I've had a lot of fun with the GI Joe deckbuilding game over the last year. I've only played about 10 times, but man it's fun strategizing to build the dice pool to tackle missions.

I've played Stardew a handful of times on tabletopia, sometimes solo, a couple time with 3-4. I think it is probably not as fun if you haven't played the videogame, but man it's so thematic to the videogame, and it is very fun. I also think it is has a lot of room to adjust difficulty. Some of the goals are much more difficult than others, but also I've played with the harder goals , while giving "advantage" on all rolls. Sounds like a big buff and it is! But it does make the win rate more fair for me!
Great list, thank you! I've been really liking coop... expansion enabling thingies (technical term) like Concordia and Viticulture. THE LOOP is awesome and I think maybe impossible for my tiny brain. Spirit Island is probably my fav, as the kids say.
Yes guys! Love your picks. Some crossovers with us. Our favourite is Mansions of Madness- the first game my girlfriend really got into when I started buying games
Really wasn’t expecting Stardew! Good choice it’s what got me into board gaming. Played it maybe 10 times and beat it twice. It’s still one of my faves
Hey guys, I finally bought a copy Robin Hood... It's brilliant! Great recommendation! I have a question. No spoilers obvs, but we done chapter one. The guards we beat, do you physically flip the guard over.. do they come back into play when the hour glass is removed?
Glad to see The Reckoners get a mention here! That game is a blast whether or not you're a fan of the book series. Sprawlopolis is an awesome co-op game; it's a simple game that requires working together to solve a complex puzzle of how to lay out the cards. It's so rewarding when you win, too. And Burgle Bros. is another gem when it comes to co-op gameplay.
@@FostertheMeeple I appreciate your channel and videos! I only discovered them a couple weeks ago but I enjoy your energy as a couple and find your videos refreshing and enjoyable.
Mansion of Madness house rules? I want details please. The difficulty is one of the reason we dont bring it to the table enough. Keep up the awesome work. Love this channel
Haha it’s pretty simple (and only at 2p). But we give each other an extra free move action. The games maps are pretty large to be able to handle at 2p effectively. Especially some of the harder scenarios. The extra free move is super beneficial
King of Monster Island is a fun co-op game that reminds me a bit of The Loop. I haven't played it a lot, but the plays I've had have all been enjoyable.
I was very interested in your choices. I have been a fanatic with Robin Hood games always in search of a good themed Robin Hood board game. I have this one and pimped it out. It looks great. I am glad it made your list.👍👍👍
Beyond Baker Street (a Hanabi style co-op card game) and Journeys in Middle-Earth (if you’ve rated Mansions of Madness high you’ll love this LotR app-driven game too)
My wife and I love coop board games. And I was intrigued with some of your mentions. Our favorite is Aeons end. It can be brutal but if you plan out a good strategy you will manage and it is extremely satisfying. There are 4 core boxes, 2 legacy's and 1 big expansion. We have beating everything untill the second legacy witch we are currently playing. (We have liked the first legacy a bit more) but still I recomend you play the first legacy. I have a feeling you might like it.
Tattoo spotting! What's Jeff's tattoo say? Also - LOVE this video. Our gaming group has gradually trended away from competitive play due to a player being SUPER cutthroat over the years... Cooperative games keep getting better and better!

Love co-op games so really enjoyed this video. Thank you for that. I have been on the fence with Robin hood and think I'll have to try it now. That said I love ghost stories even though it'd so so brutal, family loves horrified and I just picked up mechs vs minions which I'm looking forward to playing. The loop has caught my rye as well. Oh and the wife just got me mansions of madness so looking forward to that one also. Annndd lol we just played decorum and really enjoyed that one. Love 2 see the 2 of you play that one
We are finally playing Stardew Valley for the first time this weekend 😀 (it's been on the shelf for nearly a year!) Hopefully we love it as much as you two do - after we have fought over having the cat or the dog to start, obviously 😂
Churchill the struggle for peace. Although its best with three players, Stalin, FDR and The British Prime Minister. You cooperate to beat the Axis in WW2, but want to get just high enough in points to win the game, If you win by too many points, another player wins.
I’m glad Steph and I aren’t alone in maybe a few beneficial house rules when playing coop. Maybe it’ll be more fun if we move 3 spaces in mansions of madness haha. Best part of co-op is when Steph rolls amazing like she always does it benefits me
MoM is much more difficult at 2p. So when playing at that player count we give each investigator an extra move action. The map is super hard to cover at 2p with base rules
Great video, with lots of suggestions for me to try over time. I backed the Sleeping Gods Distant Skies campaign, so that will be our first foray into that universe and we're looking forward to it. Tales From the Loop really interests me as well, as I really liked the series on Prime. Thanks guys!
