  • I decided to buy an adaptor to have a look and see what details I can get from the ADV 350, I had no other reason but inquisitiveness. The kit cost me £6.49 including the OBD bluetooth dongle thing.
    I also needed to sort my visa because it's something we need to do every now and then. If anyone needs to know the process for a visa, please drop me an email - vortecks2000@gmail.com

I want to stop here forever because it's such a beautiful country with so much to offer but I will run out of money eventually. nice ride video Toni I am just getting my first OBD2 app/connector in August, still driving my 89 Volvo 240DL, great car that has been over 95% reliable, the other i am fixing up is 2002 Golf GLS with the base 2.0 litre engine it has the OBD2 unit, it'll do for the next 5 or 6 years it only has under 75k on the clock and is in very nice shape overall, you lucky, when you ride you get a blow dry at the same time 😂 i wish my roads where half as good as the ones you ride on in Thailand, they are pretty nasty even compared to UK roads and in the winter time my old Volvo rides better , the potholes are all filled in with snow/ice ,LOL, glad to see things are moving along well for you now, everyday is an adventure and we're privileged to be here to enjoy to our best 👍

      I'd love to design an OBD2 display, I know I can buy them so why can't I design my own? 😁 Actually, I might just do that!
      I think the last time it snowed over here was in 1955. I doubt it very much if the snow and ice will ever cover the potholes over here mate 🤣

    Love this stuff Tony. Crazy stuff, the odb app recording so cool. Would love to see more of your drone recordings. With some nice audio vibes. Mannnn, however i miss your cancelled northern roadtrip (which i fully understand), i still appreciate all your effort going onwards. Wish you the best and would really like to hang out one night. I'll be in Pattaya end november. Lets make a vdo during the Pattaya International Fireworks Competition. Already booked my flight from Chiangmai to Utapao on the 28th of november after i finished the MHS loop 🎉🎉🎉😂❤❤❤

      I'm rethinking the decision on the road trip mate, I might start it in October. I really need to do the MHS loop, it's got to be a bucket list job.
      You never know, we might actually meet up 1,000km north of here! line.me/ti/p/YM8-xsWFXY

    Good morning Tony, I've never used a visa agent, I've always done it myself.
    The imigration police are very helpful up here in Sakon Nakhon, I don't think their workload is as intense as, let's say, Pattaya or other tourist places.
    My Honda Jazz has blown the head gasket.
    So now it's the ebike for a few days.

      I'd love to do my own visa mate. I had 3 Thai women walk away after smacking their heads a few dozen times and they all said that it's impossible 🤣 They said that each form refers back to another one and you can't do any of them until you've completed the others.
      Maybe it's time I started exploring Thailand and enjoying the easy life - It's manic down here (in comparison, it's still 1,000 times less manic than the UK). I strongly feel a tour coming on, I need to do this 😁
      I also strongly feel this electric Honda PCX/Click coming on.....no head gasket to worry about there.

      @Vortecks Good morning Tony, my car is fixed now.
      It needed the head scimming, a new head gasket, a new electric radiator fan, a new radiator hose, and a new engine mounting bracket, as the bracket broke, taking the engine out.
      I know he did the work, because I called into the garage on my way past.
      And the cost was, 13000 Bart or £287, so I'm happy.

    Tony, people might be interested in how much they would need to live in Thailand.
    I would love to live there but now at 60 and a significant debt over my head that will never happen.
    Stay safe 👍

      I've seen so many videos stating how much it costs to live over here and there is a massive difference in pricing. The true cost depends on how and where you want to live but personally, I live on the bare essential and it costs around £350 a month in total but it could be cheaper.
      Just doing a search on YT, the fist video says $2,300 (£1,700) a month but these people are spending £450 a month on rent which is an absolute joke, they definitely saw them coming!
      I will do a video on how much you CAN live on and how much it costs me.

    The speedo's are designed to read "optimistically" old mechanical ones like on old 90's fords used to be about 10% out so at 70 on the clock you'd be doing about 63 actual MPH, ive heard the digital ones are set at a lower % figure but never played with them to confirm that, that could be the differnce in why your obd2 data is showing different from the speedo, ones actual speed and the other is the optimistic value,
    KPL imagine is kilometers per litre average, the number should be more nearer the 30's i'd imagine, but its an average so maybe clearing and reseting that will sort it, its maybe accounting for data where you had it sat idling on the drive when you were playing with it when reading the codes? either that or its just the cheap obd2 unit, ive got one as well but like yourself i wouldnt trust ALL the data its giving me

      Might just be crap software, like most Chinese work.

    • @JoeToep-cy2fl
      @JoeToep-cy2fl Місяць тому

      But for a couple of baht, for me, a total noob, its still cool! Its just fun. I remember buying some (superexpensive) tomtom stuff also with bluetooth obd connector using it on my brandnew Renault Twingo in 2011😂😂😂. It was so cool. 555

    • @weegaz22
      @weegaz22 Місяць тому

      @@skysurferuk could be, could also be a slightly different protocol, all the OBD stuff had different protocols between brands think there were 5 of the top of my head, what I'm unsure of is if the motorcycle stuff uses their own protocols or if they just used automotive ones.
      my Honda SP1 didnt have an OBDII port, you'd just bridge a connector and the fuel injection light would flash in a sequence and that would give you your code.

    • @Vortecks
      @Vortecks  Місяць тому

      I know it's an optimistic speed and all speedos read slower than GPS speed to reduce deaths (apparently).
      It's nothing to do with protocols or crappy software, the signals are digital so the displayed speed is the speed being sent from the OBD port. If you set your phone up to show your speed and you stick to this speed, there isn't a camera in the country that will catch you - they calculate the cameras by carefully measuring distance (the same as GPS speed does) and then calculating the time travelled over a known distance.

    KPL would that be Kilometers Per Liter? Did someone just translate that from MPG (Miles Per Gallon) LMAO :) :) :) - and the number could be 8 Liters per 100 Km, wouldn't that be just about right for a motorcycle that isn't so economic?

    • @Charlemagne1367
      @Charlemagne1367 Місяць тому +1

      Spotted that as well. That reading must be wrong. Adv 350's are 3 to 4l/100km, and that would be 70 to 94 british mpg.

    • @Vortecks
      @Vortecks  Місяць тому

      Yes mate, it's Kilometres per litre and I know, it's very badly wrong. I hadn't reset anything on the app and that's how it calculates things.
      It's actually returning 31.7 KM per Litre (74.5 MPG)

      I saw it mate, it's a disgrace. Imagine all those pensioners who voted for them and immediately got stabbed in the back.
      I had a bit of a scare...... someone told me that Labour are planning to abolish the state pension and then I was told that it would be means tested. I've got my 35 years tax paying in, if they take it off me, I'll be back to join the civil uprising!
      Edit, I've got to add....... bas*tards!!! (oops, I didn't remove the T 🤣).
