But if he was truly sorry as he said to Tim when he exposed him, he would have let him live his life and never would have kept getting involved with him. That would have been the greatest gift he could have given him. As for Tim, he continued to be there for Hawk, let him in, help him and his family - he was there for Jackson; Jackson trusted him. In the end, Tim still protected Hawk and confessed his true love for him which never broke and went away no matter what. He deserved the world and so much better 💔😢 But in the end, Hawk finally said that he was (always) *the man he LOVED* 🥹❤️
This movie has such a Thornbirds vibe to it. Hawk is like Father Ralph DiBricissart torn between his love for the Church and his love for Meggie. Meggie on the other hand marries Luke O'Neil who epitomized the saying "If you can't be with the one you love, love the one you're with." They divorced of course, and Meggie spent the rest of her life alone because she could only love one man and that was Ralph and they both paid such a high price for not being able to have what they both wanted which was each other.
Tim was decades ahead of his tmie wanting to be a couple with Hawk. This tale needed to be told so that we remember what we suffered through because of society's oppression of gay people. And how many of us stood over panels of the Quilt dedicated to people we loved?