Ooo... so many good ones to choose from! Do love us some Ghost Stories (recently got the White Moon expansion, which we need to still play). Also adored Jaws of the Lion; we need to play the large original, but I imagine Oathsworn may have taken that big campaign-style spot for you. Lots of good co-op campaigns out there, speaking of... Mice & Mystics was another fun one we liked a lot and need to dive back into-such adorable minis!!!-and we're still working to find time to wrap up our first run of Vagrantsong. Seeing some love for Spirit island in the comments already, so instead I'll shout out some others: Zombicide is a hoot for us (though maybe that'll be supplanted by Cthulhu: Death May Die once I get that in); Batman: The Animated Series - Gotham City Under Siege has a soft spot in our hearts as just some light, silly, quick, dice chucking fun; and Mantis Falls is one that I got in based on Quackalope's recommendation (this might be a cheat since it's co-op only some of the time!) that we played just last night and are absolutely enamored by. As a series, we also recently got super hooked on Unlock! as a two-player experience. I'm curious if you've tried Tindaya yet. I got a Kickstarter copy of that in a little while ago, but we just haven't found the time to dive in... and I admit, I'm still not entirely sure how the game plays!!! It can be played co-op or competitive with some rules adjustments and changes to end-game win conditions, but I imagine we'll be focusing on it as co-op until we really get our heads around how it plays.
Reeeeally wanting to try Stardew Valley! It’s one I'm keeping an eye out for wherever I go since it’s out of stock online. I think my favorite co-ops (we don’t play many) are Horrified and Forgotten Waters.
Now I need to play Stardew Valley! I've been playing The Adventures Of Robin Hood as of late, and I'm really enjoying it. My favorite cooperative game is Spirit Island. It can be fiddly, though.
Stardew Valley is great! Though I disagree with the notion that there is only a small element of luck. There is quite a lot of luck actually, and you'll more often than not waste a turn due to poor dice rolls (when mining, fishing, collecting from animals, etc.). But it's very thematic and has a lot of interesting choices and co-op decisions. Also, I absolutely love Spirit Island, and never understood the idea of it being "fiddly". What does that even mean?
@Al Nic fiddly means a lot of little rules to pay attention to. In Spirit Island, it pertains to the spirit's power cards, their asymmetric powers on their boards, and stuff like that. I've actually heard the same thing said about the Adventures of Robin Hood.
@@alessandronicastri4172 I never felt like the luck hindered us too much, so I guess agree to disagree! Fiddly is explained above so I won’t repeat. Thanks for the thoughts!
@@blackboardgaming5348 Hm, by that definition fiddly just sounds like complexity, so really every game above a certain weight level could be defined that way.
No love for Sentinels of the Multiverse? Gameplay really feels like a superhero slugfest, the attention to detail is amazing, tons of replay value with just the base set, multiple expansions available. If you've not played, well worth looking into.
Absolutely agree with the number 1. Stardew Valley is One of the best and most fun games I own. I love the videogame and the board game is such a good representation of the videogame. It is hard yes, I mostly play it solo because it takes so long to play, and I mostly play is two handed because I think that plays better than the original solo rules. I think my win/lose ratio is around 40/60. I hope they bring out an expansion for this, because we NEED the desert and Ginger Island to be included in some way.
No Spirit Island? Have you guys tried it yet? Also Thanos Rising is fun if you wanna chuck a bunch of dice and hope for an easy draw out, or you draw into every bad guy and get stomped :D
@@FostertheMeeple Yeah I understand, its very weird to get your head around it at 1st. I'm still learning a lot about the game but it becomes more enjoyable I think when you change your mindset. You kind of have to play your turn setting up for 1-2 turns ahead. Trying to do whats good now is usually bad if that makes any sense.
Ok Ok, I get it, DMD is #1 yet again. Edit: I was wrong! Also wow, that Honorable Mention looks great; I've always wanted to try this game (The Reckoners).
