Definitely agree with your number 1 choice - and there’s a few other games that I now need to look into. A recent favourite of mine is Cross Clues - sort of a mash-up of Codenames and Just One that plays well at lower player counts.
I have seen cross Clues. Is it any good? Is it challenging? It is good to have a few word games that can play at lower player counts especially at 2 players!
I think it’s good - in a light-hearted, co-op, Just One, sort of way. It’s not Decrypto level of challenging by any means, but there’s enough challenge there to make for a breezy, entertaining game. It’s possibly not quite as good as Just One, but playing well at 2-6 does make it easier (for me) to get to the table than the 5+ you need for Just One.
Oh my gosh - I can't believe how similar our stories are! We both love board games, our parents were Chinese immigrants who left Vietnam because of the war, AND we both speak Teochew?!?!? That is so cool! You're totally right how rare it is to find people that speak it outside of family. I remember tripping out once when I heard someone speaking it at a grocery store (although admittedly it was in Chinatown, but still). Anyway, love your content; keep up the good work :)
No way! That is so cool. We have now officially connected on a who other level. :) There must have been a lot of Teo Chew speakers in Vietnam. Yes I can totally relate to being in a grocery store and hearing someone speaking in Teo Chew. Its like you have this connection without even realising it. :)
If you want to skip straight to the List, it begins at 3:28 Are you a fan or Wordle or Scrabble? What are some of your all time favourite go to word games?
I get you man, games are a greate tool to learn english. I use it with friends and family who are learning. Overall the work to remove to fear of talking in another language and to have fun while learning
Another great video! Thank you for sharing your own journey growing up regarding words and language; Loved your buildup to your #1, which I’m glad to know I’ve got that game too already! Keep up the great videos and content. Thanks Danny!
Lovely list! I also love word games. Here are other great ones: -A little wordy is great for 2p -So clover is another great co op word game that plays great 3 or more players -Phantom ink is an interesting oddball -Werewords is a refined but a little bit more complex version of Insider -Anomia is a quick party game about coming up with words in face-offs Gonna read through other comments for more recommendations ❤️
most of these games seem like great guessing/clue giving/intuition games but not really what I expect when I hear word games. Word games in my mind actually involve creating or spelling words like boggle, scrabble, wordle, or involve messing with words like backwords (where you have to try and pronounce the word backwards and then other players have to figure out what the actual word is).
Thank you for helping me remember the name of a game! I saw the folks at BGG on UA-cam play it, but couldn't find it, even on the BGG website. Master Word. Oh yeah, that's the one! Now I can go buy it.
I can't remember the name of another word game (I may have anomia :-) ). If anyone can tell me the name, please do. Everyone (or maybe teams) writes down their clues, and maybe the other team's clues (it's not Decrypto). Then they add a symbol that modifies each clue, to distinguish them. (Very logical, for a party game.) I wish I could remember more. Edit: Found it. CrossTalk. k

@@brucebush5744 I am definitely intrigued! Thanks so much for the suggestion :)

This is exactly what I use games for. Shared experiences make for better connections too!
my whole family plays wordle every single day. btw I am Declan from last year, i don't think you will know me, but Pete definitely does. :)
Yes I do know you! What is your current Wordle streak?
@@BoardGameSanctuary 66 :) i haven't failed one yet, but i haven't done all of them daily recently because of school and other such stuff
We still play Upwords once in awhile. The card game Hardback is one that I might purchase in the future.
I had 4 of those games and actually expected to have even more. Now you've made me want Decrypto. Good stuff!
Thanks so much! Decrypto is so tense its on another level altogether :)
Really enjoyed the video & getting to know more about your journey with word games!
aww thanks so much. Please let me know if you would like to hear more stories in future Talking Sanctuary videos :)

I sense an ark nova review… 🤔
You are 50% right :)
Its actually going to be an Ark Nova Vs Terraforming Mars video. Hope you are going well!
Your list included a lot of games where you guess a word. Have you played word building games such as hardback or paperback?
Yes I have played Paperback. I really struggled with it though. I did love the deck building elements!
how many bored games do you have?
I have a few bored games... :)
@@BoardGameSanctuary oh great
@@BoardGameSanctuary and I am a fan of your Channel.. I" ve been wanting to buy some bored Games
