two 8 inch auger’s in my time. They made good chimneys for the shop and dairy barn that a frame would make some good fence post for medium size gates old tight wad here. Plus one heck of a wood splitter hydraulic cylinder.🤦♂️🤦♂️🤦♂️🤦♂️😂. Broke my heart to see useful metal being scraped 😢😢. Thanks guys BE CAREFUL!
The pto shaft alone would cost more than 280 bucks to replace, not to mention 2 good hydraulic rams, hoses, cables and reusable structural tubes, looks a waste.
The new MKX-2 13'' will have a fair amount more capacity then the MK had,I've got both, the swing hopper augers are geared up a little faster, you'll really like the power drive on the the swing hopper. Can't tell by the picture if its standard or extended swing, but the extended swing hopper "extra 5' of tube" you can dump both hoppers without moving the truck. The transition flexible tube between the swing and the auger cracked up badly and leaked on the the early MKXs after only a few years, maybe it's better now.
Insurance companies pay for damaged property and once they pay a claim on property (equipment, car, truck, motorcycle) they own it. You have an option most times to buy it back at salvage value (if desired). Once vehicles and other property claimed out you sign an affidavit signing over the ownership to the company. They sell it as scrap or sell it at auction such as co-part, vehicles, motorcycles etc. Farm equipment isn’t a sought after market compared to automobiles etc. unless they were tell an insured that you can keep the property and dispose of it. Most companies have their own way of going about this but most situations are similar.
Probably would of got a bit more if you had cut down the auger more. The more cut down it is they generally pay a bit more because they don't have to mess with it qw much
You would have made alot more money if you would have it down to 4 foot or less size pieces. They pay less for large pieces like that cause they have to cut them down to go thru the chipper.
8:20 nooo dude, you shoulda just UNBOLTED THE A FRAME LEGS!!! sigh...... but made for some good video I guess.... sigh WERE THEY BENT & TWEEKED FROM FALLING???? they didn't look that bad... the main tube looks all buggereeeed up but the LEGS didn't look that bad from the CAMERA AMAGLE>>>

Pathetic. Those rams, hubs, cables and pipe from was worth probably 4 times what ya got. Ahwell the throw away society. Welker boys and Fasty would have bad a use for most of it 😂😂😂😂😂
Correct! It is worth it! So we would have spent a day or two disassembling it correctly, then find somewhere to put it for storage where it would then sit there taking up shed space (costing money) where we would have to move it a couple of times (costing time) for 20 years. All in the hope that we might use one part off a wrecked auger! To add to the fun, after 20 years we will want to declutter the place, because with the mentality of saving every scrap, your shed will fill up, and you’ll have no space, so you’ll eventually scrap it at that time! So you more than likely gain NOTHING and go backwards! That auger was over 10 years old. Sat outside for the entire time, crashed to the ground so no telling what was damaged. We called a guy that deals in Augers and he wanted NOTHING to do with any parts. The rams were special with wheel welded on the end of them so they could only be used for one application. The cabling? Probably $50 worth new. We would have burned that up in labor getting it off for some old cable. I did save the wheels and lug nuts. On top of that it wasn’t thrown away, it was recycled. Want to continue this conversation? Or still think I don’t think about things and just post them on the internet?

Totally agree , pto shaft, hydraulic rams and hoses and some good straight lengths of reusable tube in the frame, can,t believe he scrapped it

AND THE SWING AWAY HOPPER thingie too!!! I woulda kept that part around for future projects... like when the new one gets run'ed over...??
Scrap prices must really be low.

Fantastic comment, thank you!
Man I can’t believe y’all threw those hydraulic rams away they looked brand new
We called to see if they were worth anything and we were told no. They also had very odd ends on them.

Correct. Only $100/ton!

Prepared scrap might have brought you more $ but your time is worth more than scrap metal
Scrap NEVER totals what you think it will. My guess was $425.
I’m figuring that out!
Should these things not be anchored down to protect from. Wind

That was a really scrappy video. 😂

Should have saved the swing hopper tires. They looked like the airless ones😢
They were, but they were rotten. I inspected them.
Where in world did you get that music ? ? That not exactly farming music !!!!!!!! 🤨
Neither is chew juice runing off your lip and crying over a dead dog 😀
Music is hard. That’s why I never have it in videos.

Salvaging a dropped auger yields mere peanuts. Sorry.
That’s what we have found out
Music is terrible
Agreed it’s absolutely terrible but you are extremely limited when creating videos on what music you choose.
@@iowANFarmer lol. I understand.