Really like JiME but haven’t played it enough to talk much about it. While I prefer the LOTR IP, I must say I much prefer the dice rolling in imperial assault over the card placement in JiME. But both are very good

Haha we couldn't even get past the first mission of Gears of War. I sold it 10 years later for almost the exact same price as apparently people are searching for that one
My most enjoyable co-ops are definitely (not in any specific order) Atlantis Rising Dead of Winter Eldritch Horror Nemesis Pandemic Legacy (Season 1) Space Alert
Aside from Stardew Valley, any other games from your lists that work well in digital format and/or for solo players? Stardew Valley Mansions Of Madness Horrified Ghost Stories Paint the Roses Forgotten Waters Adentures of Robin Hood The Loop Tales from the Loop The Initiative Stardew Valley Sleeping Gods Star Wars Imperial Assualt Oathsworn Mansions Of Madness Adentures of Robin Hood Return To Dark Tower Cthulhu Death may Die Ghost Stories Forgotten Waters The Reckoners
we actually just got that and beat the 1st mission. While I liked finallyyyy having a game that utilizes more dice than just d6's, we felt the combat lacking and the overall story wasn't for us@@FostertheMeeple
I found out that Stardew Valley has a boardgame by pure chance and I was trying to get my hands on it ever since but it's nearly impossible! I have a friend who has so many hours in Stardew that it's borderline insanity!! The only reason my search stopped is because STALKER is about to be announced and I have a feeling I'm gonna lose my funds to that monstrosity
My daughter has anxiety so competitive causes her seriously stressful AP so diffusing the responsibility of winning the game to everyone really helps her to relax and just enjoy the game 😊
27:48 "There is this tiny tiny element of luck (in stardew valley, the board game)" Lol, there is a HUGE amount of luck in that game, it's one of the main issues people bring up.
I have noticed you often include new ganes and games that you have literally played ONCE or TWICE... but we know all games don't feel same over multiple plays! From reviewers, I expect recommendations that stand up to the test of time... How do you put first impressions in your top 10?
For a second, I thought Jamie spoke Dutch! Pompelmoes is the Dutch word for grapefruit 😋 and it sounds very similar to the French word. Great recommendations. Tales from the loop really looks interesting and so does Stardew Valley but the 45 to 200 minutes on BGG scares me 😅
@@FostertheMeeple whaaaat 😱. My girlfriend and I also Love "Ghost Stories" the moment I saw it I could swear I was going to see Robinson Crusoe 😂. When you guys have the opportunity to play, go for it. The game is great. Plus nowadays we have "Dized" a free interactive app to teach how to play it.
Hogwarts battle is such a fun entry level game for people who would love to try a coop game for the first time. The theme is played out so well and it plays pretty smooth and fast. Haven’t played it! Will take a look into it for sure
@@FostertheMeeple if you ever find yourselves in the vicinity of Phoenix AZ, hit me up. Always happy to host a game night.
Oh man I’d buy up an expansion so fast haha
I think my gf and I tried the Mansions of Madness Innsmouth scenario 12 times before we finally caved and each took on two characters 😑 Great lists!
Haha that’s the one that got us too. The one where you need to get up into the lighthouse? It was the scenario that made us make a house rule
@@FostertheMeeple haha exactly. WAYYY too much for two characters to do
Stardew Valley! Doesn’t get enough love (the board game anyways, everyone loves the video game) it’s so great!
Agreed!! I do wonder if it’s because copies were hard to come by.
No Spirit Island? Have you guys tried it yet? Also Thanos Rising is fun if you wanna chuck a bunch of dice and hope for an easy draw out, or you draw into every bad guy and get stomped :D
We have tried spirit island many times, has never been an enjoyable experience for us. But we want to try it again at some point!
It’s a good one!! Tough to find though, I got lucky and found a copy on vacation and bought a suitcase just to lug it home with haha
Pomplamoose!!! Love that band!
POMP A LA MOOSE
You gotta try all the MoM expansions and last Bastion!
I really prefer the theme in ghost stories though!
What about LOTR Journeys in Middle Earth? Any thoughts?
Really like JiME but haven’t played it enough to talk much about it. While I prefer the LOTR IP, I must say I much prefer the dice rolling in imperial assault over the card placement in JiME. But both are very good
adore all your picks!! some of our favs that you didn’t mention:
1. Oltree
2. Groundhog Day the Board Game
3. Escape the Dark Sector
4. Roll Camera
5. The Lost Expedition
6. Arkham Horror the Final Hour
7. Forgotten Depths
8. MicroMacros
9. The Shipwreck Arcana
10. The Nightcage
are there co-op games you e played that you really didn’t like??
Honestly there’s not many games in general we don’t like haha
my favorite co-op game is Descent 1st edition.
Awesome!! Thanks for sharing!
Scooby Doo the board game is great as well. We have started Familiar Tales.
Nice!! Hope you enjoy it!
Have you guys tried Bloc by Bloc or The Captain is Dead?
We have not!
@@FostertheMeeple oooh. You guys should check those out. Disclaimer: the rulebook for The Captain is Dead does not cover some details, but there is BGG 🤷♂️ and overall the game is a lot of fun.
I was going to ask about the Reckoners whether you have won yet? We have not :( yet when I Google it so many people say, it's so easy! We even play it on the easy level!
We really like Endangered, Hogwarts Battle, Roll player adventures and Lands of Galyzr! We just started playing Robin Hood and my kiddo asked if it could be our every Friday game :)
We have not won! I dunno how people find it easy haha
@@FostertheMeeple me neither! Which level of hardness have you tried? And what player count? We've only played it as 2 players.
@@frioevie only two players, cannot remember difficulty level but likely easiest mode
1) Dead Men Tell No Tales
2) Gears of War
3) Atlantis Rising 2E
4) Sentinels of the Multiverse EE
5) Freedom the Underground Railroad
6) Elder Sign
7) Horrified
8) Spirit Island
9) Nemesis
10) Escape the Curse of the Temple
Haha we couldn't even get past the first mission of Gears of War. I sold it 10 years later for almost the exact same price as apparently people are searching for that one
Was that a pepperwood reference i heard
Ayyy you look nice in your docker's don't worry about it!
RASPOUTINE BABY
RASSSSSSPOOUUUTIINNNEEEE
My most enjoyable co-ops are definitely (not in any specific order)
Atlantis Rising
Dead of Winter
Eldritch Horror
Nemesis
Pandemic Legacy (Season 1)
Space Alert
Really want to give Atlantis Rising a try!
Aside from Stardew Valley, any other games from your lists that work well in digital format and/or for solo players?
Stardew Valley
Mansions Of Madness
Horrified
Ghost Stories
Paint the Roses
Forgotten Waters
Adentures of Robin Hood
The Loop
Tales from the Loop
The Initiative
Stardew Valley
Sleeping Gods
Star Wars Imperial Assualt
Oathsworn
Mansions Of Madness
Adentures of Robin Hood
Return To Dark Tower
Cthulhu Death may Die
Ghost Stories
Forgotten Waters
The Reckoners
So a forgotten waters DLC this Summer?
I don’t think it’s a DLC. I believe it’s a stand alone with similar mechanics. Could be wrong though
what was the new iteration of forgotten waters? I'm not able to find anything
Freelancers!
we actually just got that and beat the 1st mission. While I liked finallyyyy having a game that utilizes more dice than just d6's, we felt the combat lacking and the overall story wasn't for us@@FostertheMeeple
What is a good game thats 2 player coop thats super easy to learn and play?
Sky team would be a great option!
Haha fair enough! I do think I read they plan on doing a reprint soonish!
My daughter has anxiety so competitive causes her seriously stressful AP so diffusing the responsibility of winning the game to everyone really helps her to relax and just enjoy the game 😊
Awesome!! Glad you’ve found something that works for her :)
27:48 "There is this tiny tiny element of luck (in stardew valley, the board game)"
Lol, there is a HUGE amount of luck in that game, it's one of the main issues people bring up.
Nah. Can’t stop has a huge amount of luck.
I have noticed you often include new ganes and games that you have literally played ONCE or TWICE... but we know all games don't feel same over multiple plays! From reviewers, I expect recommendations that stand up to the test of time... How do you put first impressions in your top 10?
If that’s your expectation then go find that content that works for you!! Thanks for checking us out.
that was great
Thank you!
Arkham horror 3:e edition is sooo good ✨️ it little like MoM 🥳
Paleo!
No mention of Pandemic? Nor Atlantis Rising? You two should be arrested for committing board game crimes!
Do not like pandemic, have not played Atlantis Rising!
Pandemic one of our favs. And Just One :)
If arrested I'll bail you out; pandemic is 👎🏼
Weird you do not like Aeon's End....
We have never played it, so I suppose it's not that weird haha 😂
@@FostertheMeeple you should definately try it (if you enjoy deck builders that is)
For a second, I thought Jamie spoke Dutch! Pompelmoes is the Dutch word for grapefruit 😋 and it sounds very similar to the French word.
Great recommendations. Tales from the loop really looks interesting and so does Stardew Valley but the 45 to 200 minutes on BGG scares me 😅
Oh that’s crazy! Haha. Yea, we play stardew at 2p in about 70 minutes or so. Tales from the loop, about the same. Certainly not short games
No Robinson Crusoe?
Haven’t played it!
I play it with friends who are into the hobby as well, but also with my little nephews who are currently reading the books.
LOVE that game!
We had a lot of fun with that one back in the day!!
No dungeon crawler?
Imperial assault?
@@FostertheMeeple Not in a dungeon, but granted, surely the same mechanics.
Stardew valley❤❤
Board game based on a book series? No thanks!!
Ok cool! Other people can enjoy them though! :)
